    Insignia low oil pressure warning.
    How-to replace Vauxhall Insignia oil pickup gasket, Opal Insignia engine oil sump removal
    DIY how-to for replacing an engine oil pickup gasket that's located in the Vauxhall Insignia engine oil sump.
    The method for replacing the gasket on a manual transmission and an automatic transmission is almost the same.
    All the automatic transmission insignia cars have the pre cutout on the transmission box to remove the two Torx bolts and no need to rotate the flywheel.
    Some manual transmission insignia cars have the pre cutout on the transmission box to remove the two Torx bolts.
    Some manual transmission insignia cars do not have this cutout and you will need to undo the transmission box from the engine or drill two holes in the transmission box to gain access to these two bolts.
    This is not a difficult task and can be done with a standard car toolkit and a few extra tools.
    Extra tools needed
    1. 32mm socket and a breaker bar use to remove the driveshaft big bolt.
    2. A SLIM 150mm Long T40 Magnetic Star Torx Screwdriver Bit, use to remove the 2 T40 Torx bolts, which is located on the transmission side. (this can be found on eBay under "Hakkin 8pcs S2 Steel 150mm T8-T40 Magnetic Extra Long Star Torx Security Screwdriver Bits Set"
    3. Some sort of chisel, use to break the sump from the engine after removing all bolts.
    Parts needed for this job.
    1. Engine oil.
    2. Oil filter
    3. Some transmission oil.
    4. Sump gasket. part number: 55589549
    In this video I started at 11am and finish at 6pm, that's with a lot of tea breaks and taking my jolly slow time.
    Good luck.

    Just finished doing this job last weekend and wanted to say thanks, your video helped massively. Glad it's done but won't ever be doing that again lol. I never had the holes in the gearbox had to drill those myself, took me way longer than you too about 15-20 hours all in a day and a half, but had good weather for it. Thanks again for taking the time to video all this and post it for everyone 👍

    Great video, great tutorial thanks mate. I did mine yesterday which is a Vauxhall zafira tourer C 2l CDTI with the same engine as the insignia. The car runs beautifully now no ‘oil pressure low stop engine’ The only set back was that,I didn’t have the ‘tea and sweets’ but did everything else, I even sang “sumpy sump” when I got to it! Thanks once again I won’t have done it without your help.

    If i had known about this problem with vauxhall insignia 2.0 cdti diesel engines, i would never have bought a 2015 insignia. Great video by the way, you will help a lot of people out with this DIY. I would never have the bottle to attempt it though. Until i heard about this problem with insignias, i loved my car, but now i feel like i am driving around with a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. And i read that Opel Vauxhall know all about this problem, and their way of fixing it is to re-programme the cars computer to not even show a warning on the dash about the oil pressure, because apparently, once you do get this warning, it is already too late to save the engine. And all for the sake of a small rubber seal. Well done again on the video.

    • @mr.doctor.
      @mr.doctor. 5 років тому +1

      I feel that also , but I have heard that there is a solving to this problem with a cheap easy modification to the oil bath cap which seals that oring and keeps it pressed so that wont fell off. I have to do this to my insignia this summer. Cheers!

      My engine blew for this same issue. £17.52 part. Joke i knew about it but so maybe should have attempted this or brought it in the garage. Not sure if anyone local could so this.

    • @drefhill
      @drefhill 7 місяців тому +2

      that comment is full of bullshit.
      Where have you seen Opel just reprogram the computer ? It make no sens to me because we can monitor the oil presure with the OPL monitor app so even if there is no warning we'll still see the low pressure on the App and the app will have it in red.
      When you get the low oil presure warning you still have time to fix it.
      It's not a big problem, it just need to be fixed quick, it's not a reason for not buying a car, unless the car already have the warning because we can't know how long the previous owner has been driving with that warning.

    • @drefhill
      @drefhill 7 місяців тому +1

      @@cmccarthy1886No, your engine blew because you kept driving with the warning and the car telling you to stop the engine. If you had stop the engine has the car told you and fixed the problem the engine would still work.

