Answering Laser Questions and Other Laser Tidbits

After my last video where I lasered the barrel lid I was asked some questions about lasering. In this video I answer the questions and then go over a few more things I have learned about lasering with the Ortur laser and Lightburn software.

Cool, Cy. You may need to update the firmware for your laser. Or reimport it, to get it to move where you want it to go. I'm assuming you are using "Absolute coordinates". Mine got changed not long ago and it took me a bit to figure out what I did wrong.

Hi Miss Cy! I recently purchased a Longer 40w laser. I'm pleased with the machine except... when engraving a wide/long sentence or picture, it is very light in the middle. I've checked the level of the machine, the wood being used for flatness and even thickness, but it's like the laser loses power in the middle and doesn't burn the same as the ends.
My question is.. have you ever encountered anything like this?

Hello, the only time I have encountered lighter results is if the wood has a sappy area, including some rings in the grain. Does it happen with all wood types? And if your machine is losing power it sounds like it may have a flaw, if you just bought it I would talk with them about warranty and maybe having it replaced or repaired? I sure hope you can get it figured out, it doesn't sound right to me......
