If I’m not mistaken, his dad co-signed for him to get the gun - even though he was suicidal, had a police record, and had violent tendencies.

Me too. It is heartbreaking but at the same time, that lady was so brave, willing to risk her own life to protect the life of her grandchild. Much respect to you, lady! You're one of the heroes of that horrible day. I'm a native Texan in Houston, with friends in Dallas, and although I didn't know any victim personally, it still really hits close to home. All my prayers go out to those in Dallas right now.

The one story that sticks to me from this shooting is the mother and father who were there with their toddler and both parents shielding the baby, they were both killed. There is a gofundme that has raised I believe close to $3 million for the toddler as he is now with his grandparents. Just heartbreaking all the while showing that parents will do anything, like take bullets, to protect their children
I pray the money is used wisely and he gets the love and good guidance he will need to navigate this life into teen and adulthood.
Duh! As a father I myself would do the same and ide also do it for anyone's kid!.. couldn't imagine being able to live knowing I let an innocent child die when I could have saved him/her.. Ide then track down the suspect myself and hold him hostage and contact all the families and allow them exclusive access into a room with the suspect

Having problems with the police is not a crime they never charged him with anything so technically there's nothing that would be found in a background check. This is the conundrum with mentally unstable people purchasing weapons unless they are charged with something or are identified and treated by self reporting or being reported they can legally purchase weapons and carryout whatever they wish.

My friend was almost shot, it gives me chills about how they would’ve died or got shot. My friend was sitting in the target zone but her sister was ramming her scooter into some bikes so they moved eventually. Another thing that breaks my heart is that one of the people killed really didn’t want to go, but he was unable to stay home alone.

Crimo was questioned by police twice in 2019 first for threatened suicide and then a second time for threatening to kill his entire family.
Someone tell me how he was able to legally purchase any firearm. The situation smells fishy. What good is a background check if a known mentally unstable individual can pass through the system that easily.
Why do normal ordinary citizens need guns anyway? The rest of the world gets on good with no access to guns.

his parents, his father, should also be held accountable,, believing that he was still living at home. His father believed he would only take the guns to the shooting range. Police had already been involved him and parents when they confiscated many knives from his house. This should set an example that parents can also be held responsible and jailed. My belief is that example would 'encourage' more parents to do the right thing.

I respect responsible gun owners. They shoot safely and store there weapons properly. But I wish there were some way to screen shooters with history of violence and attempted suicide, like this guy. There isn't. In my life, I've seen Presidents John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan shot, famous entertainers like John Lennon shot, always by someone who should not have had a weapon. We need to get a handle on this epidemic somehow.

The problem is somebody that is perfectly healthy and mentally fit can purchase a firearm and then later have a mental break and now legally own a firearm. There is realistically nothing that anybody can do to prevent a gun from getting into the wrong person's possession.

There needs to be a cultural change to say that guns aren't cool, attacking someone in anger isn't cool, guns are for hunting, sport, and self defense only, etc.

The governor needs to address talking about family members behaving like what they are supposed to be - caring, responsible adults and becoming involved with these kids who are obviously troubled and sending all kinds of smoke signals on social media. I keep saying it - these are avoidable tragedies - they start at home right under your own noses, but unless you interact, keep track and show your children that you love them and know when to intervene, they will continued to stray away and into more despair and pain until they can't stand it anymore and take out on innocent people. Those two men that lived in the property with Robert are absolute failures as uncles and adults. Can you imagine having a nephew that looks so obviously disturbed and not caring to find out what was happening to him, how he felt, what he was going through? A bunch of weapons brought into the property undetected? This uncle in the video didn't even know if Robert was working or what he was up to. His only relation to this young man was saying hello and bye in passing. Robert Crimo could have been stopped if only those adults around him had given a damn.

Well that's easy to say when you haven't lived with the person. Maybe they have tried and tried and the kid simply refuses to socialize with them. I had a step daughter like this. She flat out refuses to be with the family that loves her very much. She even took off for 5 yrs and we had no idea where she was when she was only 18 yrs old. Even to this day she's hard to reach and talk things over with. When we try, she shuts down and leaves. So I get what you're saying, however it's not that simple at all.

I would go to school, skip classes and go uptown, maybe I would get back on the bus to go home or maybe I wouldn't and I would come home days later. I KNEW that they didn't care about me and I didn't care about them, but that didn't make me want to go out and KILL INNOCENT people!
