  • Glitter is a nightmare to clean up. If you ever get it real wet it want move. A vacuum is the best Method I have found to get up glitter of the floor. To get glitter off a table
Just a very lightly damp rag, not to wet.
I have been a custodian for over 24 years. The purpose of this channel is to share some of my knowledge with you. I remember the feeling when I first became a custodian. I was given a set of keys, a radio and a badge. Didn't get any training whatsoever. Being a custodian is not rocket scientist knowledge. There are definitely things that a custodian needs to know. I call it the art of the trade. Tips and tricks that can make the job much easier and enjoyable. Contact me: mrjeffcustodian@gmail.com

How about, an opportunity to teach the students to clean up after themselves.

If the VCT floor isn't clean, I find the vacuum does not work so well. Since Jeff keeps his floors in perfect condition he doesn't have this problem 🙂I use a plastic scraper to dislodge the glitter first and then vacuum.

I don't even worry about it. Glitter just makes everything sparkle more! Besides that, the teachers knew what they were getting into when they broke out the glitter 😉

I quickly learnt that a wet cloth can make it even more if a task, I do have reusable microfibre cloths but as I said on Facebook group I use disposable cloths (very cheap ones) with a slight damp magic eraser and then do a clean over with better cloths. In part because I don’t want reusable mucrofibre cloths stuck or spread with glitter in washing machines. I rather keep the battle with glitter confined to just the school.
The simplest solution would be to ban it from those demons to use (aka reception kids) but I can’t help but think how cleaners must have felt when they cleaned my desk after making my snowman which was made with cotton wool glue and some glitter. Perhaps I shouldn’t be so harsh on them. (Still got to this day)
No I think I will, be harsh, I was a perfect saint at school, my own nostalgia says I was!!
Your perspective on this is appreciated, hearing that it has to be hoovered often on carpets is a truth I have to accept as I was kinda hoping there be a some simple trick to getting it off easily. Ah well.
