“I answered him with two words”
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
I am reminded of the scene from Smokey and the Bandit where Bandit asked over the CB of the Sheriff knows what the letter FO mean.
It's always people, technical issues are easy, people are difficulty
I am not English but thanks to YT I can keep hearing people speaking their mother language and you deserve 👍 for your simple day to day routine explanation in a way that I walk with you on the towpath. I am 75 and biking around town, in the south of France where I live, and I am surrounded by the same idiots like you so I can feel what you are saying in every way and in my joints. Thanks for being you and sharing. 🥸🇩🇰
Only yesterday, urgently topped with water, emptied both alsan cassettes and got rid of 3 bags of rubbish after mooring in a remote spot without nearby facilities, 0h the satisfaction you get when these chores are done...
Good vlog, have subscribed, thanks.

There's no better feeling for a boater! But it only lasts a while though haha!
Who knew Micheal Cane had a you tube Channel! Next time you’re on please say “I only told you to blow the bloody doors off” 🤣
Best comment of the the day award.
Goes to you sir for such a brilliant reply.. 🏆
@Richard Westwell if you're gonna try and be cocky, you missed the A!!! And it's "know" not knew
You are a pleasure to watch Vince and make me smile. Ignore idiots. There always seems to be someone that can upset your mood. Keep the vlogs going for us please. Best wishes. X
Who died and made him the canal police??? He should know it's because of the virus lockdown!
I have to say that I have a hard time understanding why someone gets upset that there is a boat in a canal that is made for boats.
Unfortunately some people live on the water as a cheap way to live , and there way of life style with there falling to bits boat , still in British Water ways colours carrying dirt bikes mountain bikes etc and regulations large nasty dog , not to mention party time , and this all at the bottom of your garden . Don’t get me wrong there is a lot of retired folk on the water ways who look after they there boats where as they are a thing of beauty and they do not cause noise or nuisance also a few of the same ilk that have had to move on to the Water ways that are a Asset of public spirt .
@@martingilvray06 you are that Karen Moanin ! Arnt you ? So what if someone chooses to live on a boat as a cheaper way to live !
About time someone posted a real video about Narrow Boating! Please do more and show people its not all sunshine and lovely gentle music like all of the other you tubers post! thanks
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle Yes it just seems a shame that the canals are being overtaken by disillusioned with far too much money! Is that not spoiling the canal system and community feel?
Well, I found your last video (2021, 15-Dealing with Idiots...) and I decided to watch all your videos from the beginning. I truly enjoyed the views from the boat, even on the raining days. I feel like I'm keeping you company, traveling for free. Thank you for taking all of us in your HOME to share your adventures. I hope that a video of the inside of the boat is coming soon. Cannot wait for the tour of the inside and a more detailed tour of the outside. Take care and stay safe, greetings from Omaha, Nebraska, USA 🇺🇸 ...I'm originally from México 🇲🇽 May God Bless You. "vaya con Dios". 🙏🏻👼🏻🤟🏻
Thank you Ernestina, my next video will be on UA-cam tomorrow!
Thank you so much for your video content! It makes my day. All those wonderful sounds also... Running motor, rain, water etc. Lot of people dont realise how beautiful is audio soundscape round and inside of boats.
I used to do pest control at Allinsons so i had to go to the top of that big silo that was on your left twice a week. As you guessed they don't make bread there, they only mill flour i think. I'm now a full time vanlifer and i know exactly what you mean, there are lots of "look at our beautiful van while we do yoga on the roof of it" videos on youtube that lul people into thinking vanlife is amazing when the reality is emptying chemical loo's, finding water, finding safe park ups and living in a space 3m × 2m. I hope you're still chugging around fine and that you have a little more freedom now all the lock down stuff has ended.
I'm still chugging around happily. You're right, they do paint a different picture to what it's really like Stacey!
You are correct, people are the problem. It’s hard to be easy going when others get their jollies ticking you off. As a senior citizen I use my age to act aloof with people that are annoying. If they can’t get to me it gets to them. It’s really not the best way to live but it does keep me calmer.
A few years back it would have been a different story, but now I try to avoid idiots!
Give him a SEVERE ignoring, Keep Calm and Carry On! Good work.
😠 - I would ignore him, until I get infuriated enough to call the police (on the non-emergency number), to report it, and might call the C&RT to get permission to cover the sign up - see if that would encourage him to stop shouting from his balcony, and to take the effects of the lockdown seriously, and not the mooring rules. 🙄
Might have left the curtains drawn on that side of the boat as to not see him/the flats,
For some strange reason I have been addicted to watching lots of narrowboat and canal videos lately, despite the fact I have absolutely no real interest in it all! But when somebody puts up a video with the title "dealing with idiots" it was hard not to want to be intrigued by it!!! So I watched, enjoyed, and 'liked' it. At 10 minutes this was a perfect length as well.
