This has to be one of the better top water videos I have seen! I really need some of that kind of action in my life! I also love that you guys show each other a lot of respect and space up front!
It was definitely one of my favorite trips this year. I've had some good interactions with other fisherman out on the water this year. It gives me hope that camaraderie between fisherman is not dead! Thanks!
That mini pontoon is so cool. You were in a catch position for sure. Since the design of the whopper plopper it has become one, if not the best top water baits ever. The between the toons landing and release is a classic. Thanks for the great video. 😆
I've had this boat for 25 yrs or so. Thought about getting a kayak but this boat is so portable it's hard to switch. Whopper plopper for the win always! Thanks!
Great fun. Last fall I was pre-fishing a bass club tournament when the wipers stating hitting shad in the middle of a large cove. I trolled out there quickly and started throwing a white swim jig with a Keitech trailer. Managed to boat 8 wipers about 16 to 18 inches in 20 minutes. It was a blast.
Man having a watercraft that you can yank off the back of the truck in a flash and get back out in the water is a great thing. The Thunder got brought that evening.
Not only is the boat portable but the fish don't seem to notice it when I'm sitting still. I often look down and see fish swimming underneath me. The thunder was brought by both me and the fish. Thanks!
What a great example of "run and gun" fishing! I could tell you weren't fishing for walleyes because everyone was cordial about sharing the resource, and $90K walleye boats weren't bumping into each other! Thanks for sharing, and I notice you subs are creeping up so folks can see what i've been enjoying for a while.
I've been thinking about getting a different boat but for this type of fishing my boat is just about perfect. Yes the people I've been encountering lately have been very polite and willing to share so that has been nice. A lot of new people checking out the channel lately. It's nice to feel like I'm putting out something worth watching! Thank you!
I moved to Oklahoma from Kansas and here they call wipers hybrids and white bass sand bass. It took me awhile to get used to the new lingo lol. White bass are a blast to catch and even more fun when you hook onto a decent size wiper. Tight lines man!
Yes a lot of different names for them but no matter what you call them they are a blast! I hear you guys have some giants in Oklahoma! I hope to get down there some day to try it.
@@BackroadsAngling I haven't caught any crazy big ones down here. They are heavily fished down here so they don't get as big as you think they would. Now I have seen some big wipers caught down here and some good sized largemouth bass.
@My Classic Car Story ohhhh you're missing out my friend! April and May. Find the dams before the flood gates open and you'll rewarded day time for wipers and whitebass, evening for monster stripers.
I chase a school of white base this morning, using Whopper Plopper without luck only until switching to Rooster Tail then I can land some good size fishes. Maybe the color of my Whopper Plopper is not correct?
I think it just varies by body of water. In my lake they are keying so heavily on shad that match my plopper in size and color. They can't help but smash it. Also, they are really pinning shad to the surface in this lake which makes a topwater the perfect bait. If a rooster tail was working then maybe they were looking for bait that was under the surface instead of on top.

@@BackroadsAngling Thank you for the details & suggestion. Do you know that they have Whopper Plopper with size smaller than 9? I think at our lake the white bass are chasing smaller shad so I would like to try with other settings of the lures. Thank you.
@@BackroadsAngling haha no I understand. Maybe one day we should fish together and meet up in iowa. Always wamted to try for wipers in iowa. If only we have wipers here in south dakota
I've been looking at different types of portable fishing boats, including pontoons like you have. Just wondering if it's a Classic Accessories Colorado (or another brand), how long you've had it, and how well you like it? Thanks in advance... tight lines!!! 😎😁
I bought this boat about 25 yrs ago and I can't remember what company made it. The logo has long worm off. I love it and I think the fact that I've had it so long speaks to that. I've taken it through thick and thin over rocks snd branches etc and it just won't pop or break. I've thought about getting a kayak but portability is very important to me. There are many situations where I carry my boat into a very difficult launch spot that I wouldn't be able to get a kayak into. I would recommend it especially to anyone who wants an extreme portability.
@@BackroadsAngling 25 years definitely speaks to the quality of your pontoon. Thanks again for the information... I've loved watching your hybrid video too by the way!!!

