Trailer for Heartburn (1986) Director: Mike Nichols Cast: Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Jeff Daniels, Maureen Stapleton, Stockard Channing Visit www.jack-nichol... for more info
Meryl Streep dated John Cazale and took care of him the last few months of his life when he died of cancer in 1978..... She has a heart of gold and is very loyal and selfless....... She's gorgeous inside and out I wish her all the best
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A really good film with two terrific performances. Overlooked at the box office and when you watch it, you'll wonder why. Based loosely on the true story of Nora Ephron and Carl Bernstein. Nicholson and Streep at their best ! In case you didn't notice, the little girl playing her daughter is REALLY HER DAUGHTER actress Mamie Gummer AND a very young Kevin Spacey playing the stalking robber that follows her to her therapy session. A rare look at Catherine O'Hara before "Home Alone" and "Beetlejuice". Just a really good film with Carly Simon's great theme song !
Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep are brillant...... Jack is such a handsome guy and Meryl is gorgeous inside and out...... They are magical together and two of the best actors of all time.....
I didn't know that this film was based on a novel written by Nora Ephron and it's her life story. Now I realize why the film's so realistic. All the performances were brilliant. Jack & Meryl have always delivered, so that's a given. It's a beautiful film - one of those that you wish to have seen when it came out, but I wasn't even born then. Hah! *25 June 2024*
You know what I liked about this movie? Meryl Streep's performance. She was totally sympathetic and believable throughout. And, it was hard to watch at times because she made all of her scenes so painful and real. Nicholson was also good as the cheating husband, but somehow his storyline wasn't as compelling as hers. There were some cartoonish things peppered through the screenplay that sort of cheapened the experience (Catherine O'Hara's character belonged in a sitcom, for instance) but for the most part, I remained with the movie up until the end, and due largely to Streep. A shame she wasn't even nominated for this back in '87.
I remember watching this movie when I was ten years old and understanding it. B\c well my parents were going thru their issues. And now here I am an adult and coming full circle with my own marital probe. If y'all. Want a glimpse into my life tale a gander at my vids I've uploaded. God Bless ppl.
Carl Bernstein forced Nora to edit out a ton of scenes in the book that made his lover MARGARET Jay look bad. He also wanted his character Mark to appear to be a good dad. And he had all of this integrated in their divorce settlement. What a scmuck
Carl Bernstein also forced Nora Ephron not to hire Dustin Hoffman to play the thinly-veiled version of himself. He threatened Ephron with legal action if she did not make enough changes to the story line. Apparently, the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Washington Post” journalist thought that, with enough red herrings, movie-goers would never guess the film was about their marriage …
This movie is worth watching. But Meryl and Jack both have far better movies. Something gotta give, as good as it gets and it's complicated in that order. Batman is in its own class for Jack. And meryle did a good job in it's complicated maybe my favorite of hers, but I'm not a huge fan so I don't have her body of work memorized. Also the movie where she was in the raft, was it called white squall I can't remember.
Sorry fans, but "Heartburn" is a bad movie, because it was a bad book. A first person narration, filled with wisecracks. Shallow ones, but wisecracks nonetheless. The movie left them out, leaving only the shallow story.
Meryl Streep did a good job though. Overall sad movie. But definitely some cheesy campy parts and feels pretty dated. Are to say it's a classic at all but decent and I've seen much worse.
@@TheRightToFilmPolice Yes. And Meryl did do a good job. I forgot to mention, I prefer the movie over the book. Not by much, but I do. Those who loved the book, hated the movie. At a level I had not seen since "The Shinning" came out. lol I do actually enjoy Nora Ephron penned or directed movies. Including "My Blue Heaven," "This Is My Life," and "Michael." So obviously, I'm not hard to please. What bothered me about the book is, it's suppose to be about Nora's marriage to Carl Bernstein. It's not. Carl does not appear in any of its pages. She doesn't lay a hand on him, and lets him off completely. With the movie I was forewarned. And I like Jack Nicholson too. Who did not really appear in "Heartburn" either, but at least he did not remind me of Carl Bernstein even once.
I was really interested in this movie. It looks like a romantic comedy in the trailer, but then I read this comment & decided to look up the plot and ending. Holy shit I'm glad I didn't watch it. LOL, I hate this comment though. Some people can't be monogamous. He's an asshole for lying though. But what does an imaginary friend/deity have to do with finding someone trustworthy in this crazy life? You sound like a Christian Mingle .com commercial selling an idea to the lonely for profit.

Especially because she was having an affair with Jack Nicholson on the set :D
Jack was good at cheating in real life too. Apparently he cheated on Anjelica Huston.
Only Meryl Streep could be billed above Jack Nicholson and no one would mind or notice. You go, woman!
You apparently noticed.
I think Shirley MacLaine had top billing over Jack in "Terms of Endearment"😎
My favorite movie of all time!!
Jack Nicholson is 49 here, how handsome for a 49 year old
I love this movie and the song.Anybody can tell me the name of this song?
This movie must be an example for many women.
per Rotten Tomatoes: critics 45% audiences 47% approval
and RIP Nora Ephron

Damn, this looks so good😍✨
It is a good classic. It’s like an old style version of a Nancy Meyers romcom like Something’s Gotta Give or It’s complicated
It is
It is
Divorce is still happing this movie is more up to date then it was also in the 1980s the divorce rate was high love peace
Jack Nicholson's wardrobe and hair screamed tastefully stylish 80s in this good movie. 🎬 I also love the theme song by Carly Simon.
Um dos meus favoritos!! Maravilhoso

@savagecat1984 i'm not alone...thank you
Can someone tell me what is the music in 2:20 ? Please!
Susie Devereaux I know I’m 8 years too late and you’ve probably found the answer by now, but the song is Coming Around Again by Carly Simon
@@rosalyngummer6587 Thank you ☺️ very helpful even 5 years later 😁
@@voyance4elle I just watched this on Hulu, thought I'd have you come back to the comment section for fun .
Remember when they sed to make movies for adults?
I remember really crying. It was so sad.
I know. They are completely misleading, tonally opposite, or they just spell out the entire movie. Always one of the three.

Bro they spoiled the WHOLE movie in this trailer

StacyOnt and mine.

those movie trailers from the 80s really are god-awful lol
joystixxify but still better than watching a whole movie made in this day and age. Film industry is dead!
joystixxify You are!

No atheist in a foxhole. Besides, women think with their pussies not their heads.
and this is what happens when you don't seek out God to help you find your soul mate...
I’ve watched it several times 🤍
