- We know that Sansevieria plants are one of the easiest houseplants to care for. They are the perfect indoor plants for beginners because they are easy to care for and almost un-killable. Almost… That's because you can still kill a snake plant...Confession, I have killed a snake plant before... In today’s video I’ll share with you some of the ways to kill your snake plants so you can hopefully you can avoid the same mistake I made. We’ll also propagate the Zeylanica and Whale Fin through the division and water method. Enjoy

I have had my snake plant for 43 years!
Sansevieria should be called friendship plant. I end up giving away so many to my friends through propagation and mainly diversion. They keep making babies!!
The most difficult thing about Sanseveria is remembering to call them Dracaena.
I could have cried when you cut that whale fin. I can't touch one for less than $60 USD and I've never seen one in a store. I wish you were my neighbor; we could have some good trades. I divide my little snakes. I just noticed this morning that my starfish, which came to me as a hot mess, is pushing out a baby. I found it on the ground in the store and the plant was snapped off the rhizome. I babied it for a few weeks and propped it up with big river stones and here we are. My friends will be fighting over who gets the new baby. I just wish they had something to trade back with me, but all their plants originated with me. It's ok.
I love snake plants now... I used to look down on them as though they were the McDonald's fast food of the plant world... but have great appreciation for them now. One propagation tip that has helped me which I believe has made a difference. I find I have much better success rate and faster root development if I let the cuttings heal for a week before putting in water or soil. When I put them straight into water, many times the cut will get soft and start to rot. It takes some patience but I think it's worth letting the cut dry out a few days.
Snake plants are one of my favs. I do the division method. My mother plant has given me 3 new plants so far 🌵🌱
I definitely killed one when I was a new plant mom, overwatering, wintertime, then when it started looking bad I fertilized. It was quite painful to watch...😖
Nice video....
Yes l killed my snake plant . Over watering.
I went from having no snake plants to having a samurai, a superba, and a moonlight. All in the last few days lol.
Perfect timing for this video…I just bought a medium size Sansevieria that was literally busting out of its pot with a new 2-leaf baby the same size...Now I know where to cut, and not to be afraid to cut! I refuse to call them snake plants because I have a phobia about snakes. 😳 They will always be Sansevieria to me. I also have a large Mother-in-Law’s Tongue. I do love all plants that only need to be watered once a month! Thanks again! 💕
I propagated a leaf a month ago in soil and he’s got roots. First time ever propagating so I’m super happy
That whale fin 🐋 is so in my wishlist
Even as a newbie plant parent these were never a fav. But I’ve become obsessed, I love them now!! Thanks for all the great info. And so nice to know you are local 🤗
I’ve killed one before, when I was first getting into plants. Right before they took over my life lol. After that
Jus bought my first snake plant clippings and this helped me to understand the process much better. I can't wait to watch them grow 😍 in time. Thank you for explaining this process clearly and thank you for the time in making this video (and all your videos) so easy to follow
For me, Division. Snakeplant ties for my #1 favorite houseplant. 💚🌱 It’s so easy to care for and I love that no two are ever close to the exact same.
I really like how you put the times for when you’re covering what! It helps a lot! Thank you! 💚
I almost killed my snake plant from overwatering but 15 years later still going strong
I was at Walmart and I saw this 4" snake plant. It wasn't even in a pot. It was laying there roots all out waiting to die. I used to work there and I know they would throw it away. So I picked it up shoved it back into it's pot & bought it. When I got home I transplanted it. I named it "Lucky" cause it's lucky to be alive. It is very happy now. It has grown 2" & had a baby.