Hi buddy I don't think we've met before
However I see you have been experiencing some fun n games.
There's 1 in every classroom and 1 in every work place infact 1 in every walk of life and there's not much we can do apart from put up with the 1 d,head and

Yes John some people are hard to figure out! Best to just keep away, and live with a positive outlook, around like minded people!
well now, 1st time viewer. This is something I never really thought about. Looking forward to learning about Narrowboats and life on the canals
Hello Grumpy Grandma! Look at my back catalogue, and you should get an idea!
Was those two words...f..off? Ha ha. I love your videos...hope will buy a bought soon and might see you! Have a good one and thank you for videos you made!
Loved it and subscribed. down to earth. One idiot is not a idiocracy ! Most brits I guess like narrow boaters !
Unfortunately there are idiots no matter where you live. Lovely vlog as usual.
Good morning Vince, sadly some people don't realise that's its not all sunshine and cruising. And sadly you'll get idiots everywhere. Not sure if my patience would last for long. They would get two word's a lot sooner. Lol.. Hope new mooring keeps you safe and well. X
Very true Kath, I had to show that, but I'm a positive person always looking to a better future x
The winding point at 2:47 is the old course of the river before the shopping centre was built.
you will never smell baking bread from pop & chapmans flour mill. in general the water front has been spoilt and hemmed in and a lot of its history destroyed
Yes , I've looked into the history of the area since, and it does seem that way
Have fun bro
Hi Vic, I just wanted to say how nice it is watching your blogs, your honesty and and informative and earthy narration. I look forward to watching the blogs and keep an eye open for the next one. I would love to holiday on the canals once I return to England, and see if its really for me, Oz is slightly lacking for the canal challenge. Regards to people, good and bad, its the bad ones that make you appreciate the good ones more. You managed the situation like a pro, there is no telling to what length reprisals may take and escalate. take care, stay safe, looking forward to the next one.
Cheers Mark, look forward to you commenting in the future, I'm getting more patient in my old age!
I know this vlog is two years old but it's still very useful to me and I love the way you explain things. I say this because I'm planning on going on to the water hopefully with a 9 or 10 ft beam. IDIOTS I've worked with a lot of em all my life or around them like naghbours and especially so called friends. Boat people like you seemed to my kind of people. Thank you for your vlog take care mate and God bless
Worst vlog I've made Ian! But I had to show people that its not all lovely out here!
Thank you for the valuable information in this video. It is indeed something that's missing from the majority of the videos on the other Narrowboat channels, though I've heard here and there that it's not all smooth sailing. Well worth it in all their opinions (total surprise there), and I find myself agreeing - what you gain is well worth the hassle.
Information is key, just as everywhere else. Informed decisions are those that hold, and videos like this one are a huge help in informing us interested people. Thank you again.
Overall its a nice place to be! If something is worth doing it never comes easy or without the odd problem. You just put the problems behind you and move forward!
Hi Vince I still enjoyed your video. Its good to see the other side of boating, helpful for anyone thinking of doing the same, so they don't think its all rosy. I am sorry you had someone being awkward but glad you are keeping positive. Thanks for your vlog. Looking forward to the next one. Keep looking up XXX
Not one of my favourite videos, but i've always been a positive person, and I have learned to turn the other cheek (when possible) xxx
You’ve got the right attitude, don’t let the wasters get to you. We’re only here for a short time so best to make the most of it. Imagine the sad life that Herbert must have if he has to count how many days a boat is there😁. Look on the bright side, he may get some stroppy arsehole of a boater who moors up in the space you vacated and he may get more than he bargained for and the second is at least you can move, imagine living next door to him😂😂
You're right, life is too short to let some Imbecile spoil it! If I lived next door it may have been a different story!
This was lovely to, watch a real look at some of the important things one may need to think about before taking the plunge.. Love your chanel ignore people that grind your gears wise to move on xx
Just stumbled on your channel vince... great viewing I’ve started from the beginning and enjoying it very much. .. as I’ve got older I’ve come to the conclusion that some people can only be worthy of two word answers many ending in off. It’s a language universally understood and the recipients are in the main worthy of the reply. Great name for the boat by the way.
Thanks Gary, hope you enjoy the vids, all the best Vince!
just discovered your vlogs , I like the no nonsense honest way its done. and the fact that you're telling it how it is warts and all . keep em coming , ignore the numpties, keep enjoying and best wishes.
Just found your channel. I'm a yank, still I watch every I can about UK and narrow boating, have for over 30 years starting with BritComs. So I can hear regional accents. You sound in accent and pitch just like Michael Caine. Am I far off? Ha!!! I'm listening to more now!!
