toph was done extremely dirty in this... her feat of holding up the library is the biggest none avatar feat in the series and surpasses bumi taking back omashu. when you ACTUALLY take into account everything we see and hear as well as context, she is easily grandmaster. she should be above anyone who isn't a fully realised avatar or blood bender
@Márton Puskás an airbender who does their best to stay off the ground has a decent advantage but that doesnt mean they will win... Aang landed 1 hit in a controlled environment that did nothing but knock her down. Not really a massive blowout or anything.
Like in the fight at the end of the blind bandit episode toph raises a bunch of dust into the air, blinding her oppoents and because she can sense all earth even when not touching it she would be able to feel when the dust is dispersed by movement and could track them that way.
Buumi being a grand master but not toph doesn’t sit right with me at all, they’ve been stated as equals multiple times WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG
@Márton Puskás in the comics toph was able to land a blow on aang while he was in the air. It may be a little tricky but i don't think we should discount her that easily
And to add to that she's able to sense vibrations without her feet touching the ground. Shown in TLOK she is laying down, feet propped up, while Korra is tapping her foot on the ground and annoying her. Still not touching the ground she bends to force Korra's foot to stop tapping. It's just the one scene and could easy be chopped up to a better earring ability to pinpoint her foot but watching the ep. you can make your own assumption. Another time in ATLA she boosts herself and a few others into the air to land on Appa's back, who's obviously midair.
And one more thing, she's able to sand bend as well shown in the beach ep. in ATLA which hasn't been shown since as far as I know.

@@Soot_38 they focus so much on her feet but thats because where she touches the ground 99.99% of the time. But she sense any earth even if its in the air and its just her skin that she can feel the vibrations through.

Amon's rhetoric is less specifically communist and more Populist in general. It's very unconcerned with class and labour conditions and instead categorizes the "masses who should rise up" by what effectively amounts to a genetic factor that's mildly affected by personality and cultural upbringing. In fact, I'd say of the two, Amon's rhetoric is closer to Fascism.
Unaloq's MO meanwhile was a very specific brand of imperialism compared to TLA's and deserves the distinction, being based far more in using "suppressing violence" and "maintaining local stability" as excuses for expansion
Zaheer's concept of Anarchy was, put simply, not what most anarchists actually advocate for. Rather, Anarchists generally prefer a move away from hierarchical to horizontal structures of power through reform or revolution guided by a leading horizontal organization. Needless to say, the idea of creating a system of complete chaos without any governing bodies is either seen as absurd, or a Utopian pipe dream that will come after a centuries long transitory phase of horizontal democratic governance.

I disagree with Toph being as low as she is, even if its not her prime. She's one of the few characters in both series that shows genuine strategy with fighting, something that sets Iroh on an entirely different level compared to most benders. Its also odd that you put Tenzin below Zaheer, when their fight right before he unlocks his flight shows how little he can actually do against a proper airbending master.
Characters like Aang, Iroh, Tenzin, King Bumi and Jeong Jeong have a high understanding of what makes their elements strong. Zuko was arguably less trained than Zhao when they fought, but Zuko got the better of him through Iroh's training of the basics. It speaks to how much higher you can raise your skill ceiling. I would place Toph in the same boat as these types of characters.
And everyone who actually knows shit about the avatar would know Toph is a grandmaster. Yes... she's blind...and probably would lose to lots of benders if they fight 1v1 due to her blindness. But that doesn't mean her bending isn't strong. In terms of pure bending... she's above Kuvira and on level with Bumi
Yeah, saying Toph lost to Aang is like saying Ozai lost to Zuko. Both got shaken by something they couldn't see coming, but when prepared for it, it would be a different story.
Toph literally took on the whole rest of team avatar while laughing it off like it was nothing near the end of book 3 as melon lord. She mastered rock, metal and sand bending. She was able to hold Wan Shi Tong's library before she mastered sand bending...while just grabbing a flimsy tower at the top (meaning she was holding the library together at the same time). She stomped a squad of earth bending masters. She defeated multiple squads of Dai Li with ease.
And that was all just in the original show at the age of 12. Toph was practically avatar strength bending at age 12. She definitely has weaknesses, too, and airbenders would be especially difficult for her to face, but is top of the grandmaster tier or even into the avatar tier based on bending strength and ability.

Zaheer would’ve done a little better, maybe even landed a few hits, but the difference between an air bender master and a talented student was too great
@@Flipitmixit Zaheer v Tenzin isn’t even a fair fight. Tenzin will mop the floor with zaheer any day. Zaheer can fly but that wouldn’t give him a powerful enough edge to win. Zaheer studied books and scrolls Tenzin learned from the best airdender in the whole series.

Yes they are normally about equal, but Vaatu grew in power after he got free.

Although i really didn't have much stake in which one you put first as I block that whole part of the series out of my personal headcannon, lol! I like it when the magic of the show isn't explained. But anyways that's irrelevant of this tier list, great video!

