I think that with less hours of sleep your brain is a lil tired and that helps a lot with extroversion because introverts tend to overthink a lot of mundane situations, especially those involving socializing and you know it so you avoid them. But when your brain does not have the power to overthink you do not see yourself that awkward and as a result you aren't that awkward.... at least that is the logic i see behind it

In my experience, both ends of introverts and extroverts are extremely socially awkward. The only difference is - extreme introverts are in constant fear that they might screw up a social interaction, so they stay overly reserved or keep over-correcting themselves, leading to social awkwardness, whereas extreme extroverts keep yapping on and on not realizing no one in the room is too invested in their mundane quips, leading to social awkwardness that they aren't aware of until much later.

I used to be an ambivert, I didnt act like it made me better than anyone else, and I didnt act like I was special. Learning about introversion years ago made me happy. My earliest childhood memories of kindergarten was always sneaking off during lunch and hiding in the bathroom and garden to get away from everyone. I kept doing that in primary school and high school. I never hated being around people, nor making friends--but I'd always need a reset after a few days. My high school attendance was 40% because I frequently broke school to stay home, but I was still 2nd in all my classes. And now as an adult I shifted and forced my way into a work-from-home career, because persistent interactions leave me feeling genuinely depressed in a way I struggled with after school. There's a lot of nonsense and pop-hype about introversion as a trendy label, but for me it was just a word that let me know that there was nothing wrong with me--or at the very least, I'm not alone in my personality.

I’m an introvert, and the weird thing with me is I want a lot of friends, but I prefer being by myself and I don’t like having too much social interaction, so I don’t have a lot of friends. Also, my number of friends significantly decreased ever since quarantine started, since I don’t even talk to most of them anymore. For the most part, I don’t care, but I’ve barely had any social interaction with any of them lately, so I really want to talk to those people again. Because even though I do want to be alone most of the time, I do still need to connect with others.
I would put it this way: Social anxiety is a disease. Makes you feel terribly nervous around people. Can be treated. Social skills is your set of abilities and how you behave around people. Can be learned and practiced. Being introverted or extroverted is more of your personality. It is not necessarily a problem.

I'm an introvert. I'm okay meeting new people but I don't like suddenly being in totally unexpected company. When my two friends (sisters) invited me to their place, I was ready to catch up after not meeting for a couple years (due to covid). But when I got there, there were 3 other people I'd never seen before. They were friendly but I still had a very hard time feeling comfortable and opening up, I couldn't really talk about myself and kept quiet most of the time. Next time I saw them it was a bit better, I was already a bit familiar with them and knew they'd be there, but they're still acquaintances, not friends, and I'm still not too comfortable around them when it comes to talking about anything personal.

That can lead to lack of social skills which can then lead to social awkwardness though. But it doesn’t always. There’s plenty of introverts that due to hobbies, jobs, school or whatever parts of life have no problem talking to strangers and having conversations, it just drains them so they don’t prefer it. Extroverts on the other hand spend less time by themselves and are usually not as good at introspection since they like to spend most of their time talking to others instead of thinking of themselves. However there’s plenty of extroverts who due to the same things such as jobs schools hobbies n life , never got to interact with people much and develop social skills which leads to them being shy N socially awkward due to fear of not being accepted

Learning about introversion years ago made me happy. My earliest childhood memories of kindergarten was always sneaking off during lunch and hiding in the bathroom and garden to get away from everyone. I kept doing that in primary school and high school. I never hated being around people, nor making friends--but I'd always need a reset after a few days. My high school attendance was 40% because I frequently broke school to stay home, but I was still 2nd in all my classes. And now as an adult I shifted and forced my way into a work-from-home career, because persistent interactions leave me feeling genuinely depressed in a way I struggled with after school.
There's a lot of nonsense and pop-hype about introversion as a trendy label, but for me it was just a word that let me know that there was nothing wrong with me--or at the very least, I'm not alone in my personality.

I am an introvert and don’t want many friends, because of the fact that I have social anxiety. I can’t talk to people in person unless they have gained my trust.
I’m an introvert, and the weird thing with me is I want a lot of friends, but I prefer being by myself and I don’t like having too much social interaction, so I don’t have a lot of friends. Also, my number of friends significantly decreased ever since quarantine started, since I don’t even talk to most of them anymore. For the most part, I don’t care, but I’ve barely had any social interaction with any of them lately, so I really want to talk to those people again. Because even though I do want to be alone most of the time, I do still need to connect with others.
God blessed me with both(I literally shake when i nervous)
I would put it this way:
Social anxiety is a disease. Makes you feel terribly nervous around people. Can be treated.
Social skills is your set of abilities and how you behave around people. Can be learned and practiced.
Being introverted or extroverted is more of your personality. It is not necessarily a problem.

I'm an introvert. I'm okay meeting new people but I don't like suddenly being in totally unexpected company. When my two friends (sisters) invited me to their place, I was ready to catch up after not meeting for a couple years (due to covid). But when I got there, there were 3 other people I'd never seen before. They were friendly but I still had a very hard time feeling comfortable and opening up, I couldn't really talk about myself and kept quiet most of the time. Next time I saw them it was a bit better, I was already a bit familiar with them and knew they'd be there, but they're still acquaintances, not friends, and I'm still not too comfortable around them when it comes to talking about anything personal.

yeh introversion/extroversion is more about neurochemicals and how the brain is stimulated by the external world (ironically, introverts are overstimulated thus get tired being around others... ppl sometimes misunderstand, thinking extroverts would be the ones stimulated by the external world more coz they like it so much - no, they're not stimulated enough, thus they need more of it lol)

My sister is a bigass extrovert while I'm a bigass introvert. She always told me that I was doing something wrong because I didn't enjoy meeting people as much as she did. I've eventually learned that there's nothing "wrong" with me, that I'm just an introvert and need to recharge my social battery frequently, but I still feel self-conscious when I haven't done "enough" with people in a while. I hope that'll change in the course of my life!

Juqavies P this is what he means by confusing stuff. Bringing introvert doesn’t mean your anxious or socially awkward it just means you like alone time in simple terms. That can lead to lack of social skills which can then lead to social awkwardness though. But it doesn’t always. There’s plenty of introverts that due to hobbies, jobs, school or whatever parts of life have no problem talking to strangers and having conversations, it just drains them so they don’t prefer it. Extroverts on the other hand spend less time by themselves and are usually not as good at introspection since they like to spend most of their time talking to others instead of thinking of themselves. However there’s plenty of extroverts who due to the same things such as jobs schools hobbies n life , never got to interact with people much and develop social skills which leads to them being shy N socially awkward due to fear of not being accepted
