@Haaraskaba in this jujutsu, breathing/kokyu techniques is used in part, easier to understand as timing of contraction & expansion, but the main thing here is stepping in/irimi techniques even if he's demonstrating ikkajo or nage waza. just understand irimi & tenkan & you're set. most jujutsu master try to complicate things because they just want your money. cheers!

@Haaraskaba You're welcome. I think it matters in most martial arts, but i know it defianetly matters in the japanese martial arts. Kokyu itself means breathing, and this word is present, in aikido for intance, in the title of actual techniques: kokyu ho, kokyu nage etc. The fact that it is actually a 'breathing' technique by title is in itself proof that the art requires breathing especially for those techniques. ;)

@dirosaga Ok, thank you very much! This is a theory I have also thought about, but sometimes other martial artists claim that breath doesn't matter that much. I, however, strongly disagree. I think breathing is extremely essential in channeling the energy and matching it with the energy of the opponent.

On a par 3 I address swung hit and came short of the green, I teed up again addressed breathing in on the back swing and out on the down swing and follow through. The ball carried through the green, that is Kokyu ho in applied technique., a distance of fifty foot was gained.🥋🏌️‍♂️

@Haaraskaba i think you are supposed to match his kokyu or breath. as he exhales and strikes, you exhale simultaneously, mathcing his, as you do the technique. i think

This is a very good and interesting video, but there's one thing I don't understand. Did he mean, when our opponent is breathing in, we must breath out or also in?

I suppose that Samurai using such techniques as this and many others isn't considered real combat. All the hundreds of years of using this against a razor sharp sword means nothing. I wish I knew as much about everything in the world as you do.....
In modern fighting the principals are still the same you just modify it for the situation. But thanks for your useless comment and lack of information.

We do, do we? And we know what this so-called 'real combat' is? Pity UA-cam doesn't automatically block so-called experts from replying. Now I will have to block you manually, like I would do in real combat :-)