I feel hama may have been underestimated a bit here. I got the impression her general water bending skills were on par with paku, but she has blood bending as well. Katara and hamas ability to blood bend only on full moons shouldn't be understated, especially since after book 1 ever other night seems to be a full moon. I don't know how infrequent full moons are in the avatar world
Water benidng yes but seems over all fragile, compared to the other old people in the show at least like iroh bumi athe sword master jeong jeong etc she looks like she would go down after one solid hit also wouldnt have the dexterity to mounver like paku would

theres alot i disagree with here but one of my biggest beefs was Zaheer over tensin, their fight was not close tensin was constantly pushing Zaheer back and had him on the defensive. even with flight i dont think that advantage is as big vs an airbender as someone of a different element bc tensin is EXTREMELY nimble and mobile
Idk, I think flight is a pretty big advantage. Maybe not against Tenzin specifically, but against other types of benders it's huge. You could argue Tenzin would still beat Zaheer, but I think Zaheer would be a more challenging opponent for other top tier benders to fight.

@@Extroditastic Not really, he clearly used flight massively to his advantage when fighting Korra. Also flight helps even in close quarters as you can quickly change directions in the air. Even in real life, if you suddenly gained the ability to fly, you would probably become a challenge, if not be able to outright beat, some of the best fighters on the planet. You can just fly above them and try to kick them in the head, lol. Flying is a really big advantage that shouldn't be underestimated.
@@weeaboo-warrior true but it was only really because the flight was able to take place in the air because of Korra's ability to fly. + it was also the thing that caused him to lose the fight. (he was in a vulnerable position because of his flight which allowed him to be vaccumed from the sky and then slammed by Korra)
@@weeaboo-warrior the reason I agree with the other commenters here is because how specifically the animators of the show went at great lengths to show Tenzin’s prowess over Zaheer. If you watch the fight, Tenzin quite literally dodges all of Zaheer’s attacks perfectly. In terms of technical mastery, I would argue Tenzin’s airbending is superior to even Aang’s (although Aang wins with the other elements at his disposal). Also, if the poison hadnt incapacitated weakened Avatar-state Korra so soon, she definitely would’ve beat Zaheer. The only reason she took those hits from him in their fight was from the effects of the poison. Otherwise she did have him on the run. I think even with the ability of flight, a true master of Airbending like Tenzin vs a highly skilled, acrobatic combatant who is arguably an airbending amateur (Zaheer) would have Tenzin on top still.
Also I do have to agree that Toph should be higher. Perhaps still below Bumi, but her sheer precision and echolocation makes all the difference.

I really don't see Iroh being modest in a situation where they're talking about him defeating Ozai. Iroh's just more likeable, but people shouldn't use that as an excuse to put him higher. Ozai was stronger

If you mean just pure fire bending, then yea he was stronger. Iroh is much more smarter and he could probably use Ozai's cockiness against him. However, age is in the fire lords favor, so that could help him as well.

Thing is, The ability to redirect lightening closes the gap to the point where base Aang could’ve killed Ozai and Zuko was making Azula look like a rookie until she herself learned to redirect.
That said, I still believe Ozai > Iroh, but Iroh would win in a fight unless Ozai knows not to use lightening. Probably why Iroh wasn’t sure…
I think where the two differ is when Ozai goes at it he doesn't hold back at all. He is uncontrolled raw power. I fully believe in a fight Iroh would kick ass for a few reasons, but I also don't believe he's shown his full power. Even in retaking ba sing sa he used calculated and controlled attacks. Ozai pretty much soley relied on his overwhelming power. In a fight Iroh has him beat, but that is also why I think this method of scaling is kinda bad. Just raw power isn't enough to base who would win in a fight. There are emotional and mental hurdles and paths that can lead to advantage and disadvantage. Ozai may be stronger than Iroh, but even then I'm almost certain Iroh would still win. Same with Azula and Zuko. Azula is way more powerful than Zuko, but when she cracked she was almost beat by him, and if Katara wasn't there for Azula's leverage I'd wager she still would have lost. It's never accurate to base power = win%.

Disagree about the fight between Tenzin and Zaheer being "pretty close" If you look at 1v1 scenes, Zaheer was running and didn't land any hits against Tenzin without interference from other RL members. Tenzin was clearly better offensively and defensively vs Zaheer.
Remember when ozai made two lightning streams at once with more speed than anyone in the show with only a tiny sliver of the sun showing. He is definitely the most powerful fire bender.
also he tanked a direct blast of lightning secods after that so yeah

His craziest endurance feet was probably when he got blasted about a hundred feet into a rock in a couple of seconds after getting hit by an avatar in the avatar state's air blast point blank, and p much shrugged it off.

I don’t consider ozia the strongest because the one time he used bending before the commit he was pretty trash. Iroh is the best because he was powerful enough to hold off zuko, azula, and a bunch of earth benders without the commit and when he had the power from the commit he was extremely strong just like ozia. Also iroh makes the best tea so he wins by default.

