Great video. Fyi you would measure the gap between the cams and the shims with it all fitted in place, then remove the cams to measure then shims and spec up/down

about to do my valves and chain too, been looking for similar videos. did you use an endless chain with a rivet link? thanks

I did rivet link it yes. A little fiddley but manageable. You’ll need the tool to break the old chain anyway - not difficult. Make sure you attach something to both sides prevent it falling inside the engine, then attach the new chain and draw it through. You’ll be fine ✌️

@@vinnieharkin7250 thanks for the reply, just one more question. how did you round off the rivet once you put the chain back together?

@@adamflynn7322 Normally when buying a chain breaker it comes with the riveting side too? You just place it over the rivet pin and twist. Check it out on UA-cam

Great vid! I'm halfway through doing mine. Just getting the carbs off was a pig to do. I just bought an FZS600 which needs a new chain after only 26k miles. The tensioner is fully extended so I'm hoping I can fix mine easily enough.

If I can do it… ha! Yeah thanks for saying and just take your time and you’ll get it done. Good luck 👍

@@vinnieharkin7250 cheers fella. Just a quick question... Was it just one of the cheaper chains on ebay or the £80 ones? I've paid £18 for one which I hope will do the job.

@@richardday3862 It was the £80 one. TBH I don’t remember seeing the cheaper one? I’m surprised because that’s normally my style 😉😁

Well done! I've got to do mine, which I'm worried about. Have you got any links to the parts you used please? Also, any tips? Thanks in advanced, Jay

Sorry for the late reply, I’m just seeing this! I didn’t use anything special. A cam chain from eBay and a little grit ha ha. I’m sure you’ve done it by now and moved to bigger and brighter things. Thanks
