Not a local but have lived in Tipton for over ten years now... Its nice to hear a local point out bits of history I didn't know about. Toll end canal that crosses Owen st is fascinating to me as I live beside it. Had no idea there was a signal box and that there was a crossing at watery lane over the railway. Side by side maps has filled in the gaps in my knowledge of the area. Great video.
The watery Lane crossing was great it was a great short cut off to the little Burton estate sadly missed with that great signal box thanks for the very kind comment and thanks for watching 👍
Very interesting video thankyou. It's great that you concentrate on the subject at hand. Too many vloggers try to make stars of themselves and think the viewer wants to see them in the shot
Oh you also forgot to mention that the first canal was built by Thomas Telford and where you finished was built 100ish years earlier by James Brindley an the Union street party connected them
A very underused set of canal's could be a touristic gold mine and permanent moorings she 100% need's a good weed clean out would be hell on a narrow boat propeller if you were cruising all the time hope it gets upgraded like I said that place could be a touristic gold mine.
Very true it does look a lot better then it did about 30 years ago new paths have been added but it would be great as a tourist attraction thanks for watching 👍
Sorry mate I think you made an awful lot of mistakes Union Street had a bridge where you crossed the road the canal the fell into disrepair and was filled in , you also failed to mention the zeppelin attack on that exact spot where a few people died also at Bloomfield Road and I think High Street. THEY WERE NARROW BOATS
The canal ran from were caggys boat yard is under the bridge in Union Street then through the old lock what's there now and into the canal near the coronation gardens I didn't mention the zeppelin raid bombings in Union Street and Bloomfield because I'm going to do a separate video at some point all about it all around Tipton the boats on the canal are known locally by a few different names narrow boats barges and canal boats
Yea for sure...lived there for 10 years and never had any hassle...I miss walking the canal with me now deacesed dog and Victoria Park...if you walk end of watery Lane turn right there used to be a pub in corner opposite bus stop by park gates..everyone drank in that pub off estate and the council had it knocked down saying homes was being built...last time I went past it was still just empty waste ground and it was knocked down around 2006...to this day I think it was to stop the locals congregating. Thanks.
The shopping trolleys in the canal were a big thing in the old days it seems like they keep the canals slightly cleaner these days thanks for watching 👍
Around the Tipton area we do call them by a few names narrow boats barges or just boats the pub next to Tipton canal is now called by it's original name the old bush but for or a time it was called the barge and barrel 👍
@@cjcadventures You`ll have to cut me a bit of slack as I`m a southener and only been in the area for about 12 years. But I picked where I live as it`s right alongside the canal and lovely in the warmer months.
@@angelsone-five7912 That's fine Tipton does have a lot of history which is right in the heart of the black country and lot's of things do have many names 👍

I was down the weed hatch a few times today. More for the plastic than the greenery though.

It was the Rose and Crown I used to frequent it when a mate called Graham owned it
19:47 the bridge was unsafe for pedestrians and buses and they are cobblestones not brick and are original
Correct
Where’s the shopping trolleys

Caggy the original one is dead
It's great that his yard lives on he would be proud 👍

Blue bricks are still made 😂
Blue bricks are still made but not as often I think because they are a little expensive to make and a lot of hard work goes into making them