Tophs library feat is likely on par with the skyscraper feat.

Bumi is much physically stronger than toph, in shape and bending. Feats wise bumi is the strongest pure earth bender. Tho i think a prime chief of police toph could beat 112 year old bumi. Prime vs prime this is interesting

Toph and bumi are virtually even when it comes to strictly earthbending i would put bumi above her personally but when you add metal bending to the mix she overpowers him
and katara is a monster everyone knows this people alwyas forget she was beating azula in season two in the cavern, i wouldnt put her above azula but she is right there with her
arguably zuko too if you include his swords his swordsman ship alone is acolyte tier add in his master level bending
toph and katara can easily fight on the level of anyone in that tier and even managae to beat some (Bumi, azula, tenzin, kuviera, sparky sparky boom man, )
and if you look in the tier of master where they are in they arent losing to anyone in that tier

17:02 You're wrong. Aang hadn't mastered all 4 elements when he faced Ozai. He mastered Airbending, Probably Waterbending, but did not master Earthbending and was far from mastering Firebending.
Actually Aang was naturally talented in firebending. Earth was his hardest element to master since it's the opposite of his character

According to the lore, when the avatar masters all 4 elements, they will make a grand display bending all 4 elements at once. Aang clearly did this in his fight with ozai

Korra created a whole ass spirit portal using her avatar state. Like Homegirl ripped a PORTAL into a separate DIMENSION. That alone deserves Avatar status imo

A lot of people fail to mention Korra is the only one with a full powered Raava, she's way stronger than a lot make her out to be

I also think Ty Lee should be way higher. I can see her defeating everyone in the Acolyte tier and most in the warrior tier. I believe she could also contend with certain individuals in master tier.
Other than that, from what I can see, this is a pretty accurate power scaling.
Stahp it. Ty Lee gets mopped by everyone in Warrior tier except for Asami (who arguably should be in Acolyte).
@@TripleM24 Ty Lee has better feats than General Fong, Kuviras subordinate, Admiral Zhao and Long Feng. She also beat Katara twice not to mention multiple earth benders during “The Drill”.

Ty lee is one of the strongest characters, she can easily defeat any character just by removing their powers.
idk Ty Lee usually got the surprise on basically everyone she fought, and had Katara been able to move a little bit quicker the fight is completely over at that point. Ty Lee wins by surprising people and every time she enters a fight its with either someone whos not expecting her to be there or someone who doesn't even know what chi blocking is.
Sure she is acrobatic and her speed is good but if someone were to just focus on keeping her away from them the fight wouldn't last long. We even see Suki fight her one on one during the prison break episodes, she doesn't lose and the fight seemed pretty fair, considering Suki is a little bit better than Sokka with his sword anyone who knows how she fights will mop the floor with her.
To beat your opponent you need to know your opponent. No one knew how Ty Lee fought the first time.
Iroh told the gang that it wasn't clear whether or not he could beat Ozai. I would put my money on Ozai. He appeared to be much younger and he was much more lean than Iroh. The flying, mobility, and brutality definitely makes me think Ozai wins that fight.
Probably yes, but if I could imagine their fight, Ozai will likely blast Iroh multiple blazing beam of fire and lightning while Iroh is effortlessly dodging and neutralizing it. Iroh will try to attack JUST TO DISABLE him but Ozai also redirect it. Then after minutes of fighting, Iroh would say, "I had enough, kill me and spare the world"

Iroh knows the TRUE FORM OF FIREBENDING something that ozai doesn't know of. Iroh knows lightning redirection. Iroh uses earth, water and airbending forms even though he can only firebend which is why in a way, iroh is the avatar lol. Jk but he knows all the other bending forms which gives him an edge on form. Iroh also became very buff in season 3. Buff>lean.

I would say Iroh would win. Simply because he said what makes the avatar so strong is that they use all 4 forms of bending. Iroh does the same, he uses all forms of bending with fire bending. Especially after Iroh turned into a buff guy, I would say he would win 5 times out of 10 if not more.
Iroh is extremely fit for his age, knows lightning redirection, learned from the dragons, and I could only see him losing if he surrendered.
For a video with time stamps, based opinions and good cuts, including scenes from the shows, 400 view are just to less. So usually I do no comment but this time I hope to tickle the algorithm a little bit. Great work and greetings from Western Germany

Jong-jong did comet level firebending way back in season one. Personally, I think that alone qualifies him for grand master at least. Everything else I mostly agree with.

