    I think it's very clear from all the comments on this thread that you did an excellent job conveying how to access the Climate Control Display. Thanks for the great video and instruction. You've given me the confidence for doing the job myself on my car. Again...thanks for the great video and instruction.

    I’ve taken a dash out of a donor car , so I know I can do it, but I’ve got to remove the dash out of my beloved 91 GTO to access the 3 gauge pod, and I’ve been putting it off because I want to do it with more care this time. Your video is very timely for me , as it is a thorough guide to doing it carefully. Thanks for starting the channel, and good luck with growing your subscriptions.

    On my car the lights on the unit only work on the buttons on one side, is there a bulb on each side behind the buttons that illuminate it, the display still works fine thankfully?

    • @3000GTGTORestoration
      @3000GTGTORestoration  4 роки тому +2

      Hi.
      There is a separate bulb for each side. You will need to remove the display unit to gain access to the bulbs at the rear. You do not need to open the unit up. A simple flat blade screw driver will turn the bulb a quarter turn anti clockwise to remove it.

    You saved me. My climate control screen burned out on my 93 stealth r/t twin turbo. I've had this car 30 years and as you know parts are impossible to come by sometimes. I was trying to find someone to help me because I have neuro problems with my hands due to a car accident. I watched this video a few times, picked up the extra tools you described and decided to do it myself. It was a success, although my shaking lost a couple of screws. Took longer to find new screws, than to follow your directions and remove it myself. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I did send it to the ebay Texas repair. I will now check your channel when the next thing needs repair. Lea from Minnesota

The display just failed and your video was absolutely essential to me to remove the display and controller. One question: even with magnetic tip screwdrivers, I managed to lose several screws into the abyss. I will buy more. Must I locate these for fear of rattling noises after I fix and reinstall?

    Thanks for a very informative video. I need to replace my dash vents on my 92 RT TT but have been hesitant after reading the manual. Your video takes a lot of the fear out of it. I look forward to part two. Now a question, any chance you know of a replacement for the radio encoder (volume control) for the original factory radio? I need to replace mine but have had no luck in finding a replacement. Thanks.

    • @3000GTGTORestoration
      @3000GTGTORestoration  4 роки тому

      Most standard radio's will work but some will require a cable adapter. If you want to use the steering wheel controls, you may need a interface but it will depend on the make and model of radio. If you are not changing the radio and you are just having problems with the steering, volume controls, they are a very basic piece of electronics that is very easy to repair. The main problem they have is dry joints so you should be able to fix it yourself or get it fixed locally. I am what you might call a purist so I never use anything other than original specification parts so I am probably not the best person to talk to about changing radio's or using non standard parts. I would recommend talking to your local mitsubishi dealer for advice or a car audio specialist. They will hopefully have a lot of experience in this area. If you are not confident with the advice they give, then post a message in a forum and hope there is someone who has had experience with this issue. I have also attached a picture of a product from the states that claims to give hassle free interface but I haven't tried it myself. Maybe you could give them a call. Don't forget that if your buttons are faulty, the interface won't work.

      3000GT / GTO Restoration. The original Stealth / Mitsubishi radio’s had an issue with the volume controls failing. They use a rotary encoder rather than a resistor to change level and I have been trying to find a replacement encoder for mine since the original is no longer made. I started out going to local dealers but they know nothing about these cars. One even told me it was time to buy something new!? Anyway, I have been searching the internet but can’t find a replacement that matches the original. Changing it out is pretty simple, take the radio apart and three solder joints later it’s done - if I can find a replacement that is. So if you have any leads I can follow that would be great, otherwise, no worries.

      Installation is the exact reverse of removal. At the moment, I am only doing strip down, testing and repair videos for free. Later in the year, I will be doing a dvd collection which will cover hundreds of manufacturing tips, overhauling, re-assembly, re-conditioning, part identification, restoration and rare part sources. There will be a small charge for the dvds but any one of the jobs covered in the dvd, will cover the cost of the entire dvd. The dvds will be in 5 parts covering interior, exterior, engine, drive chain and other areas. These free videos have cost me $1000s so I hope you will consider supporting me when the dvds become available. Which country are you in Seth?
