Given the rate of technological progress in motorcycling, it's amazing that the now-old HP4 can compete with Ducati's brand new tour de force. BMW made something special here. My previous ride BMW S1000RR . Now, I own Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 factory. I prefer the Sound of V4, it is amazing, gorgeous...it has no comparsion. Thanks for this good videos, I enjoy them!!
Shame that BMW hasn't got the delivery process figured out yet last Monday they told me mid June to end of June and thats not 100% either what a nightmare...lol For all the lack of power, electronics and ergo's the HP4 has, it's still not bad in today's world. My biggest surprise is the 10lbs difference just shows how far ahead BMW was at that time with the HP4. the 2012-2014 generation of S1K's were not the best for track a bit heavy and turn-ins were a workout to do in chicanes but once all stripped down and race ready it becomes very light and a very good track weapon. I have been using them since 2012 and to be honest I only upgraded from my 2013's in 2017. I didn't feel the need to get the newer ones until they really changed it in the last generation. I still have a street version of the 2013 regular model with loads of upgrades but I use it only for my street stuff and it's got 65,000Kms never broke and still running like new. I will most likely keep it until it dies since I do maybe 5000kms a year on the street now and really don't need anything else it's still faster than 90% of the new bikes and does more than enough on the street. Honestly I think the new S1K will be a much better all around bike than the V4R since it's miles ahead in the road friendly tech much better track bike than before all the stuff you get with the M version for almost 1/2 the R's price. honestly I think the power will be very close since Ducati has a bad habit of putting high numbers on paper and BMW is the opposite I expect the 207hp to be very close to 200 WHP and if your like me and get the M power upgrade the bike will have close to 220 hp. Only bike I think that will beat both Ducati and BMW is Aprilia with the new 1100 factory even if it's got 77cc more in my opinion its not enough of a CC boost to really be the only reason it beat both bikes. I can't wait for you to do the 3 bike shoot out will be one of your best videos this summer for sure. Love the comparison videos its original and nobody else is doing it right now so good job and keep them coming. The V4R is by far the best track bike. Let’s be realistic a 5 year old bike against Ducati’s latest and best is no competition. Now of corse it depends who rides it. And the bike is obviously by far too good for you at this time with your ability. Now don’t take that in a bad way. Refreshingly honest reviews. I guess when you own both you can be. Man I love the sound of a screaming inline 4. Can’t believe the BMW was so close in weight. Amazing.
650ib love your videos. Some things you might want to consider for your street comparison: maintenance costs; insurance costs; mirror usibility; pillion viability; ease of use regarding TC/WC/riding modes etc; gas mileage in city and road trip; comfort zone (i.e. 1/2 hour/3 hours?); turning radius......things people will deal with on a daily/monthly/yearly basis as part of their ownership experience. Cheers.
Another great video and I really appreciate your honesty with regards to why the HP4 is the better bike (based on your skillset). That level of transparency is key for explaining your results, when I'm sure most were expecting you to obviously give the V4R the win. Keep up the great work and content Ib!

I Got to sit on an s1000rr recently....they are so comfortable and sound amazing! Defo going to add one to the stable now that I got the Ducati 😎. Great vid @650ib
Oh my gosh... Love both bikes truly. Neither one can lose this battle. Sure the v4r would run the hp4 with that magnificently high reving engine. But because the hp4 is so comparable at its older age with less tech. Also in my opinion the hp4 looks a tad more my speed.
Gave the thumbs up, but definitely not for the haten of the dry clutch. Freaking LOVE it!!! Another AMAZING bike fella. I WILL meet and ride with you one day!!! 😉 great video.
As a cruiser rider my opinion should be the benchmark against which all others compare...lol jk I love the sound of an inline four and the HP4 is hands down one of the sweetest sounding i4's I've heard. However I absolutely love the sound of a V4 as well, although I think hearing that dry clutch clacking away probably doesn't translate over a video too well so I will reserve my auditory judgement until I hear one in person. Another exceptional video.
The Ducati V4R wins it’s newer technology, looks absolutely stunning, sounds more amazing and its smashing the world super bike races.... PS the dry clutch is growing on me lol
It seems like people just like the v4 sound because it’s different. If v4s were standard amongst sport bikes then everyone would be RAVING over the beautiful sound of inline 4.
Nice vid, ib! They both sound ridiculously good but the BMW has a dark side to it. For me, and I'm a Ducati lover, the BMW sounds better. But hey, a one mile long tunnel in any of those and that will be a hard on guaranteed! #dreambikes💪
I almost bought a HP4 that was about like the one you have... I ended up with a 2015 panigale R. Love it on the track hate it on the road. It's not horrid on the road though just really works best on the track.
In my opinion sound wise it's going to be a very long time before there's another motor cycle that hits the market that even comes close to the V4R. That thing is insane. MotoGP on the streets. Love it.
