Alex English (47pts/12rebs/6asts) vs. Pistons (1983)

- Let me put this ridiculous statline in perspective. Since 1985-86 only four players have recorded a 47/12/6 game, them being Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, David Robinson and LeBron James. Moreover, the full boxscore isn't available to us so it might be that English had more than six assists (I don't have the full version of the game). It's a shame he didn't get rewarded with the block on Laimbeer at the end of the game as it ended up costing Denver the win, it for sure looked like a clean play. However, the play I loved the most was at 1:29 when he made an ingenious rebound/tip pass to Richard Anderson for the open jumper. That's beautiful basketball. December 13, 1983.
Ridiculous wingspan. What a great player Alex was. Pretty good all-around game and just an amazing scorer, with that jumpshot, those runners and leaners, such a sick close range game. One of the most underrated ballers ever.
Alex English is forgotten all too often. Great player, fun to watch, and played at a high level successfully during the most competitive era of the league.
how was he not top 75 and Harden was?
Born on 1983, so I haven’t really seen him play. But when the legends praise him as one of the best to ever play, it’s important to know his greatness. Sad that he wasn’t named to Top 75 player like he wasn’t during the Top 50. Most deserving player of a mention. Alex English is one of the greats.
The legendary 186-184 game, the highest scoring game in NBA history.
One of the best mid range shooters in NBA history.
5:02 “Oh Jesus!” 😂
Bill Laimbeer ladies and gentlemen
When most players had a mid-range game.
Dude alex english was a bad man. His shot was dam near perfect. He wouls crush on todays game. You cant block that shot from where his release is. Also look at the difference in the way the ball was dribbled back than. The guys today are great not saying theyre not. But their dribble would be called a carry every time they brought the ball down the court. Oh and hes amazing grace. My 80s kids will know what im talking about. Watch the post up move at 5:00. Coming off of screens hes right on the screen defender has no chamce. RLTW 3/75
Nba 75 was wrong
look at how beautiful the team game was back then
bruh i genuinely think english would be like kd today, bit smaller in height but same build
A very light 40 ball. He was just a. Bucket. getters
Alex had great movement without the ball. Always trying to get open!!! Beautiful to watch!!!
makes it look too easy whilst being crafty..bonafide walking bucket
this is the best nba game ever 186-184
Maybe not the best, but definitely the most highest scoring game.
@@AB3L30NE for me the best😃
When we watch hi-power offense, however, we can expect more field goals attempted, more rebounds grabbed, and more assists turned completed, so the games like Nuggets's should be seen with a bit of caution. For example, I love Skiles and his 30 assists, but one should remember that was done against the injury-plagued Nuggets team. Outputs tend to be higher for and against teams like Nuggets of the '80s and the early '90s.
This is true but most people will deny this or don't understand it. Similarly the 2016 kings put up great numbers but play no defense and are virtually un coachable .
It's funny because the Nuggets were considered a gimmicky bad team in the 90's because they played no defense and ran a high tempo offense...
Alex English plays like he went to UNC. I mean he moves the ball or shoots quickly, no stoppage
Proto durant
