    GTM 410 Detailed Description
    The car features a built and tuned LS7 delivering 660HP through a custom made Mendeola SDR5 racing transaxle. Custom designed BC Forged 2 piece wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sports keep the GTM on the road with help from an air cooled Z06 performance brake package and Racelogic Traction Control system. With nearly 600 ft/lbs of torque, the combination has the ability to rocket the 2800 lb GTM past 60mph in 2.8 seconds. Technology includes a digital multiplexing electrical system and Android/PC WiFi interface for door, window, light and engine starting functions using a phone or the installed Samsung Tablet and PC screens. A Windows solid state PC and 10.1” flat screen provide the entertainment while the custom made carbon fiber overhead console and drop down Samsung tablet give the driver the necessities to include OBDII readout, optional gauges, volume control, engine start, AC/Heat, fog lights hazards, Race Logic digital controller and launch button. Parking is made simple with rear and forward facing cameras. The interior is fitted with Braum racing seats and 5 point cam-lock harnesses, hand made carbon fiber door panels and armrests fitted with controllers for the doors, windows and mirrors. The carbon fiber Instrument cluster houses 3 Speed Hut 5-1/4 round performance style analog gauges that include GPS Speedometer, shift lighted RPM gauge and quad gauge displaying oil PSI, coolant temp, voltage and fuel level of the dual TIG welded tanks. With all of this comes a color 240 page Maintenance Reference manual written by the builder, GTM assembly manual and 60 GB of data to include documentation, build photos, videos, data, wiring diagrams and instructions. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A TALANTED FABRICATOR/BUILDER AS THIS MAN! I happened to stumble upon this video and was totally amazed. His ability to work with aluminum, carbon fiber and electronics says to me that he is one-of-a-kind guy. His finished product is indeed a very nice work of art. If I were to buy a FF car, I would offer him a price that he could just not refuse! Just WOW! Everything he did was precisely thought-out, executed and achieved in spades. I truly wish that I had such great talent as him. Kudos to you sir!!! PS: you garage looked immaculate at all times, which is a labor in and of itself.

      Jeff,
      Sometimes I miss a post or two but reviewed some today and saw this. Thanks a million for the kind words. That means alot. More than the shows I typically go to where most don't know how to deal with the combination. As a kid building airplane models, I couldn't stand when they weren't perfect. Then I learned how to overcome and keep pressing. I blew up many of them or burned them. So, while you need to be patient and press through the challenges, you need to be a little crazy too. I took best of show a few weeks back, stealing it from a large crowd of classic car buffs. About 300 cars. The field had only a few modern cars. The two judges fought the others and ultimately persuaded the others to judge the effort and actual quality regardless of make or year. He was a past lead engineer for Evinrude and now lives here near the bay. That set this car way beyond the others. It was the work and every bit of what you say. Not bragging at all but I put all I had in this car. That comes from a guy who grew up building models, RC Planes, radios and then 25 years of heavy structures, composites , avionics...and then designer of structural mods on aircraft. I'm now the lead T-6 aircraft program manager in the Navy. I've been lucky to have the experience topped off with the money, attitude, health and a supportive family. Thats one hell of a laundry list for a single guy to have and put into a car. I'm as lucky as the car is impressive. Thanks my friend!

    Point is .... I was really considering to get this car to build it but after watching this video, it cleared all my doubts out and am giving up on getting it. Most notably the roof scoop. I was saying to myself "where does the water that it sucks in go?"... you answered my question.... Secondly the refinements that had to be done to get a quality job were so much needed! The styling on the rear end.... The interior... cf door cards .... you gave the interior an aircraft feel ... superb :) .....Best GTM!

Sure he bought a kit but then he took it to a completely other level!! Even the guy who owns Factory Five must be like, "Well damn"!!! My GTM is a dirty old dump truck next to this thing!! Extremely impressive. You have so many well engineered modifications in your build. I'm trying to grab inspiration, to continue my work on GTM #33 and finish my build, and watching yout video is doing just that. I converted my E-brake with the the same actuator. I put mine in the engine bay to the side of the transaxle.

    • @pixelsight5783
      @pixelsight5783  5 років тому

      Thanks. GTM videos inspired me and kept the pressure on. BTW...The Ebrake works great. Having LED's near your toggle are needed to tell you when its on and off. The benefit of being in the tunnel is I can hear it load up. Red light goes on in any position other than off. Green goes on when off. You could do a limit switch but cable stretch over time will require adjustment of the limit. Hearing it is just like feeling it. Good luck.