Hey ib, I just read the guys from the 44teeth say that Ducati does not allow journalists to compare the V4R side by side with rivals on reviews. What are your thoughts on that?
for someone who puts a lot of race parts on race bikes, why haven't we seen your TC of ABS lights flicker on the track? Do you still have chicken lines after a trackday? i'd love to see a video of you dragging knee and having the TC light flashing. Utilize the fancy gizmos the bikes came with.
I think if you had some race rubber on both and pushed harder the duck would shine a little better maybe, never rode either bikes so just a guess but I favor motors with torque, I assume the torque is on tap with that v4, and if you were in cali I would definitely run a track day with you any day that would be awesome. keep up the vids buddy!
Hey 650ib hope the best for ya, Best sound for me is the Duc but I do not know how you do it the beemer is an awesome bike and I agree with you the Duc would be the bike for me I just can't let go of my zx14r, good day Bro
The new BMW S1KRR M just put out 206 at the REAR WHEEL STOCK there's a video on UA-cam. Sorry I didn't provide a link but it's easy enough to find. BMW is going to make sure they stay on top. Best bike for road and track!!! In my opinion of course. You know you make an awesome machine when you don't have to inflate numbers.
Fantastic, both Bikes just kitted out with Impeccable Standards from Motomillion, it's like what jacket will I wear today , H2 ~ V4R ~ BMW ~ 🎲Mmm' ~ Aprilia sounds like Thunder
Hey ib I’m in the process of fixing up my 2013 Hp4 and was wondering where u bought that triple tree cover? The only one I can find had s1000rr written on it. Unless that peels off. Thanks
Another great video, I totally agree with you about all you have said, me being of similar size and riding ability, I too would favour the BMW at this point in time. but I am sure as you become more track oriented in the near future you will exploit the Ducati to the max.
Jeff Watts I highly doubt he’ll exploit any of these bikes to the max? I’d bet diamonds to a penny that he and 99% of people would run out of talent way before any of these two bikes or any modern super sport or super bike would.
You did know that the HP4 came standard with full titanium exhaust? Maybe yours didn't as it's an earlier s/n than mine, mine is 5613 yours is in the 1200s.
Sweet bikes indeed but what’s even more impressive to me is the fact my 15-year-old 05 ZX-10R is 375 pounds dry and only 25-ish horsepower less then the regular BMW model. Besides The electronics and a bump in horsepower there hasn’t been that much of a leap in 15 years as compared from 1990-2005.
If you think that leap wasn't that big you should take a ride on new ZX-10R and I don't want to even mention to try Panigale V4 here because this bike is in another league. I think that You will rewrite your opinion immidiately.
Casey 27 Ducati’s have always been a step up in some respect. I wasn’t referring to the Panigale as I feel it’s in “Ferrari” territory compared to most other bikes and those of Japan. Besides the Ducati is 300cc’s more so there’s another reason it’s not in my point. I’ve ridden the BMW, Aprilia and the new ZX10R. Yes they’re impressive and faster but not much and they’re also heavier and full of intrusive rider aids. If you haven’t ever ridden an air/oil cooled and carbureted GSXR1100 or first gen CBR900rr (which you likely haven’t) you wouldn’t understand my point on the leap from 1990 to 2005 vs 2005-2019...
I’ll always love the sound of the inline 4 they sound amazing like they scream higher even though they are not. The one thing I don’t like about the Ducati is how they have shortened the tail section and it has a aggressive upward angle as well. To short in my opinion making it look as though the swing arm has been extended. I hope other manufacturers don’t follow this. Now the new R1 tail I love the flow through design. I also love the tail on the older R1s nice and fat but not to fat like the old gsxr strad. I couldn’t think of a better time to be alive!!! The best of the best bikes ever. Next generation will be riding electric I’m sure. Previous generation was cool to but we are in the thick of the epitome of superbikes!!! Thank you Jesus!!!
Great video! I do waiting for you next video BMW new 1000rr vs Ducati V4. Because I got choose to get again Kawasaki or get Ducati V4. I need this comparison. Thank's! ✌👍✌
Living the dream 650. ...I am thinking of a used s1000rr as my sport and track bike . Keep the fjr300 for touring. I still think it’s good value .the other choice due to the smaller tracks is a 848 . I am 6 3 tall so the bikes leg room are brutal. In New England track days are 300 to 350.so I budget 2k a yr for those... if I was 500 miles south man I will attend all ur track days for 200. I have over 200k on street, a half dozen track day on 2001 sv650 . Is a s1000rr a big of a jump .? - Intermediate Rider.

Cheers Ib for finally weighing the HP4, always wanted to see how it compared to all the rest. Great video as always👍🏻
Thanks Isaac! Well said.
Thanks for another honest review video 👍🏻
You're welcome and thanks for watching ❤️🎥✔️
The Ducati V4R wins it’s newer technology, looks absolutely stunning, sounds more amazing and its smashing the world super bike races....
PS the dry clutch is growing on me lol
Not a great fan of the sound
It seems like people just like the v4 sound because it’s different. If v4s were standard amongst sport bikes then everyone would be RAVING over the beautiful sound of inline 4.