You're not far off with the accent. I'm originally from East London, whereas he comes from South London!
Thank you for sharing the other side of narrowboat living. It prepares someone who maybe thinking of narrowboat living.
Yes Farzana, people need to see that its not all sunshine and lovely scenery!
Hi enjoyed your video like what you said to the guy in the flats think I would say a little more to be honest lol take care keep safe keep warm,John ☃️☃️☃️☃️
Not one of my most enjoyable videos, but showed a few of the problems that boaters get!
You're right about people being the cause of many problems. They can be their own worst enemy, and unfortunately other peoples pain.
If we can simply live, and let live. Well, The world would be a nicer place for all of us.
Wonderful! You made me laugh, thank you. I crave the narrow boat life but have left it too late even tho' I'm fit and lively enough at 71 I wouldn't be able to face it all on my own and can't afford a boat and my house together.I'm far away now from canals and regret moving in some ways. On the northumberland coast, Amble it's cold but there's lots of fresh air and space! You can't have everything! I'll try and find your other films now. Thanks again,
Lesley.
Good luck to you whatever you do Lesley! Staying active is the key!
Thanks for not putting music on, such a relief.
I agree. I just don't understand why so many people feel the need to have music playing in the background.
Nice to hear from you again hope your friend has paid his council tax you have paid yours he probably gets subsidised though keep going Vince you are one of the breaths of fresh air to us all stay safe
I will keep going Peter, thanks for the encouraging words!
Why do you assume he gets subsidised for council tax, is it because he cant speak English well? I can tell you plenty of English people on my estate get "subsidised". You would think them being born here would mean they could have done better for themselves.
Well done sir. Thanks for showing the facilities point. You should paint some roses and diamonds on you boat in bold primary colors. Put on top some flowers and a decorated water can.
Liked your video but I was smiling all the way through it as I couldnt stop thinking of " You were only meant to blow the bloody doors off" Keep up the good work.
Quite a few people have said that. I'll take it as a compliment! As I like him!
Just found your channel on this episode and am now going to watch your back catalogue as I find lifestyle changes, for what ever reason very inspirational. Well done for taking the plunge (no pun intended)! Safe travels.
WE apparently share age and attitude to idiots. Good job.
My oldest won a boating holiday in a works christmas raffle, booked the largest cruiser she could in the south of France, THEN thought, who do I know who can drive a boat.... Daaaad? Lol. While the boat was “all singing all dancing” with bow thrusters, the guy who introduced me to the controls was happy with my abilities enough to teach me to turn her without.
Seeing you moor up there took me back, not in the least to the night I put her in a gap with about 2’ spare for’d & aft. Similar to how you did that but I went in bow 1st, and pulled her in on the ropes.
Lovely holiday, but I’m tied to a stone class vessel for the forseable
Hello Paul, where I'm a lone boater I find it easier to jump off when going into the tighter moorings in reverse. Otherwise I would probably go bow first!
made me chuckle cheers for that and don't let the idiots get you down!.Love how you turned him being a cretin into comedy for others. Good on ya!
Your calmer than me mate, my first reply to the idiot would have been 2 words, followed by his demise if he bothered me again🤣🤣
Probably not a lot calmer than you, but I have learned lessons from the past John!
I know what you mean, I'm 60 now, idiots just seem to push my buttons lol There must be classes for them I think lol
@@johnneal7832 Ignorance and rudeness push my buttons John, but we've got to try to not let them spoil our day, (what they want)!!!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle oh god no,never let idiots spoil your day, laughing at them is a good one I find,it doesn't half upset them😂😂
So basically you are threatening to kill someone because you have a lousy temper?
Can't see what the bloke's problem was: If you departed after 14 days and your spot was immediately taken by another narrowboat...who stayed another 14 days...what's it to him?
Maybe he just got tired of your boat...wanted a change of scenery!
But if that's the only "grief" you get.... I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Life's too short.
Stay safe. Cheers From Chile!
Who knows what goes on in some peoples minds! Some people are strange!
Actually I like the location you are now at. The mental limitations suffered by some people are often frustrating but with a little ingenuity that situation can be overcome. Good on you for taking the better effort. 👍
Thanks so much for the video. I’m seriously considering buying a narrowboat. I’m in two minds about it at the minute. Your video is really helpful. Hope you’re doing well. All the best
If I were a narrow boater I would wind up like that Suez Canal mess in no time.
I’ve just subscribed to your channel. You did clearly show the other side of boating. In a way that came across positive . I’m going to start looking at your other content now. Really enjoyed watching this. Keep up the good work. And stay safe .
I like your vlogs, a refreshing change compared to other narrowboat vloggers. Keep it up, and thanks for sharing your journey.
looks like fun way of life to me...
I lived on my sailboat for 10 years in alaska.
so this would be life of riley ...
