Another great OPP vid, Cy. Thank you so much for the shout out! So many great projects. I LOVE that Geisha!
To answer your question, the player piano belonged to my neighbor's late father. It had been converted from player to standard some time in the past, but she didn't know when. It was no longer tunable or repairable and was taking up too much space in her living room. She wanted it gone and knew that I was a woodworker, so she asked me if I wanted it for the wood. Of course, I said, yes. So yes, I disassembled it as carefully as I could to salvage as much as possible. There were about eight species of wood in the piano, including oak, big leaf maple, green and white poplar, pine, walnut, mahogany veneer and two others I have not been able to identify. At some point the mahogany veneer (that covered everything that was visible) was painted with black lacquer.
I have already made her several nice things from it, including a dozen personalized Christmas ornaments, a set of coasters, and earrings, and I'm working on a thread spool rack for her now. And soon I will be making her a segmented bowl from some of it.
Sorry for the long reply, but it has a story.
Thanks for the reply!!! Great to hear all that story! This went into my review tab so I didn't see it until now! Hopefully others will see it and read more of the info about the piano! So cool! Thank you!!!!
Love your OPPs..
Everyone did a great job!
Great to see all the special projects. Hi to the puppies.

Good stuff Cy :)
I am happy back opp
Hey Jason! Thank you!
Thanks, Cy. All great projects. Greta looks like a future intarsia artist to me. 🥰
Thanks Humphrey for your contributions! I bet she will learn intarsia from her daddy!
Nice videos. I just found your channel.
Thank you and welcome to my channel :) :) :)
Great Job by one and all. I was just thinking earlier today that I have not seen an OPP in a while. FYI went out yesterday and bought another scroll saw (Harbor Freight), as I have a couple of projects that I need to do. Looking forward to seeing more OPP. God Bless.
Hey Kurt! So awesome you were thinking about OPP today, I miss making videos more regularly, hope to get back to it again once the schedule slows down!
So glad to hear you got a scroll saw! Yay!
I look forward to seeing what you make!
Really AWESOME projects this time and I love the stories some of the creators included!!! Gibbs was really wound up today.....too funny! I think we're into summer here. We've been over 110 degrees lately. 🥵
Hey Lori! Wow! Already in the triple digits for days on end....wow!
Hope all is well despite the heat.