    Great Job! All the work looks good. This is easily one of the top 3 or4 GTM builds i've ever seen. Excellent work! I plan on building one of these myself. I especially like the overhead console and of course the main screen. I had saw one where a father/son spent a year or so building one of these cars. they did paddle shifters on theirs. Which, really turned out great. They also had a working airbag and all kinds of little cool tidbits. i like looking at all the best builds and get ideas for my build when i eventually get started on it. Excellent build tho. I also really liked the color coordinated Yellow carbon fiber on the door panels. Again, great build!

      Yes. Thats one area the GTM is really a fun project. There's plenty of room for DIY. It begs for it in many areas. Unlike a basic kit like a Cobra, which can be really a simple yet nostalgic and very cool car, the GTM is a supercar shell without the guts. OK, its definitely a performer out of the box but possibilities are endless. I was very fortunate to have learned skills working aircraft though.

    You obviously have airplane building / maintenance experience. I've been debating going the easy route and just using the pop rivets and doing it the right way with solids.

    • @pixelsight5783
      @pixelsight5783  4 роки тому

      Yes. And you can use solids in many areas but the pop rivets do provide for easy removal where needs. Nutplates and stainless rivnuts are a huge maintenance time saver.

    Great looking GTM!!! I have to ask, were you working a full time job and doing this build, or was this five full years of pure dedication to the GTM? I would lose motivation on anything after a year of working on one project. I love the GTM style and performance, thank you for the great video.

      Full time program manager. Worked nights and weekends. A tough kit to build so keep researching. A year would be tight but with money, time, skill, self reliance, good health and organization, it's possible. Check out VRaptor Speedworks.

Wanna make it a fun weekend car and road course car. Did you use the painless wiring kit they have out now? This kit looks so amazing and promising. Love your project man! Amazing machine! And detail!

      Austin,
      Good on you. I'm an A&P gone engineer...gone Program Manager. It was the A&P skills and tools that topped off this build. Started as an F-15 structures guy in the Air Force. Worked Depot on fighters rebuilding wings, tails and doing mods. Finished that career after 25 years and 10 Type/Model military civilian aircraft.
      I did not use the painless kit but I would if I were you. I used Infinity box, a computerized system which probably means I'll need to buy a backup....just in case. Check out my build site at gtm410.com There's a boatload of info there.

    I have a few questions about your panels that you ceramic coated.
    What ceramic coating did you use for the paneling?
    Is it something that requires a top coat of paint or can it be used on its own?
    Can you apply it yourself or does a shop need to do it?
    How durable is it?
    Lastly, how much of an effect do you think it had on heat transfer? (Which is what I’m mainly concerned with)
    Your car is amazing. You did an incredibly job assembling it. I hope mine turns out as good as yours when I’m done.
    Almost forgot. Would it be wise to use an impact resistant structural adhesive between the chassis and the panels before riveting?

    • @pixelsight5783
      @pixelsight5783  5 років тому

      No. The ceramic requires a primer. I used epoxy. The ceramic is from Eastwood. It is very scratch resistant but very hard too so its good for certain areas that are cleaned often and when chemical resistance is a plus. They remain looking good through the build and after. Simply tough as he'll.

    • @pixelsight5783
      @pixelsight5783  5 років тому

      In terms of the structural adhesive, I would not use it between body and chassis. I actually have urethane bushings at the rear license plate mount and allow the rubber and roll cage padding to do the rest. If you want some bond, you might consider Pro seal. 8802, B4 sealant and some other names specifying aircraft fuel cell, panel or seam sealant provides a pretty good bond. If you want to fill gaps, A4 metal set is a good cost effective adhesive. Its similar to what we used on aircraft structures Hysol EA934 for "liquid shim". Good filler, hard and ok bond characteristics. JB weld is about the closest Lowes alternative. Marine Tex is another decent 2 part structural adhesive I've used. Overall you want a little flex to accommodate vibration and expansion or cold/heat shrinking and expansion. Hard structural adhesives are better for fixed bonding of smaller parts or shinning, to rid gaps in areas where it matters to prevent pre-load on fastened parts. Typically you would install wet but not Torque or rivet until after cure. You just need to make sure its clamped or fastened in place where you want it before cure.
