Excellent channel. Brings back some memories.
I’m not from Tipton, but I used to play football for Brew & Baker back in the 80’s. I knew the landlord, Derek, who poached a load of us from over Oldbury/Whiteheath way to play for the pub.
    Crazy and brilliant days.
A few years later I married a Tipton lass and used many of the local pubs over the years.
    Keep up the good work.

Some good pic’s and comparisons. I remember going over the railway crossing in Princes End every Saturday morning on the way to my Nan’s by Laburnum Road. The first house in Moat Road used to be a small sweet shop. Sherbet Fountains a wine gums were a favourite

I used to go to the baptist church in New Hall St. in the 1950s and the marlhole was behind it. Of course the temptation to explore was too great. There was a dirt track from New Hall St. to St. John's St where I used to play. To the right, behind the houses and shops in Tibbington Terrace was the remains of a very large house called Tibbington House, you could make out the garden layout and the remaining hedges. Further on you passed the marlhole on the left. The hole was dug to extract the clay used to make Staffordshire blue bricks which were used to build canals and, more so, the railways. I believe that it was owned by the Howl family who later started Lee Howl, the factory by Owen St. railway station where I worked for many years until it closed in 1984. When the marlhole was being filled in I saw lots of tanker lorries discharging chemical waste into the hole. Usually on Sundays funnily enough!

The Gospel Oak known locally as Mother Shipton's or Shippeys. I used it around 1979 when Big H kept it (I worked at Pylon Service Station next door). A proper down to earth honest pub for working blokes. I remember one night we piled into the bar and there was a somewhat posh woman reading. Aware that the place was full of growlers she looked up from her book and asked if they objected to a woman being in their bar. Ooh no luv, you'm alright the growlers replied.

Some of my family originated from Princes End, there was so much knocked down in the 60s and early 70s. The north side of Princes End High Street and Wednesbury Oak Road were in the urban district of Coseley until 1966 and never came under the old Tipton council. The Gospel Oak was a ovely old pub, but Marston's made it look too modern inside

Enjoyed these videos. Not my area but had friends in college that lived that way and we used to drink in Shippy's and the Collier.
A couple of them lived on Farmer Way (just behind where you're standing when you film Shippy's). I guess their estate was built in the 80's. Do you know what was there before it was built?
Never went in The Lagoon. The reputation was fearsone though!

The George and dragon had a rear garden, there, under a tree was a grave with gravestone.
Did that get reinterred when they redeveloped?
Laws garage, old man law and his daughter both in brown cowgowns.
    Opposite was kendricks coaches,
My work brings me into contact with a guy who worked with old man kendricks, by all accounts a lovely man. Further up, the angle ring.
    The black horses transformation
Is diabolical, who the hell was running tipton council planning
    For the last thirty years?