Huge cap on Zaheer being so high and Korra being so low. Zaheer got stomped by Tenzin and has only ever fought Korra in extremely weakened states and was on the run the whole time. Base Korra is way stronger than base Aang . Base Aang got stomped against Yakone and Ozai, he is fully reliant on Avatar State. Korra's Avatar State is also stronger since Raava went back to prime when Korra brought her back, symbolized by Raava being TINY AF before, and the size of prime Vaatu after, and we saw previously with Wuan that as Raava got smaller she got weaker.
Whoa whoa WHOA, what do you mean "Aang got stomped"? He could've killed Ozai with the lightning redirection but chose not too, and that was before he went into the Avatar state, and base Korra lost to Unalaq, the weakest blood bender. Also the "size" of Raava doesn't matter, considering it was game over for anyone who fought Aang in the Avatar state, yet Korra in the Avatar State is constantly loosing to benders weaker than Ozai. Not to mention Korra is 16-21 in her series while throughout ATLA Aang is only 12.

Кувира? Во первых,кувира сильнее озая. Во вторых- Она побеждала базовую корру. Корра в состоянии аватара была тотально сильнее,и это видно по блокированию пушки-подвиг,превосходящий все,что было во вселенной аватара,за исключением унаваату.

Prob is that she doesn't know how to use that power. Aang's feats were much more impressive when he was not boosted by harmonic convergence. Normally, I would say that korra lost her last lives,so she doesn't have the knowledge, but I remember that it's her fault she lost them.

They made her a Mary Sue in the beginning by being able to control 3elements at the age of like 4 without anyone showing her, that's just some next level of bad writing. In order to make her show watchable they had to scale up her enemies and she could do jack shit against them in her base form. Even in her avatar state she didn't completely destroy them. Aang could at least hold his own against anyone and when he used the avatar state he was destroying everyone.
Her having issue with air but mastering fire makes no sense at all. First fire is the opposite of water bending, second both the water tribes are far, far more spiritual than the earth kingdom or fire nation and should have given her an edge for air bending.
Korra unlike every other avatar before her didn't do her journey and didn't find her own master & was quite a bad learner. Aang on the other hand made his journey across the world, find his own master and learned from everyone.
The author cornered themselves by making young Korra too powerful and for the reasons stated above I place Aang above her.

The big difference with Korra and ATLA is that there is in Korra less dedication for how rare something is and getting that ability. Things like bloodbending and lightning bending were easier to do/find. Moments like Korra suddenly getting airbending when all is lost or getting easier to spirit worlds, to me those things feel like a necessity in writing but won't give me the feeling how special something is.
I can see that ATLA gave a lot more detail about how rare something is, the harder the work. Korra merely shows the result, showing the power without really acknowledging the struggle and the journey.
So in my conclusion, I take ATLA more serious. I get the Korra wanted to surprise us more with more unique powers, but if almost everyone liked the third season with Zaheer, I should call that a sign that it's more about the immersive belief system and not only about power. Zaheer was really interesting too, he even wanted to talk to Korra in a way not only to convince her but also trying to understand it. His belief system was broken but remarkable and that was nice to see in a villain in a way we can actually understand the villain. This is what makes Avatar so good; the impact through character design to the world and making it so that the elemental power was only a part of it's journey. ATLA did this very thoroughly and very good.

Toph and Katara were adults in their prime they would probably be quite a bit higher, but they just didn’t impress me as much combat wise. Zaheer is one of the few characters who could somewhat fight against the Avatar state.

That is actually something I have thought of. I was going to split it up though, like maybe a tier list for all the super hero or live action verses and one for all the anime verses, and then maybe after that a combined one with all of fiction.

Amon only retreated cause he lost his following (but let's be honest, he doesn't need them). So, the only way he can be truly defeated is by Tarrlok blowing themselves up rip

Great list. Amon is pretty much the most powerful being there is that's not a spirit or an Avatar. Not only is he a Master waterbender, but also a Master in CQC, and can bloodbend rendering anyone who opposes him useless and also take away anyone's bending permanently. Even without his waterbending and bloodbending, he is still head and shoulders above most this list which is insane.
I personally have to disagree on Your comment about “Zaheer and Tenzin’s fight being pretty close”
Zaheer was on the backpedal the entire fight, Not once did he land a solid blow on Tenzin, whereas Zaheer was pretty much avoiding, evading, and trying to stay alive long enough for the rest of the Red Lotus to come to his aid, I do feel like Post-Flight Zaheer would be a lot harder to place, as he could really flee whenever he wanted to/reposition, so yeah, I feel like your assessment on him there is fair
But pre flight 100% Tenzin slapped Zaheer about, Of course, because Tenzin has been an Airbending master for DECADES and really knows his stuff

I don´t wholy agree that Korra is below Aang, yeah, he took out OP Ozai, but also lost against Yakon, while Yakon was focusing on the entire tribunal and after that he was no match for his bloodbending until Avatar State even when he was a Waterbending master himself, while Korra beat Amon (yeah, he may have been weakened from the lightning, he doesn´t show any injury or slowness but I can accept he was injured) while he was solely focussing on her, and without her waterbending nor Avatar State, to me that should be enough to shorten the distance between them and even give her an edge if that.
Not to mention korra is more durable than aang . He may be portrayed as faster, but if korra gets a good hit he’ll probably pass out.

disagree with Azula being a whole tier over Katara. Katara clearly had the upper hand in their fight in the crystal catacombs and Azula was arguably at her best during late season 2. Also Katara was portrayed to be even stronger in book 3. Now granted, Katara did not beat her, but they are more relative to one another than a tier difference.

