Great video! I've made 3 so far. Two additional things I did for this: I kept catching the elastic in the wrong layer on the first one I did. To avoid this I cut a very tiny strip of iron on tape and sort of sealed the edges of the bodice to the casing before I fed the elastic through. Definitely helped with finding the right layer. The second thing I did, only because I personally am terrible with arm holes was after pinning, I took a few extra minutes to baste the edge down, removed the pins and pressed before machine sewing. Made it easier to manipulate on the sewing machine. I will definitely be making more of these. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you so much - I’m so glad you’ve been making this top! This is one of my most warn tops I’ve made so it’s so great to hear you’ve made several yourself! 😃 And thank you very much for leaving your tips!!! I luckily didn’t have that problem with the casing when I made this top so I didn’t even think of including any tips for the layers of casing in this video (I guess I was lucky I got it the first time!) and then when I made a dress version of this same style for another tutorial I did have that problem and mentioned having to feed it through a couple times to find the right path... so you have a great idea of sealing the edges like that first and saving the frustration of figuring out the right layer! Perhaps even a few stitches right along the edges to secure the two pieces together would help in the same way - I’m really glad you commented with that solution - when I make another I’ll definitely be trying that! And also for the tips on the arm holes! I also didn’t have any issues with the armholes on this top (my fabric seemed to be a lot more agreeable lol!) but then had a little more trouble with them with the dress I made so one thing I mentioned might help with that is to use bias tape around the curves instead of double folding if that was a big issue so I’m so glad you’ve found some other great ways to help with those issues and I so appreciate you sharing them!! I’m gonna pin your comment to the top of the comment section so other people can read your tips so if they have the same trouble they’ll know what to do! 😃
Aw, thank you so much!!! :) That's so sweet of you to say and really means a lot to me! Thanks so much for checking it out and I'm really happy you enjoy it! Happy sewing :)
Hello Monica such easy and clear instruction to follow and the finished top looks lovely my niece will enjoy making this off the shoulder top so thank you again
You're so welcome, I'm glad you liked it! I am in love with off the shoulder tops/dresses too, I've made several on my channel... now can spring come a little quicker!? Haha thanks so much for watching! :)
Aw that’s so awesome to hear!! 😃 Thank you so much for following the tutorial! Your daughter is lucky to have you make things for her! God bless you too 😃
Aw thank you, I appreciate that ☺️ It’s always so nice to hear that a tutorial is helpful!! Good luck with your assignment - you’ll have to let me know how it turned out! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Oh awesome!!! That’s wonderful to hear, thanks for letting me know 😃 This is one of my most warn tops lately so I hope you get just as much use out of yours! Thanks for watching!!!
I’m so glad you liked the tutorial and found it clear to watch! 😄 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch it and for subscribing to my channel - welcome!!! I hope you’ll enjoy my future videos! Have a great day 😃
That is so awesome to hear you've liked the tutorial!!! Thank you so much for watching and following it :) It means so much to know it's been helpful! Happy sewing :)
I hope you enjoy making it!! I made another one recently in a bright floral print and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of both of them so I really hope you get a lot of use out of yours too! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my tutorial and happy sewing! 😄
i love your tutorial!! i was having trouble really on how will i be able to create a perfect measurement for the armpit and never thought of what you have in the video lol to just take out your old cami top as basis. thank you a lot! cant wait to make one for me and my daughter!
I'm so glad the tutorial was helpful for you!!! In practically all my tutorials I use my old clothes as a guide and fold them up to create new styles... it's so much easier for me than patterns and I'm glad to hear it was easier for you too! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment :) Happy sewing!
Very good instructions. I did a french seam for a more polished look under the garment. Also. I think 10 inches is a bit long for the ruffle for me. I can't raise my arms much. Next time, I will shorten it a couple of inches. Otherwise, well done.
Aw thanks, I’m so glad you liked the tutorial!! Haha yes this is the style of shirt you can have several different prints and colors of... perfect for spring and summer! I think I’m gonna make another for this spring because I wore mine all the time last year! 😃 Thank you so much for watching and happy sewing!
Thank you!!! I'm glad you liked it! 😃 Thanks for watching! I got this fabric from JoAnn Fabric a few months ago as a remnant and thought I saved the paper with the name/info about it, but I can't find it anywhere and I also can't find it on the website either ☹️ I'm really sorry! If I see it on the shelf next time I go to the store in person I'll be sure to see what it was called. It's a pretty lightweight woven fabric so I think getting something nice and light will have a similar effect. I am starting to record in a database any new fabrics I buy so I at least won't have that problem for the new fabrics... unfortunately I have a lot in my stash from previous years, but going forward I am doing that! I'm sorry I'm not more help!!!
Thank you! I suppose technically you could pull the elastic up on the shoulders but since it’s cut straight across to be warn off the shoulder it may not lay as nicely that way when you wear it.

If I'm using a light stretch fabric and I want it a bit fitted how do I cut it form the tank top template
Super super cute!! What kind of fabric was that? What was it made of? Flows so nice!! So going to make one of these tips!!
Thank you!!! I'm glad you liked it! 😃 Thanks for watching! Thank you! I don't speak Spanish but I used a translator. I'm so glad you like the videos! Thank you for watching my channel!!!
Did you know an easy way to keep the "straps" down around your biceps is pin the sides of the elastic together under your arm.
Oh wow I would've never thought of that! Great tip, thanks for sharing with us all 😃

I like this video! Can this top be worn not off the shoulder?
Thank you! I suppose technically you could pull the elastic up on the shoulders but since it’s cut straight across to be warn off the shoulder it may not lay as nicely that way when you wear it.
♥️
