I am so excited to share this video with you today! When the folks at Square Enix approached me to make a video of this theme in celebration of the Star Ocean 2 remake, I didn't know much about the game but of course I couldn't say no! Square Enix is one of my favorite game companies and I was so honored to get this opportunity. The fact that I have since fallen in love with this game and can't put it down makes this even more special to me now! It's such a quirky and charming game, and I absolutely love the updated retro style.
Because of the quick turnaround and nature of the track, I had to be creative in how I pulled it off. Normally I would try to get some live drums on something like this and it was intimidating to arrange it without that, but I thought it would be a fun challenge to make the arrangement entirely as a string ensemble. I've been experimenting more and more with how to more realistically produce lower strings in my arrangements so it seemed like a good time to push that even further! This track was such a fun challenge to arrange and record, and I hope you enjoy it!