Excellent work that. I never cared for sugar-coating....much better to tell the truth
I love these videos and look forward to many more of these honest and funny video diaries.
On the subject of nutters/idiots and unwanted hassle, do you ever see any trouble or feel insecure when moored up in urban areas? Guess that is applicable to rural areas too, but not so intimidating!
Hassle is the problem! More people around means more chance of hassle I suppose!
You could get a little folding pull along trolly to help take the water to your boat, You could do it in one trip then :-)
I'd need a big water container (80 litres) to do it in one trip! Anyway I don't mind the exercise!
Sounds about right, stand your ground mate
I have just watched all your videos. I love them. You are unpretentious and calming.
I have caught up with all your videos now and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I hope you are well, keeping warm during this winter lockdown, and have not suffered any more agro. This lockdown will have been unforeseen by you, but I hope it doesn’t put you off of your chosen lifestyle. Looking forward to seeing you continue your travels when restrictions start to ease. Also I would like to say I enjoyed the video shots taken from the bow of the boat just as much as the ones from the stern. Maybe you could offer us a mixture. Just a thought! Stay safe.
Had a friend or relative needing that space. He figured to bug you enough and you would move. Life is to short to deal with IDIOTS.
Theres always one no matter where you go just take no notice that hurts them more they want you to interact they crave it so just ignore them take care buddy keep safe
I used to work on the narrow boats in brighouse years ago appolo and achilise id love to spend a
Couple days again on a boat I worked on the lock in Sowerby Bridge the deep lock thats going back 6 or 7 years

Enjoyed that and impressive mooring and it was interesting thanks.. Has anybody ever told you you sound a bit like Michael Caine!
Glad you enjoyed it! He has a much better speaking voice than me!
All the best matey! People are c**ts where ever you go, chin up and you done the right thing. Best of luck with flood waters, been tricky moored in sawbridgeworth, nearly over the bank one day then dragging on the bottom the next water fluctuating a lot at the moment. I’ll keep an eye out if you chug on past
Yes you do find a lot of Clots around (I think that's what you meant) I'll keep my eye out for someone saying hello!
Well said mate
Just smile at him and say hello yes please
This is the first time I've even heard of narrow boats. Roughly what are the dimensions of that thing? 'm in the US, Midwest no less, not very much more than a smattering of lakes and rivers. But I wanted to point out what a PRO job you did sticking that boat in that spot. Singlehandedly! Well done! I love to sit at our docks and watch the folks putting their 24 foot pontoon boats in their slips. THAT'S entertainment!
The dimensions of my boat are 50 foot long by 6 foot 10 inches wide. They have no real steering in reverse, and it took me a while to get a feel for how it handles. I still make the odd mistake!
Well done. I've just came across your channel and have Subscribed. I've watched loads of narrow-boating videos and that is the first time that I have actually came across one that shows the actual mooring of a narrowboat. Thank you for that.
Thanks for subscribing Alan. My other Vlogs are a bit happier, and show some of the nicer side to Narrowboating!

Hi Vince, just found your channel, excellent videos, brings back many memories when we had a narrow boat moored at Hallingbury Marina, sold it in 2006 when moved to Wales. We got to know the Stort and the Lea very well, often going into London for weekends and even onto the tidal Thames out of Limehouse Lock and on the Thames as far as Henley. Have a great time when you get out of lockdown, look forward to more videos.
Awesome 🤟😎💪💪
the canals and the narrowboats were here before any flats and foreigners.
We are about to buy our first boat and become continuous cruisers. We’ve holidays enough to have seen not only some homeowners hostility to boats, but also owners hostility to hirers too. When all is said and done, it’s something we really want to do. Like you, we will be continuous cruisers until infirmity forces us into a marina in the winters. You’re quite right....people cause most of the problems, and the worst are people who see themselves as some kind of half-assed police. If a narrow boat mooring near him bothers him, he can always move!.....By the way, your engine sounds quite different to me. Is it diesel? Electric?
I don't let them spoil my day though Christopher! The engine is a BMC 1.8 diesel, same as the older London Taxi's! Good luck with the Narrowboat.
Allison's don't actually bake anything, but they do mill grain into flour, which is why you can't smell any baking smells. You can buy the flour in most supermarkets.
Sounds like jealousy!!
Jealous that you are obviously happy 😊
Jealous that he doesn't own a beautiful boat like Aitch.
Jealous that he doesn't have anything better to do, like you do... cruise and chill.
Keep em coming... even walking around towns and showing the history of England is fascinating!!!
So have you been identifying birds and their songs?
I will learn more about birdsong as I go. And I love the history of some of these places, which I do, and will show more of, when we get out of this lockdown situation! Don't know how many of the vlogs that you have watched, hope you enjoy them, Vince!