DUCATI V4R, that look so sick, sound so epic
Love the dry clutch.
He's baccck at a track manny what up ib bringing it hard to the people
I'm hearing most 2020 BMW s1000rr's won't be delivered until October
Nice vid, ib! They both sound ridiculously good but the BMW has a dark side to it. For me, and I'm a Ducati lover, the BMW sounds better. But hey, a one mile long tunnel in any of those and that will be a hard on guaranteed!
#dreambikes💪
Definitely the sound of the BMW HP4
Agreed although that v4 in person shakes the bones
On video, Beamer
In person, Ducati all day every day
I almost bought a HP4 that was about like the one you have... I ended up with a 2015 panigale R. Love it on the track hate it on the road. It's not horrid on the road though just really works best on the track.
I agree
Love the dry clutch - have one my self
In my opinion sound wise it's going to be a very long time before there's another motor cycle that hits the market that even comes close to the V4R. That thing is insane. MotoGP on the streets. Love it.
Great music choice 👍
Hey ib, I just read the guys from the 44teeth say that Ducati does not allow journalists to compare the V4R side by side with rivals on reviews. What are your thoughts on that?
If that's true....it sucks for the journalists but it's GREAT for me!
Great channel! 👍
for someone who puts a lot of race parts on race bikes, why haven't we seen your TC of ABS lights flicker on the track? Do you still have chicken lines after a trackday? i'd love to see a video of you dragging knee and having the TC light flashing. Utilize the fancy gizmos the bikes came with.
I think if you had some race rubber on both and pushed harder the duck would shine a little better maybe, never rode either bikes so just a guess but I favor motors with torque, I assume the torque is on tap with that v4, and if you were in cali I would definitely run a track day with you any day that would be awesome. keep up the vids buddy!
Thank you!
Hey 650ib hope the best for ya, Best sound for me is the Duc but I do not know how you do it the beemer is an awesome bike and I agree with you the Duc would be the bike for me I just can't let go of my zx14r, good day Bro
Thanks Jeff!
650ib thank you bro and still lovin the vids you do great work
This dude is amazing , he does what I WISH ....
I've seen the video. We will put all of the bikes on the dyno.... Back to back and see.
@@650ib Yes sir, keep your videos coming! And your up beat attitude and laugh has me giggling every time.😜👌
Fantastic, both Bikes just kitted out with Impeccable Standards from Motomillion, it's like what jacket will I wear today , H2 ~ V4R ~ BMW ~ 🎲Mmm' ~ Aprilia sounds like Thunder
love from Pakistan.. stay blessed brother
Thanks Shahid! You too ❤️❤️✔️✔️
Hey ib I’m in the process of fixing up my 2013 Hp4 and was wondering where u bought that triple tree cover? The only one I can find had s1000rr written on it. Unless that peels off. Thanks
Hey Andrew.... I purchased it from Mani at Motomillion. Please contact him and use my discount code 650ib www.motomillion.com
650ib sweet definitely will, already bought a few things from him. Thanks again
Ib do you have any black merch hats that I could purchase I see your T-shirts but I like that hat you wear and some of your videos.
where is your great buddy donny brasco? miss his smackdowns
He's NOT my good buddy anymore. He turned out being the worst person I've ever encountered in my life. You'll never 👀 him again on my channel.
Liked the classic sound of the HP4 better but the V4 sounds good too I hear the dry clutch a lot,I'm not a big fan of that...
Can’t wait till you get the new s1000rr!!!
"15:07" Can't fake that joy :)
Good video and comparison.
Thanks man!
Beautiful bike 😊👍
Thank's! ✌👍✌
when are you planning the dyno tune on the V4R ?
awesome comparison.
H-P-4 ANY DAY!
V4R has a mean sound but there's nothing like a Brocks exhaust. From the Alien head2 to the sidewinder/Tiwinder all great sound
I love that V4R!
Love the dry clutch!
That's cool you liked the HP4 for the track
Nice point of explanation and truth
enjoyed the video!
I was backing to underdog HP4. 650ib if you had to choose between your HP4 and MT10 as your only bike which would it be ?
Living the dream 650. ...I am thinking of a used s1000rr as my sport and track bike . Keep the fjr300 for touring. I still think it’s good value .the other choice due to the smaller tracks is a 848 . I am 6 3 tall so the bikes leg room are brutal. In New England track days are 300 to 350.so I budget 2k a yr for those... if I was 500 miles south man I will attend all ur track days for 200.
I have over 200k on street, a half dozen track day on 2001 sv650 . Is a s1000rr a big of a jump .? - Intermediate Rider.
Damn dude, track all too yourself! That's how I like it at Inde here in az!
It was tons of fun Chris!
How much time, or how many laps, do you get for the $200?
Very high quality!
Order the GoPro windslayer from eBay it kills the wind noise super quiet mane🙌🏽
Will do, thanks