I would have ranked the series separately. The creators kinda went a little wild with special abilities in kora. I think it's because the technology behind creating the animation got alot better.

The only thing I would change about the list is just removing the military and foot soldier type enemies from the list because they'd have varying power levels from Novice-Warrior. For example, standard military Earthbending foot soldier is going to be much weaker and less skilled than a Dai Lee Agent or like the Terra Team. Or the standard Fire Nation soldiers being much weaker than like Ozai's personal palace guards.
While they do very in strength, they are honestly all fodder tier, just varying degrees. Maybe some of the Dai Li are low acolyte tier, and some of the equalist soldiers seemed acolyte tier too, but for the most part, the fodder characters would get beat by almost anyone in the acolyte tier, let alone the warrior tier.

The last blast, the one that she blocked and redirected, was also directly boosted by all the other spirit vines around it. Im pretty sure the entire point of the Raava/Avatar connection is that together, human and spirit are stronger than either of the two separate ones, so the avatar state will always be the strongest

Korra spiritbending a city-destroying beam makes her stronger than aang in my opinion. The cannon was even being amplified by the whole Forest. Yes Aang was insanely strong and did some crazy shit. But korra stopped a explosion that was more powerful than a nuke without using any crazy spirit energy or harmonic convergence.

my one note would be I don't think Toph and Katara belong a tier below Azula; all three are prodigies and the fact that all three managed to revolutionize their respective bending skills (Katara with month-long bloodbending and teaching herself, Azula with blue fire, and Toph with seismic sense and metalbending) makes them at least grandmasters in my book

He would probably be in top of grand master along with most avatars. He’s an adult and he has complete mastery over all the elements. And the way he stomped Sozin was insane. I believe he was shown lavabending as well. Kyoshi would be top of grandmaster as well.
I like the top and bottom of the list. It gets screwy in the middle between Warrior and most of grandmaster but it works.
Zaheer was getting curbstomped by Tenzin but I actually do agree that his ability to fly was one of the biggest power boosts in the whole series. You can’t really do much against that kind of agility.

I know this might seem biased but I do believe aang would be in spirit level. He is the most connected to the spirit world, meaning his own spirit is the most cleansed. Plus he is the only avatar that can resist bloodblending because in his avatar state he could bend his own blood to resist it.

I just don’t see Toph losing to Bumi with her metal bending and echolocation helping her out when she’s in her prime. Kuvira was given trouble by Su and old Toph is clearly a much bigger powerhouse than her. I think she’s really the best.
I also don’t see Azula as a tier ahead of the three. Zuko kept up head to head against her before she lost her mind and kept Katara busy (who almost stomped Azula) in the caves.

LoK had so many uber powerful villians that each one of them was deserving of many more episodes. But one gripe that I have with the show is the inconsistency of the power levels relative to their abilities. Amon had no business losing to korra and frankly only lost due to plot, Korra being able to resist the bloodbending enough for an air kick despite having no water bending at the time felt a little forced. But then Amon somehow not being damaged despite taking a direct lightning blast for MULTIPLE seconds was a whole lot of plot armor. And by the end, Korra had "mastered the avatar state" and thus had to be nerfed continuously for plot reasons as you can't just keep on power creeping.
Korra beats zaheer even with flight. Good fight? Sure but she would come out on top. Zaheer was not a master air bender, he just unlocked a specific skill. Also, she is crushing aang, ozai, and iroh. The creators said she would beat aang. And she would mess ozai and iroh up. She beat Amon without using the avatar state.
Korra is plague with bad writing. She got her ass handed to her multiple time & in her avatar state was shown to be quite bad. No way she beat Ozai without a plot armor & bad writing.

