What a great study Dr. Brown, concerning the coming of our Messiah by delving into the prophecies of Isaiah, and finding their fulfillment in Matthew 1:1-23. Blessings to you Dr. Brown, and Chosen People Ministries.❤
Shalom Dr.Brown ! Praise Yeshua Jesus Messiah's name .He is coming hallelujah
Wonderful study of this verse in Isaiah. I’ve never heard such profound logical explanation before.
Does Michael Brown take into consideration the Septuagint and the fact that it is “virgin” and not young women. The Masoretic is translated as “young woman”. Septuagint was translated prior to the MT
I'm sorry, but this really doesn't answer any of the objections Jews have concerning the virgin birth properly. How can you believe Jesus is the Messiah if he isn't of the seed of David. Neither Paul nor John for example believed in a virgin birth. John's gospel makes it clear that the father of Jesus was Jospeh (Joh 1:45) and Paul sees Jesus as being of the House of David (Rom 1:3, 2 Tim 2:8). Also in the book of the Acts do we see that Jesus is of the Seed of David (App 13:22-23). We also have the genealogy Josephs in Matthews and Lukes gospels listed, which although contradictory as they don't match, indicate that Joseph's lineage was important to prove that Jesus is of the House of David. Matthews wording at the end of the lineage has always been controversial as there are many variants of it and one of the oldest Coptic manuscripts, the Syriac Sinaiticus, even has Joseph as the real father of Jesus and also a different wording at the baptism scene where instead of saying "This is my son in whom I'm well pleased" it says "This is my son, today I have begotten you/him". If we cross check this with the letter to the Hebrews, we find exactly the same wording as the Syriac version: "For to which of the angels did God ever say, 'You are my Son, today I have begotten you'? ". Clearly in history someone did tamper with the original documents and make them conform with the Roman Catholic doctrines of the virgin birth and the trinity. Of course God could have done a miracle of a virgin birth, this is not the problem, the problem is that if Jesus was a virgin birth he couldn't have been the messiah as foretold by the Hebrew Scriptures. It's as simple as that.
As you said, Jesus certainly was from the “seed” or line of David. The New Testament records that both Mary, Jesus’ mother, and his adoptive father, Joseph, were from the lines of David. The virgin birth was necessary for Jesus to be both God and man, an essential doctrine of the faith which you deny, and one prophesied by the Jewish Scriptures.
Every book of the New Testament, including ones written by John and Paul, affirm this doctrine of the deity of Jesus.
We see early in the Tanakh prophecies concerning the Messiah’s deity. Isaiah 9:6 says the child to be born would be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 7:14 says the son to be born of the virgin would be called “Immanuel,” which means God with us. Daniel 7 describes the prophecy of the Son of Man being given glory and being served by the people in his kingdom: “And behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed” (Daniel 7:13-14).
Yeshua applied this prophecy to himself when the Pharisees asked him about his identity. He said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven” (Mark 14:60-63). This claim infuriated the Pharisees, and they charged him with blasphemy because they understood that he “made himself equal with God” (John 5:18). The Jewish leaders told Jesus, “We are not stoning you for a good work, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.” (John 10:33).
The Tanakh and Yeshua made clear that only God is to be worshiped and served. Yeshua said, “Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only” (Luke 4:8). Yet the New Testament clearly shows Yeshua accepting worship during his ministry. For example, the apostle John wrote that the blind man that Yeshua healed “worshiped him” (John 8:38). Likewise, Hebrews 1 makes clear the Son is to be worshiped. “Let all the angels of God worship Him” (Heb. 1:6). “To the Son, He [the Father], says, ‘Your throne, O GOD, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom” (v. 8). Here the Father calls His Son God and says He is to be worshipped.
So we see that Yeshua accepted worship-something that only God can do. And we also see Yeshua forgiving sins in the New Testament (Mark 2:5-11), something else only God can do. That is why the Pharisees said, “He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?” (v. 7). The only one who can forgive another person is the one who was sinned against. By Yeshua claiming to forgive others’ sins, He is doing something that only God can do and showing that He is the one they sinned against!
Yeshua-the second person of the Trinity-chose to die in our place and forgive us. That is why Acts 20:28 says, “Shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood," and 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 says, “God was in Messiah reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them.”
Other verses to consider include:
• John 17:5- “And now, O Father, glorify Me together with yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”
• Romans 9:5- “According to the flesh, Messiah came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.”
• John 1:1,14- “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with god, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
• Colossians 1:15-17- “He is the image of the invisible God. . . . For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. . . And in Him all things consist.”
• 1 John 5:20- “The Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Yeshua Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”
• Also, “Alpha and Omega” is a title for Almighty God (Rev. 1:8; 21:5-7). Yet we see later in Revelation the speaker who calls Himself “Alpha and Omega,” “the beginning and the end,” “the first and the last,” and the one who is coming quickly with His reward (Revelation 22:12-13) identifies Himself as Yeshua in 22:16.
The triunity of God is described in both Old and New Testaments. For example, in Isaiah 48:12-16, we see all three members of the Trinity in the same passage:
“Listen to Me, Jacob, Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last. Assuredly My hand founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens, when I call to them, they stand together. . . . From the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.”
It is clear the speaker in this passage is God, since He says He is the creator of the world and the first and the last. But then He says “the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.” Here there are clearly three members of the one Godhead mentioned.
Supposedly Maher Shalal Hash Baz was seen as the son of Ahaz and Abi, a bride of Ahaz. I have also heard Jews say that Emmanuel is in reference to King Hezekiah, son of Ahaz. If Isaiah 8.18 says Me and My Children, speaking of Isaiah, are signs and portents to Israel, how can these children be sons of Ahaz? Neither Jews or Christians can give a straight answer about these statements which is very discouraging.
I can explain 'Emmanuel' in truth' Leonardo da Vinci was given a true revelation of the second coming of the Messiah of Judah when he was called Emmanuel (Matt. 1:22, 23). At midnight on Friday June 3rd 1971 a Jewish descendant of the High Priest from Phinehas gave birth in fulfilment of Isaiah 8:8; 54:1 to end, and Isaiah 66:7-9. That woman was told these prophesies were to be fulfilled when visited by whom she believes was the First birth mother of Yahusha in the first coming to save the people from their sins Matt. 1:21.
Luke 1:45 is that first birth mother saying 'Happy too is she who believed (will believe) because there WILL BE a complete performance of those things spoken to her from Yahuah. I remember the name I was told being Yahuv'veh Nissi Yireh and was told it refers to the army of Yahuah coming to defeat the evil in control over earth. and I was told to make this known but just as in the past they, the religious preachers will not listen to true prophesy they have their own ideologies.
ps forgot to refer to Revelation 12:5 as the fulfilment of that prophesy all related. for that name 'Yahveh, Nissi Yireh it should be written Geneses 22:14 in reference to Yahusha and Exodus 17:15, 16 in reference to the Battle of the Great Day of God the Almighty.
I HAVE TOLD WHO IMMANUEL IS! I HAVE TOLD DR BROWN PREVIOUS TO TODAY WHO IMMANUEL IS. CAN I TALK TO HIM AGAIN IN THE NAME OF YAHUV'VEH NISSI YIREH?
I think you need a real Bible first, not a Sacred Name cult one.
