Hi Doug... When tightening (I like your keeping tension BTW) I find some necks very
delicate and some truss rods a bit dicey... I help the tightening by gently pushing it
over my knee and listening to the pitch of the strings ...it orients to how much I tighten.
Also, dead straight has always been my goal though I wish I had a good trick
    for de-torque-ing. thanx for posting.
Oh, the 18th (or so) fret on my Hohner wuz lifting and loose on the treble side...
(Well what'd'ya know I sez to meself... )
    cheers

I only tightened it about 1/8th of a turn and it was very tight. If I had to go further I definitely would have loosened the strings, for sure. I don't do this much so I can't say what to do on other guitars but Dave's World of Fun Stuff and Dan Erlewine are my guides. Dead straight is valid if you are like Jeff Beck and you have a very light touch kind of playing style so that the strings don't have much movement when plucked.

Was this one of the synapse guitars that didn't have the goofy trans-scale slider on the neck?

Do Steinberger guitars have a truss rod?

    Hi Doug,
Do you know where I could purchase a guitar like the one you feature in this video?

I found this one as a factory "third" on eBay. I think Gibson sells them new but not sure.