Love the scream of the drag and the topwater explosion!!!
Me too. I hardly ever see them this fired up but when I do it's usually one of my better fishing days of the year.
Definitely one of the better topwater videos I have watched on UA-cam to be honest!!
Wow, thanks! I really appreciate that. It was one of the most fun fishing trips I've had in awhile!
Nothing better than topwater fishing. Great video!
I couldn't agree more. Thanks!
This is an amazing sight! Seeing all the wipers surfacing! Like a fish orchestra!
It was like a scene from National Geographic. They didn't even care that my boat was there which was pretty cool. Thanks!
@@BackroadsAngling This looked very similar to how it is on a lake I fish in Kansas during spring and lake fall. Fish on!
Great top water action for sure.
My best day in quite awhile! Thank you!
The hook in the hand suspense was intense 😳. Nice
Yes, I keep forgetting my net when I go on these trips and sometimes it costs me with a hook to the hand. Thanks!

It's always a present surprise when you stumble onto a school like that!
Reminds me of dry fly fishing for trout on a hatch. Super fun video. Thank you.
Yes, it's very similar. Just replace the hatching bugs with cornered shad and you've got a recipe for some topwater madness! Thanks!

Ya, I was way late for work that day but I wasn't about to leave one of the best topwater bites I have seen. Thanks for watching!

I spend a lot of nights searching and nothing happens. That makes it even more special when you finally hit it right and the bite is on! Thanks!
What fun those top water hits are awesome
The adrenaline rush when the fish are firing like this is hard to explain! I had to take a few minutes and calm down after it was all over!
White bass was Mama's favorite fish to eat.
It's pretty tasty. Next time I will keep some!
Heck yeah! Just the video I needed to start my morning!
Oh Ya! Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Living in Indiana, we're still a few months away from some excellent white bass action, but this definitely got me fired up.
The warm weather and sundown/sunrise blowups can't come soon enough! Thanks for watching!
Good Night; I wish I could get a decent opportunity for some wiper fishing. They're SO vigorous!
Yes it was the most fun I've had on the water in awhile. I hope you can get on some aggressive wipers sometime. It's such a blast!
what an amazing time to hit the water!
Every now and then if you are out there enough times you catch it right and the fish practically jump in the boat. This was one of those times!
Looks like a great time!
My best trip in awhile. Thanks!
Man I cant wait to get out and do some white bass fishing this Saturday
Go get em!
The big ones are at the bottom catching everything the small ones miss or stun try a flutter spoon it's a blast
I like to use a swim bait for the subsurface fish but a spoon is a deadly option as well!

Looks so fun. Imma have to head down to Iowa this season. 🤫
This was one of my favorite trips of the year. Probably the most aggressive school of white bass I've been on.
I’ll be in Iowa in the fall. I’m trying to find spots out for a 3 day trip lol.
My man good videos man keep it up i wash a lot of your stuff . May I ask what park is that call if you don't mind appreciate that
Thanks for watching! Most of the videos I film are in Iowa. Many of the bigger lakes here are stocked with white bass and wipers.
Nice video 👍
Thanks!

@ They do make a 75mm and 60mm plopper. Those might be a better size for the white bass you are chasing.
@@BackroadsAngling Thank you!
U got on a hot bite...what lake in iowa is this.. Nice catches
Yes the bite was on fire. Thank you! I don't share my locations but there are a lot of clues in the video that some will be able to figure out.

Thanks! I will check out your channel.
What time of year
What lake was this
Are you fishing in a barrel all the time?
Sure felt like it on this day. There were a few points when I couldn't avoid catching a fish even if I was trying to keep it away from them.