Nothing's really wrong with the top two tiers, I'd personally place the Colossus lower since I believe that Korra couldn't use the Avatar State at full potential in a city but that's just me and everything else is good. I'd argue Yakone above Amon but again nothing major. I doubt that bloodbenders are as unbeatable as many portray them to be but that becomes a hassle to argue honestly. The middle tiers are where I am having issues.
I find Korra heavily underestimated. In a combat sense, she's better than Aang due to Aang's pacifistic character on top of the fact that he doesn't get the bonus of versatility against her. She can match or surpass him blow-for-blow in firebending, earthbending and warbending, his only major advantage being his airbending, but I don't think that's enough. Azula and Bumi are also being underestimated; Kuvira has absolutely nothing to compare to Bumi's feats in Omashu nor does he have anything to hold against Azula's lightningbending, the same holding true for Tenzin, who I hold above Kuvira too. I'd put Kuvira in between P'li and Combustion Man. I'd have Katara and Toph in this tier too; Combustion Man never got an advantage on them in a fair fight, he always started from a massive distance away with leverage where he could abuse his abilities to the fullest. Both of them have showed top tier feats of raw power, like Katara pushing a massive ship and Toph holding up a massive building, and also are very precise, with metalbending and Katara's ridiculous versatility with her element. They should be a tier above Zuko.
I don't think Mako's specific advantage against Ming Hua warrants him being above her altogether. He should be directly to Iroh II's left. Kya and Tonraq should be moved down at least a full tier, they merely held their own for a little against some impressive opponents and lost, it shouldn't qualify them as similar to a prodigy like Jeong Jeong or a certified master like Pakku. I would also place the two White Lotus masters above Bolin.
Lin and Suyin have been criminally underestimated, Suyin managed to hold her own against Kuvira in one of the few, if not the only fight where Kuvira had an even playing field. They should both be moved at least a tier up. Zhao, on the other hand, is heavily overestimated here, he should be moved down a tier. I'd put Huu, Hama, and Eska/Desna all around the same level at the top of the tier. Huu's vines, Hama's versatility and the twins' teamwork are all advantages they could utilize depending on environment.
The Lieutenant was good but I just don't think he can be compared to people like Ty Lee, Mai, Suki and Piandao who all displayed inhuman skills and speed, which should trump his gear, and I think they'd all surpass Asami too, who is obviously above the Lieutenant.
Even despite typing all that out, I know I haven't made all of my opinions very clear, but my ranking should do the talking for me. Though I should mention there's probably some disconnect on how we see tiers; I can explain anything as necessary on my end as far as how far gaps are between characters, since some characters can be very close while several spaces apart, or notably far apart despite being right next to each other. I also haven't included every character you did while including one or two you didn't, mainly so that it's clear where my specific disagreements are.

Remember, I said Aang for most the series would be in the master tier, that's a tier below Korra. The version of Aang above her is a completely self confident and willing to fight Aang, who is better than even himself a few minutes earlier in the same fight with Ozai. Bumi is only as low as he is because he never actually really fought. Powerwise I agree is his above Kuvira, but he can't metal bend so he would kind of be screwed in a fight with her tbh. Azula is really good, and her lightning could give her wins against some of the people above her, but Kuvira stalemating Korra impresses me a bit more. Katara and Toph only blocked blasts from Combustion man, and they had to run, even though it was 3 benders vs just him. Even with Zuko nobody could stop him.
Mako was able to consistently dodge multi arm Ming Huah in a large body of water, and his lightning is a powerful offensive weapon. I was thinking of putting Ming Huah higher due to him kind of countering her, but he wasn't really being presented as losing and only won due to a fluke. He kind of just outfought her and killed her with his strongest move. Kya and Tonraq could be argued a tier down, but Tonraq did stalemate Zaheer offscreen for a while while P'li was breaking out, and Kya forced Zaheer back, and while she was clearly losing against Ming Huah, she lasted a long time and even got a good hit. I have them far apart on the tier so I thought that was enough, but like I said, they could be argued down a bit. And Jeong Jeong and Pakku are masters, but they haven't really fought anyone of note, and Tonraq and Kya should honestly be "masters" as well. I'm sure Kya was taught by Katara throughout most of her young life, and Tonraq seemed to be the best water bender in the world besides Unalaq and Ming Hua.
Suyin did give Kuvira a bit of a fight, but it was really short and she never really stood a chance. I thought about that as well, and she could honestly be up a tier, but near the bottom near Kya and Tonraq. I did have a room limit on the tiers, and she lasted way shorter against Kuvira than Kya did against Ming-Hua, though I do think Kuvira>Ming-Hua. Lin on the other hand has no impressive feats. Her only real scalable fight was against Su, and was clearly losing. She wasn't at her best, but it's her only real fight against a main character. Zhao consistently gave Zuko a run for his money in book 1, and Zuko was still pretty good back then. I think book 1 Zuko would be warrior tier for sure, and Zhao was definitely the same tier as him then, he would just be lower on it. Eska and Desna are ranked individually. As a team I agree they would be higher. Huu with his vines would be higher, as stated, but he needs time to gather them and there was no more room on the master tier so he was put in warrior tier at the top, which I think is pretty fair.
I think the lieutenant beating Mako and Bolin, who were some of the best pro benders at the time, is more impressive than anything Mai, Ty Lee, or Suki did. Those three might be better at dealing with groups of people, but I think the Lieutenant would be better 1v1 against benders. Piando could very well be higher, he is just where he is because he never fought anyone important.
The one critique you brought up I think is truly valid is the placements of Tonraq, Kya, Su, and Lin, which is something I recognized myself, but was limited partially due to the confines of the tier list and how I wanted to set it up. If I could split things up more I would say it could go something like this
-Kuvira/P'Li/Zaheer with flight
-Unalaq/Ghazan/Ming-Hua/Zaheer without flight
-Tonraq/Kya/Lin/Su
-Eska/Desna/Zhao
But again, Tonraq and Kya had more showings against higher tiered characters so they ended up going up a tier, while Lin and Su were dropped one.

