Your second point about advice is sooooo accurate. I failed on that point early on and I wish I was smart enough to tune out the noise sooner. Your third and fourth points naturally ties into the second point. Good advice all around. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate you. I subbed to this channel because of the different approach to gear talks, ethics, and business. I hope this channel and your production company continues to grow! Much success to you.
Peter mckinnon is one of the few UA-camrs who, as far as I can tell, went into UA-cam with the intent of pursuing virality and making this his full time job. Most other big creators did this as a hobby, fell into success and realised doing YT full time was a better choice than their actual job. He worked this platform immaculately, like a science and you have to respect that
Omg talking about perfect timing - we (myself, wife and my sister) are in a process of setting a similar business too (long story but mostly corporate stuff). Anyway appreciate the inside info 🙏
That's awesome! And no problem! In the rush of excitement of starting a new business you kind of miss some of the fundamentals so always good to kind of address those and some things to think about early on that will help you in the future!
I just launched my own production company, Clear Creek Films LLC, and this channel has helped me tremendously. I've read and watched a lot of content so I can learn as much as possible but this channel has helped me the most. 🙏
*Global Archetype Paradigm, LLC* One technique for naming your business is something like Reverend Al & Associates. I was in graphic design and people in advertising, design, publicity often did this. No need to do a fictitious business name filing in that circumstance. Can use your personal checking account and credit rating for business. Learning accounting was a definite positive for me.
True, still good to at least give yourself set up as some kind of business entity. But for real, accounting and learning when to spend money on new gear and grow your business is tricky.
As much as I hate it when people shoot on film (expensive, wasteful and environmentally irresponsible)... I love film grain, I really liked how you used it in the video
Yeah, it's always hard to find people with good advice too though isn't it? Everyone always wants to act like they are so successful when in fact it's such a hard industry to work in and you're grinding it out constantly even if you've made it with some higher end clients. Hope you're liking this content though! Trying some new stuff out without getting too much into "this will help you make a million dollars" kind of crap content
@@FrameVoyager damn, being a designer really helps ma understand a ton more about branding and stuff most people lack in it thus get a job in film insudtry which i dont think is worth
“I find a lot of people don’t understand the corporate environment” **insert shots of Tim for the entire point** - Guess he’s talking about Tim not understanding the corporate environment 😂
Tip #2 is wrong. Often the people who win at life know the least about how much luck and circumstance played into their successes and therefore have the least awareness of how many ways it can go wrong. That said, there is significant merit in seeking out advice from people who've made it to where you want to go.

Can you do a video about how you protect your BMPCC 6k pro from the elements when shooting? snow, dust, rain, heat etc?

Appreciate that! Just trying to look at everything from a different perspective!

The only non-clickbait UA-cam video with this title 🦝
Appreciate that!
Kelly Clarkson tip was very good! Particularly for Television lots of people have advice for you - after all they watch TV
I'm gonna need that business card (2:34) on a t-shirt. ASAP.
You got it! haha
Great advice! All lessons I have learnt.
Also I have just changed my company name today because people kept spelling it wrong.
You learn fast haha 😂😂😂

Thanks! And yeah, just overlayed some grain to it. I kinda like switching it up a bit
I think the key takeaway from this video is .. in order to be successful, you absolutely need matching polos for your crew. 😂
😂😂😂 your fashion funeral 😅
Great tips John! Thanks :)
No problem! Thanks for watching!
Great advice. I’m battling the name change issue right now. Thanks
It's such a pain! I learned the hard way even though I knew better haha
Fantastic video man!
Thank you so much.
No problem! Hope it was helpful!
You should set countdown for Arri Alexa 35. some images and details are already leaked.
I like when real industry people come and teach on youtube. simply mimics the Film School:)

@@FrameVoyager yeah thats all crap, being best in your craft wont make you money! instead be best with business and sales
@@aahritya_tv for sure! Of course there is always a level of skill needed but 60-70% of it isn't even about the videos

but matching polos are cool 😎