    • @cmccarthy1886
      @cmccarthy1886 7 місяців тому +1

      @@drefhill incorrect. The engine did not warn me. The bearing goes then the engine warns you but it’s too late. I knew the bearing liable for failing but by the time it goes the engines dead. No stop and fix once it goes. Too late.

    Just spent 14 hours over 2 days in the pouring rain doing our Astra J (2012, 2.0 CDTI 165ps stop/start, 103,000 miles) after it kept complaining when starting during these cold mornings. Really struggled for information on whether it affected the Astra too, but now I know it does, so for anyone else looking about their Astra, Insignia, Zafira etc, if it has the A20DTH engine, it has this issue!
    Our seal had a pretty large chunk missing out of it and was rock hard. Found it when cleaning the sump out. Shocking design flaw by FCA/GM.

    So...finally got round to doing my 2010 2.0CDTi. Took about 6 hours. The seal was rock hard and snapped when I tried to take it out! Completely fixed now. A small problem came to light when I tried to check the oil level. It was stuck. I did not remove the dipstick when I put the sump back on so I had got it jammed up. Had to do the whole thing again. Only took 4 hours second time around. Yeah...who's the dipstick now.

      Steven Giddings. If you have a chisel or a crowbar, stick it between the sump and the gearbox and try to force it off. If you have a rubber mallet or a bit of wood you could also use it to hit the sump at the front and back, that should help to crack it. The sump is stuck on tight but some force and hammering will crack it.
      Good luck.

      Peter Bryan Hi, I’m not sure if the removal of the other parts would be the same as the insignia but the rubber seal would be same. It may seems intimidated at first but trust me it’s not. Do it on a sunny day and start it early as it does takes a bit of time. All the best.

      The bottom one is very tight obviously with all the rust and dirt..
      Did you break the bolt loose first? before putting a spanner on the opposite bolt as they spin without spanner on other bolt..
      All so did you put a lot of force when you had to hammer the thread out?
      From that lower arm as I have removed the bolt and need to hammer it out seems like that's pretty solid to.

    Great video mate been waiting for one like this one question when u moved fly wheel by the crank bolt did that knock timing get off or did u mark it thanks

    • @TayouTroy
      @TayouTroy  5 років тому +1

      Hi, Thanks.
      That’s a good question.
      I’m not sure as I don't know much about the electronics of the timing and sensors.
      The guys on the insignia-drivers.uk forum said I should rotate the pully. Also the Hynes manual states rotate the flywheel.
      I did not undo any of the timing belts so I’m guessing rotating the crank pully would operate similar to the starter motor turning the flywheel, I could be wrong.
      That’s a good point.
      Definitely put a mark on the crank pully position just incase.
      If I should have to do that gasket again I will mark the crank pully position before I rotate it, then when all is finished, rotate the pully back to its original state.
      Also, It's a good idea to disconnect the car's battery.
      I had the car radio on which drained the battery flat and I had to clear some low voltage fault codes with ODB tool.
      Good luck. Regards

      Stephen Lloyd, Hi I’m not a proper mechanic more of a diy.
      If the transmission has the cutout for the 2 hard to reach bolts and you’re in London I’m happy to help you replacing the seal.
      Yep main dealer do charge a lot to replace the seal due to the amount of time it takes.
      You could also try smaller mechanic shops, they’re usually far cheaper.
      Search on gumtree for mechanic shops.

    • @TayouTroy
      @TayouTroy  4 роки тому

      Ravy Preap if your gearbox is manual transmission and has the 2 hole cut out slot. You need to rotate the flywheel slowly by placing a winch on the bottom pulley. Then rotate the engine while looking through the torx cutout for a notch that is on the flywheel. Go to time 13:50 in the video you will see the winch on the pulley to rotate the engine to see the notch in the flywheel.

    the last FIVE services she has had , 4 lots of 5w 30 & 5w 40 have been used 😱 , this is a BIG no no when asking the "Saab forum " on F/Book 😞 , They state they have a problem arising with the ttid as the Logbook states 0 w40 , but the "recommended list " in most garages is 5 w30 , i shit you not , so my question is , A : have i killed my car by putting the correct oil in ?
