Loved hearing your story on the growth of your company! I have been a freelance DP for almost 10 years and have recently started a production company. I am signing a lease today on my first office space! I am excited and nervous so hearing how you guys have approached things throughout the years is super insightful.
@@themeankitty100 Hey man! I appreciate you asking. This year has turned into the absolute biggest and busiest year of my career. Ironically though it has kept me away from my office space for most of the time I have had it haha.
The timing on this is perfect. I just rented my first space outside of home, 700 sq ft. I already have a bunch of gear, lighting and grip equipment. I felt it was time to grow! I hope I can grow out of this space in 6 months. One question I have is how to move to a higher “tier” of high paying clients.
@@paperdogmedia5137 Extremely rough. The hardest thing I have learned is that not having an editor will kill your production flow. I simply cannot keep up with the projects but am not making enough to hire an editor. On top of that it is really hard to find high paying clients in my area. My good paying jobs have all been out of state via other marketing companies that don't have a video production unit. Most of the time, my gear is sitting in a $300/month storage unit.
You guys are killing it, after 15yrs of not doing video work and focusing on opening my own brewery to suddenly being called to do video work because of covid (hard pause on brewery). I appreciate seeing you guys build a business and sharing you passion.
Knowing you two a bit, you undersell how hard you both worked to get where you are. There wasn’t any trick to the success of Threefold that I can see, just lots of hard work, strong talent and a dedication to turn out the best work possible. And being very nice people.
I'm just starting out: 1 man band, GH5, that sort of stuff. I've only had a couple of clients but lots of repeat work with them. It's so inspiring to hear stories of when you guys were just starting!
Awesome videos, subscribed. I just started my own production company, and its definitely a scary thing. But after hearing your journey I am definitely inspired and more at ease. Thank you guys 👍🏼
This was perfect timing for me to hear, I am just finalizing paperwork to sign an editor to my production house, and a business manager/sales person...have felt very intimidated by making sure they're taken care of but this was encouraging.
Thanks for doing this. Always interesting and a place for learning knowing how you build your business. I bet folks would be interested in hearing more in-depth on this. Good on ya. Keep it up!
Wow this video went by so fast, some really good info in there and looking forward to part two for sure. As someone who is at the point where they are looking into the idea of hiring on crew those parts were really helpful to hear. Wish there was more content like this talking about the business side of a video production company.
Hahaha k I've seen this video before a while back... and now rewatching it I just noticed you guys switching seats and the moustache-less Caleb in a few spots !!! Literally got me laughing out loud in that 30 second intro 🤣🤣
thanks for sharing your story. I just posted a video some days ago where I named your company. You gave me a brilliant idea with you costum made shelf (carpet). I have made this for my new tiny studio as well and this was the first thing I have made. Helps me every day. Love your videos. You could post some client work - really wanna see it. Greets from Austria
1- any thoughts on adding non service work to you reel? Narrative? South Dakota Smear Campaigns? 2- How did you get by without the production truck? Does it have a nickname?
Any and all grip equipment including lighting equipment like Frames, floppy, c stands... What positions did you hire for? Looking at getting 2-3 people in my production company and not sure if I should go with all people with production skills or more on the editing/graphic design or marketing/sales department.
Great job guys! Your story is very inspiring to me, I'm currently trying to grow my (very) fledgling production studio here in CT, and what you're doing is exemplary.
I just found your channel and I’m really glad I did, I love the information you provide as well as your demeanor. For a giveaway I’d love to have you review different brands of external monitors/recorders as well as pocket audio recorders.
one of the things I'm really curious about leans towards the legal and business side. You may have talked about it in the past, but since this is my first time seeing one of your videos I figure I might as well ask here. Did you file as an LLC or any sort of corporation when you were starting, and did you have any legal help in the beginning? I'm transitioning from freelancing with several prod. companies to starting my own company and am really looking for those first steps outside of gear and RTC.

Thanks Jason, we really appreciate all the support you've given us since the beginning!
It was fitting that UA-cam dished up a Savage C-Stand ad prior to me watching this. Keep it up gents, great stuff here.

@@threefoldtv Woof...nothing like a good push off the cliff to learn how to fly. We'll see what happens this year.
Thank you!

I loved this video and would like to see more. What are some red flags to look out for with new clients? What are some signs of a really good client?

Thank you for answering my question.
This is quite insightful. I am working on building a team this year and I have been debating on getting permanent people vs on contract.

Why did you start a UA-cam channel? Does it serve as a portfolio? Help future clients find you? Passion Project?

What if I wanted to have a remote production company at home? How would I do it.

Whats your process for finding locations, actors and props that are needed in your videos?
Possibly a 3080 ti give away??
I would love an amazing flag and diffusion give away lol
Don’t I need legal zoom or get a license for a production company.
at what age did you guys actually started chasing this passion?
Hmmm... continuity doesn’t add up here lol
Lol we are glad somebody has taken notice! 😉
TWA Flight 800 - What Really happened. Make a movie out of it.
The flip-flop editing style in the beginning of the video kinda discombobulated me. I'm also high as fuck so....