Kya is warrior, and Suyin and Lin are masters, though lesser than Bolin imo.
Zaheer is way too high, sure his flying is pretty overpowered, but Tenzin and Korra (sort of) had him on the run during their fights. Korra could easily take Ozai, and given all the crap she'd gone through, I'd argue she's more powerful and durable than even Aang.
Suyin and Lin are arguably low master tier, but I had limited space on each tier and really the only feat they have that puts them there is Suyin lasting like 15 seconds against Kuvira. Kya isn't any worse than them imo, they should all be close to each other, either low master or high warrior. I think anywhere along those lines is fine for those three characters.
Korra was in avatar state when beating Zaheer so I don't think that should be an anti feat for him. Tenzin kind of counters him since he is an airbending master, and that was before Zaheer got flight. Tenzin might still beat Zaheer since he knows so much about airbending, but I think Zaheer would be a bigger problem for most other benders.

I like this list a lot, it seems much more accurate than most I've seen. Personally I would put Jeong Jeong and Pakku as grandmasters, I think they are far above Zuko and Katara, but I understand why you wouldn't given they don't fight many strong benders. I'd also put Iroh bellow Ozai, and honestly probably bellow the rest of the white lotus benders, but not by a lot. If I made a list I'd put Aang lower, but after watching I think you're probably right to put him at the top.
I'd love to see all the giants fight eachother. I would say the ocean spirit was the strongest tho. Also hama and katara should be in blood bending tier. Especially katara, I believe she blood bent without full moon
Giant blue Korra would be the strongest. It’s confirmed Raava and Vaatu are the strongest spirits, and giant blue Korra beat Vaatu while he was fused with Unalaq.
@@weeaboo-warrior Er…Aang had the ocean spirit, Raava, AND all the connections to the past lives at the time of transformation. It’s not as if Raava didn’t exist before Korra, based on the lore given. It still empowered him in the Avatar state, alongside the ocean spirit, blah blah you get the picture.

I'd argue the ocean spirit would be at least low Avatar level of strength, above blood bender. La & Tui are the ocean and moon spirit respectively, while Tui was the original water bender if either of the two died all water bender lose their ability. In my opinion that push both of them among the stronger if not 3/4 place in the spirit world behind Raava and Vaatu.
TLDR: Aang was in the avatar state thus was using the power of Raava in addition to the power of La the ocean spirit.

The best list I have ever seen no biased bullshit it’s just about feats. All the biased fans crying about toph and katara but from what we have seen they are not any more skilled then ghazan or Ming hua.
Jet was badass, might be my top 3 favorite characters tbh, dude had so much potential… put up a great fight against Zuko and Aang man think about if he actually had military tier training, training from Sokka’s teacher? Brooo… adult Jet like the Rock lee of Avatar.
The reason for Korra resisting Amon's Bloodbending is pure plot armor as the show was supposed to end after S1 and therefore shouldn't be used in a power scaling discussion. Tarrlok confirmed that Amon surpassed Yakone.
Tarrlok just said Amon was the strongest bender he has ever seen and he never saw his dad bloodbend once in his life. His bending was taken before he was born. Korra resisting Amon did seem like plot induced stupidity though. Maybe it’s because Amon was just trying to hold Korra still, while Yakone was trying to kill Aang.
@@weeaboo-warrior Tarrlok said that Amon MASTERED Yakone's psychic bloodbending technique by the age of 14. Since this technique is the strongest which Yakone possesed it means that Amon surpassed him.
Korra and Mako resisting the bloodbending grip is pure plot armor because it makes no sense at all. If Amon surpassed Yakone which was confirmed by Tarrlok this shouldn't have been possible. The writers just had to end this season because Nickelodeon sucks.
@@xops5896 I agree it was implied Amon surpassed Yakone, but you could argue mastering the technique doesn't mean he has more raw power with it, it just means he at least has equal or more skill with it.

Isn't it strange that Aang just happened to sleepwalk (despite never doing this in the past) and SWAM (while sleeping) to an island in the middle of the ocean? (conveniently placed in the direction he was swimming in)
Then just happened to freely gain the ability to energy bend from a REAR lion turtle?
Then while fighting the Fire Lord he just happens to fall against a conveniently placed rock which awoke his avatar state? (by striking the EXACT place that realistically should make Aang's back injury worst)
Then he used energy bending almost perfectly (without prior training) to defeat the Fire Lord?
And even after all that he was perfectly fine after having a rock penetrate through (or at least against) his injury on his back. (that's his spine, how is he okay? especially when that was the place the lightening struck him in the first place)
It would seem like plot armor to me.
Though to be fair he did redirect Ozai's lightening. (And it didn't come out of no where as Zuko taught him how to do it)

The fight btw Zaheer and Tenzin was not close at all imo.

