This is a wealth of information. I have had so much trouble with slippage and never realized there was something I could do to prevent it. I have especially had slippage problems using an "endless" hoop. Thank you. Thank you. Love your designs and have made the fairy sandal several times.

I am so glad I watched this video, I had problems with the circles on my bodice, they were NOT attached correctly, nor was the satin stitches around the fabric (shifting is my guess, now). I must go back to the instructions, as I do not recall that I was to use a sticky stabilizer for that design. I have the sticky type for my hoop it all, so that is not an issue. I have enjoyed your designs for several years, TY to Gary & you Sonia for taking the time to show the proper stabilizer for FSL.

Please change the name of the video to ONE STOP: Explanation of Stabilizers, lol!! I have never been so informed as of now. Most just say stabilizer and find what works best, but being new and not too rich...I use a very cheaply made finger paint paper from dollar store! But I never did lace. WOW you are SO great at explaining the different ways to just get prepared for that project and fixing your stuff. THANK YOU you not only got me confident to try lace, but to do normal embroidery with more knowledge.

I will be using water soluble Avalon Plus (Firm) which is a kind of meshy fabric. Do you think starching the lace would be worth doing to protect it's shape?

It seems to get lodged between the threads and it shows no matter how long I soak it or run it under water. I'm using the same mesh wss you recommend. It seems to remain lodged between the tiny cross stitches.
I found your video looking for free motion lace (using a regular sewing machine) I have no idea what search term to use, but i've found videos in Russian I can't understand lol. I use Babylock multineedle machines. So sorry for such a delayed response! I use the Bernina Designer software to create designs, but I would recommend Hatch, by Wilcom.com
If I was to put this (the tacky stabilizer) around my hoops and leave it, can I piece it around the hoop or is it better to use a whole piece, not broken?
I happen to have done just that this past week. I wanted to take off the old stuff and replace it without using a full square. I pieced it together and it's working well. Just be careful to not overlap in the same spot every time. In my mind, I think it's important to keep it from building up in any one spot. I cut strips and stretched each one a bit as I applied it so that it sort of wrapped around the edges. Hope that helps! :)
When these are dry are they quite hard? I made a pair of baby shoes. They're cute but too hard for a baby's foot. Any suggestions? Maybe a different thread?
Hi Kimberly. They can be hard or soft depending on how long you soak them. If you allow them to soak in soapy water and then rinse, they will be quite soft. However, you will want some of these to be nice and stiff, such as the earrings and ornaments. I hope that helps.

Can you be specific as to what you are referring to?
You can use solvy for making lace but you have overlap the stitches.
Solvy is not for lace. It is meant to be used as a topper. Lace is digitized with overlapping stitches as a rule. I hope that helps. :)
