      Politics ruins art... Most car makers don't make really good looking cars because then no one would buy another car after that... the business model is middle-class people buying the next version every 5-10 years. Add to that, manufacturer alliances such as Mitsubishi-Nissan-Renault, and now only one car maker does each type of body style and does not compete... Only a seperation of body & technology will allow artistic cars again...

      Eric Her none of these cars were ever affordable for the middle class when new LOL if you calculate inflation the 3000GT VR4 was $85,000, the VR4 Spyder was over $120K, the 300ZX was $70K, RX-7 was $75K, Supra was $80K, NSX was $150K and some over $200K, and the GTR-R34 was $150K not sure what you mean affordable to middle class LOL theres a reason why these cars are still expensive and appreciating, these arent miatas or 370Z shit boxes. These cars were supercars of their times, not normal everyday sports cars like a BRZ LOL

    • @kokkoro-chan2319
      @kokkoro-chan2319 3 роки тому +19

      Michael Dolan not much. You can find some less than 5k. I’ve got my own vr4 from the year it came out so it has all the things you want. But I don’t have the time nor money to fix it up to my liking. The only problem that you will run into is the ones that are basically dead and need a lot of work. I’m lucky that I found one that runs and drives with most of the quirks working for 2500. I just can’t drive it hard due to not running for 11 years. So I need to rebuild of a lot stuff especially the turbos since they are consuming tons of oil. Other than that it is a cheaper build but most people won’t like to work on it because the engine bay is so cramped. But once done that engine sounds beautiful I know

      @Denchik ShowEm The first one I bought was a brand new one in 1998. Had to sell it when I got married. Didn't make as much money then, so I needed some more "family friendly".
      Second one was 8 yrs later. Much better job = much more money. So I bought one as a secondary vehicle to my Jeep. Had it for a couple years and was involved in an accident and it was totaled.
      The 3rd one I bought was from a friend of mine that needed money and was moving overseas, so I picked it up. Now that one wasn't treated well. A bunch of work needed to bring it up to my standards. So I sold it to my nephew super cheap so he could put the work in to it to bring it up to par.
      So seeing one like this (super clean) makes me wanting another one. And if I were to get one again ... I would want something tuned and a beast.
      Like I said before... This is one of my all-time favorite cars. I have so much nostalgia with them.

Find friends with 3S's. That will save you tons of time and headache and it'll make things more fun. If you have to and there isn't one already, start a local 3S club, I did that and it was one of the best things I could have ever done. Final word of advice having been exactly in your shoes in 2007, if you want to be serious about, don't let relationships get in your way, if they don't fully support the passion, they won't last anyway, your mistress will be your Stealth and chances are she'll treat you better than any human will over the long run so long as you do the same for her. When I was younger I really wanted a 3000GT, but there were very few in my area to begin with, and the ones that would pop up for sale were way too expensive for my college boy budget....This was back in 2001-2002.
    So I ended up getting a 1G AWD Talon and just modified it (20G, PowerFC, FIC 850cc, Sheptrans, custom FMIC, 3" turbo back, etc.).

    For those of us who have been watching this particular build we know it took a hell of a lot more than just 10 minutes and a lot of solid effort and thoughtful work went into this project to make it a awesome reliable give away car. Makes me wish I had the money to buy the $500 3000GT I saw on Marketplace. For most people this is a project car that is just Out Of Reach. If I was to get any car right now regardless of how much money I had it would be a 3000GT or Dodge Stealth RT TT

    Gorgeous car - really is right up there with the Skylines and Supras, IMO... Man Japan, why don't you make cars like this anymore? 😢 Seemed like every Japanese manufacturer was pumping out at least one great looking sports car in the late 90s and early-mid 2000s.

    I come from a JDM family and I’m proud of that. When my dad was 17, he had a 300zx twin turbo and when he was 19, he had a 97 mk4 twin turbo supra and his brother(my uncle) has an rb25 swapped s14 240. When my mom was 15, she had a 3000gt and an eclipse with a long factory spoiler and her brother(also my uncle) had a straight piped 350z with sick rims. A few years back my dad had an 09 r35 gtr which also counts as a jdm I guess. 🤷‍♂️ 😎

    Since then, I've added a jet fighter carbon fiber hood, 19" Moda R6 18x9.5 rims, a Spec stage 2 clutch, K&N Fipk and HKS cat back exhaust w/hi flow cat. Lastly I added Goodrich ss brake lines, EBC slotted rotors & hawk hps pads to improve his brake components. The final step was changing his differential to a chromoly upgraded unit from 3SX motorsports which lessens the rotating mass of the drive train and allows the car to put down more power to the wheels. Dropping the % loss down to around 15% instead of 20. That is the extent of what modifications are made as he wants the car to at its core, remain as stock as possible while eliminating any glaring constraints the original set-up has. His car is a great example of how you can make the original stock design better without compromising the reliability.
