Hi Miss B ~ Thank you ~ thank you ~ thank you! I left another comment on Patreon so I don't want to repeat myself, except to say YOU are the BEST teacher! Anyone reading this, stick around & LEARN ukulele in a fun & happy way. Miss Bernadette is the BEST!
Please do more percussive ukulele strumming pattern tutorials! I tried to find more after the live you did about this, but I couldn’t find any. Thanks!
This is SO flippin' awesome, Bernadette!!! We have a small local uke jam, all beginners, and last night one of the players was just tickled that he finally mastered the "chuck"!! Once he got it, he was 'chucking' to every song! I can not WAIT to show him this technique! Love it so much!
Marie Teresa Marie!!! That is absolutely adorable! Please congratulate this member for me! The chuck is such an important and fun part of learning ukulele strumming
I just found this video today. It is so challenging my brain keeps wanting to go a different direction but slowing but surely I am getting the coordination down. This is a good workout for my 62 year old brain.
Yikes!!! About the time I think we are going very straight line you throw in a curve ball!!! I love this! It's kinda reggae, kinda Latin, kinda waltz... Just plain jamming COOL!!! I'm such a perfectionist that I'm still on day 9 of the 30 day course but this pulls on my drummer side. I'm So Happy 👏👏👏 Thank you ❣️
Mitzi!!! How are you doing?!? I’m so so so happy you are working on the course!!! I’m glad you’re taking it slow. And trust me, the first days are the toughest. After that, the course gets easier ❤️❤️❤️ I hope you have fun with this percussive ukulele tutorial. It’s a super fun/new trick that makes playing sound more sophisticated 😂
Becky H. Hi Becky!!! I filmed this after doing a livestream. Everyone’s feedback really helped me break it down into these parts. Glad you liked this!!
dude I can strum for hours but this percussion business is hard on the arm, am I the only one cramping up? This is very addictive too hahahaha!! Love it!!!
No problem Ms. B! Thanks for teaching me everything I know. I remember getting my first ukulele a couple years ago, and thinking it was a mistake because I had no one to teach me. But then I discovered your g chord tutorial and I instantly subscribed. From then I loved your all of your videos (and I kinda miss your short hair 😂). Thank you for being such a good teacher. And happy almost thanksgiving 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😊😊😊💞💞
Wow! Synchronicity! I'm new to uke playing but have been playing drums (casually with friends) for the past 10 years. So when I picked up the uke, I spontaneously started drumming on it whenever there was a break in the music that clearly needed percussion. I thought this is so fun and sounds like a mini cajon. I wondered if other people are doing this. Apparently they are! The possibilities of combining the percussive elements of the uke body are limitless. I'm looking forward to experimenting with some of these techniques. That's one good reason to invest in a uke with higher quality wood on the body of the instrument. Bernadette, thanks for sharing this awesome video! :-)
I began right after your livestream, and I’m finally getting it! Thank you for pushing yourself in order to push those of us who wish to take our playing to the next level. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Oh no problem!!! I loved it!! Got me into the Christmas spirit alright!!! You guys play so well together!!! Was happy to catch one. I sometimes miss them because of the time difference so whenever I do catch one it's a delight!!! 💜💜💜
Excellent lesson. Been working on it the last couple days. Will use this for last verse of Little Drummer Boy this Christmas season. Fits really well! Thanks!
Gran vídeo Bernadette! Me hacía mucha falta y me estoy dejando el brazo derecho practicando. Te quiero y te odio por este dolor de brazo!! 😉 Gracias!! 👏👏
Thank you so much this tutorial. It was really well explained and I got it very quickly. Please could you explain the next steps in developing percussive ukulele. Ie steps 5 - 8. Thanks in advance. 😎👍
Look, it does sound cool - but I am concerned about the piezo element! Never mind the thumb - it will develop a callus, but is the piezo element on the bridge designed to take the beating?
Hi Bernadette, I love your videos and they helped me a lot practicing. I just started playing last week and I struggle a lot with my left hand. When I keep my thumb on the back center of the fret board, as you say, my thumb seems to slide up a lot and I loose the grip. Do you have any suggestions what I could do that this won’t happen? Thanks a lot
Hi Lisa! Try moving the thumb around to a position that is more comfortable for you. Everyone’s hands are different, so you may find a position that’s better for you. Also try to rest the ukulele on your lap if it’s a larger ukulele or try using a strap. Sometimes the strap helps us find a comfortable position :)
Hi Bernadette, I love this, it kinda makes me think of a James Hill style. I would love to see a collaboration with you and Mister ukulele cheats :)using this technique .thank you for showing us this
Hi, I've come across your video, I tried to download the page, but when I went where your link took me, I could not download. Have you put a stop to that.?? Also around 2.15 it sounds like you are saying "now do it on Em" ,, looking at you finger placement, I can't see you doing what I know as an Em.
I watched this video 2 or 3 times.. Thinking, oh OK... This isn't too bad. Then I played along and my fingers each had a mini stroke and died. In such a n00b. Ugh. But thank you! I'll keep trying!
Sound is definitely low on this video compared with all your other great vids. I have all volumes on UA-cam and computer on full and still have to turn the sound up on my speakers.
Hi Bernadette, great video. Sound seems a bit low 😂 I can hardly hear your beautiful playing. I was probably just concentrating hard, that was challenging for my coordination.
All these comments are pre COVID. I hope everyone’s healthy. Picking up the uke has really been good head medicine - if you do see this, what kind of ukulele are you playing?
