Hi, it's weird to see a synapse with overlord of music. My Chinese Steinberger copy has that bridge and it does not stop giving me headaches.

6:05 - I'm curious: did you have to alter the top of the neck to get the Floyd style locking nut/headpiece to fit on the Synapse? The original Synapse headpiece is longer and FRONT loaded. These locking nut/headpieces are shorter and load from the TOP. Nice job on the aluminum strap extension hook, and cavity cover btw!

Hard to remember what I did to get the locking nut to fit. I believe the locking nut came with the Overlord trem and it was very easy to get it to fit without much trimming of the nut, or the neck. I did have to make a nut for the truss rod as there was none there when I got the husk Synapse body from eBay. It was much more work routing and hand carving the body to get the Overlord trem to fit.

Yeah - that was my 1910 Martin 0-18 as I recall. He did a neck reset on it. Also a re fret. I'm thinking he's making the fret board flat. Anyone else and this would have freaked me out. But Roscoe knew his stuff.

I don’t think that guitar is an actual Steinberger. There are counterfeits coming from China that have an “Overlord” Tremolo system. Steinbergers come with licensed Steinberger tremolos.

I explain in the video that the guitar didn't come with the Overlord Trem, but that it was ADDED BY ME.

The Kaveman the pegs at the bottom can be hand turned or you can use a flathead screwdriver, I believe.

I think I mention Holdsworth somewhere in this series. There are some great videos showing Van Halen and Holdsworth playing together. Amazing stuff.

Are you sure this is a genuine Steinberger Synapse?
-The Synapse did NOT have tremelos. I have seen a FEW that were modified to have trems (like my used Transcale), but never with a Overlord of Music Tremelo and FLOYD ROSE style locking nut. No genuine Steinbergers use locking nuts! (but most Chinese made fakes do.)
    - Proper Synapse guitars have a combo headpiece that accepts BOTH Steinberger double ball end AND standard single ball strings.
    - The improperly drilled holes and poor workmanship are also indicators of bad quality control that is typical of fakes.
    - If you go to the Top (Jansen) Custom Guitars site and type in "Steinberger", after scrolling a few pages you will see a blue "Synapse" model that has this exact Overlord of Music trem/Floyd Rose locking nut setup.
Synapse models feature a graphite "U channel" in the maple neck, and a Phenolic fingerboard. (aka Cybersonic technology) This combines some graphite stability with the warmth of wood.

I explain in the video that the guitar didn't come with the Overlord Trem, but that it was ADDED BY ME. Headpiece was not complete when I got it = parts were missing. This guitar does have the phenolic fingerboard.

@@dlunderdahl true. Also I compared the BACK of your guitar to my Synapse and the fake one on Top Jansen Custom Guitars. Yours and mine are basically the same. The fake has a different route for the control cavity. Also the control spacing is different on the fake. My bad.
Just for the record I also have a couple of Overlord Of Music trems. I bought them for spare parts years ago because one of my R-trems wore out inside the top piece that houses the jaws - causing one of them to pop forward when tuned to pitch. I initially installed the Overlord (it screws right in), but it didn't hold the tuning well when I used the bar. So i took apart both trems, and used only the TOP piece from the Overlord. Every other part is from the original R-trem, and it works great! This is currently on one of my GR4's.