I couldn't agree with more.
Here’s how i would change the list:
1. Sokka would go at the bottom of Acolyte tier.
2. Ty Lee and Mai would go to Warrior tier, right after Zhu Li.
3. Hama would go to Master tier, higher than Prince Iroh(the junior). On par with upcoming masters.
4. Zuko, Katara and Toph would go to Grandmaster tier, before Bumi.
5. Mako would go down a bit and stand before Bolin.
6. Azula would win go up. She would definitely defeat combustionbenders. Im still torn about Kuvira and Tenzin though. Rough fight but Fire Princess can win. All three of them are outstandingly smart fighters, so could go either way. But purely non-bending style, Azula would win, followed by Kuvira.
7. Sorry to say, but Ozai is definitely stronger than Prince Iroh(the senior). Iroh admitted that himself.
8. *forgot* Suki would either be at the bottom of Warrior tier or the top of Acolyte.
9. I feel like we give Zhao and Long Feng too much credit. I feel like both twins would defeat them.
10. Swampbenders are tricky because in most situations they would be at a disadvantage. Id keep them in Warrior tier but lower.

Last three tier is up for debate. Ig Hama and Katara can be in Blood tier during full moon, but that’s it.

1. Sokka is a very formidable fighter and a tactician. Better than an average soldier, who always uses circumstances in his favor. Im not saying he would be top of Acolytes tier, he just deserves to be mentioned there.
2. Ty Lee is probably the most agile character we’ve seen and don’t underestimate chi blocking. Im positive she can restrict Asami’s movements and get better of her. (Also, why are we taking Zhu Li into a consideration? Her “power” depends on a robot suit, which anyone can possess)
Mai’s precise knife blows can knock Asami out too(im using Asami as an example because she’s the weakest in Warrior Tier)
3. Yea, Im sure it’s nothing to draw water out of thin air and master bloodbending. And Katara defeated her because she ALSO gets a powerup during a full moon… and imo, Hama wasn’t giving her all in the first place.
4. Zuko learnt with dragons, knows lighting redirection, bends fire NOT through anger(which apparently wasn’t too common in Fire Nation). He stood his ground against Azula, who is one of the best firebenders of all generations.
Katara is a healer and a fighter. She can self-heal any minor injuries right during the fight. And she gets VERY creative with usage of her bending. Water, ice, blood. She learnt to draw water out of thin air(Like Hama, who also deserves a raise) and she can easily disable/overwhelm multiple of her opponents. Stood ground against Azula, which is stupendously impressive.
And for Toph… how could a blind earth kingdom 13 years old girl would know that in an EARTH KINGDOM tournament she would fight an airbender. Now, she’s way more prepared and aware. Her seismic senses really reached new heights(shown in LOK), YES SHE DISCOVERED(and mastered) metalbending. And she was chief for decades, fighting nastiest criminals for A LONG time.
All of these three deserve to be called grandmasters of their respective elements, not because im positively biased(Zuko isnt even in my top characters list), but because they ARE powerful.
5. So Zuko, Katara and Toph didn’t impress you much but Mako did? Im not even moving him down a tier, just sliding him down a notch, behind Bolin.
6. Defeating a combustionbender ain’t easy. You need to have quick wit AND fast body. But we do know that it is possible to do with a single precise, small but critical blow. Does anyone come around to your mind when you think about a character who does precise and small blows, is unbearable smart and could outrun whole Avatar squad when her bending was fully off? Think, maybe you’ll remember someone.
7. Honestly you’re beating a dead horse with this one. Sure, you love Iroh and think as you like.
8. Maybe Warrior was too much, but she would be at the top of Acolytes tier. A fast and formidable fighter, learned some techniques from Ty Lee(who again… deserves to be in a Warrior Tier). Im sure she can handle that much.
9. So, I cannot promote Hama, because ‘we haven’t seen much about her?’ At least Hama’s fight was an actual 1v1 full fight. What are you basing your opinions on about Long Feng? I get your argument about Zhao(who is still over appreciated, beaten by an edgy Zuko… really?), but Long Feng? what did he do? Get knocked out by Appa?

@@andrewpeters3210 Also, if we're taking shit that was said by characters into the show seriously, then Korra should literally be at the top of this list. Zaheer himself told Korra that her powers were limitless.
Mai could be in a be stronger if she actually could hit people instead of just controlling people and pinning them to walls. Although all characters would be more dangerous if the shows were R-Rated.
Also Bumi (Aangs Son) has sadly only one moment showing him as a competent non-bender and that is against an evil spirit, an enemy no human was able to beat in a fight. Before and after this he is only lucky until he gets Airbending. A lot of missed potential in my opinion.
I love that not a single ordinary avatar was put in the avatar section and the only time they were put in that section was when they were paired with a spirit or utilizing the avatar state (which is essentially the same thing)
