    The Bolt was nice, but really quiet and surprisingly underpowered. I'd ride one, but it wouldnt be my first choice.
    Now, when i rode the 48, i giggled like a child the entire time. very comfortable ride. And i WOULD buy one if i could afford a cruiser. I'm a sport bike guy, but i loved the harley.

    I have a Harley 1200 Roadster, full suspension setup, Screaming Eagle add-ons and had the gas tank upgraded to the 4.8 gallon. Mine dyno'd out to a little bit more, but close enough. I've always been very happy with a Harley in comparison to similar bikes from Honda and Kawasaki. Plenty fast enough, rides and handles very nicely, for short to modestly long trips and really does get close to 50 MPG. I never rode the Bolt - only Yamaha I've ever ridden was a speed bike and I have to admit that was pretty incredible. Fast as hell and held the road incredibly well.

    Both are good bikes but the Yamaha bolt is built to be the 883 Sportsters competition and it out runs and performs the 883 fairly well. All that aside I haven't seen any big bore kits for the bolt where you have more way more options as far as engine mods go for the Harley. I love the look and style of the bolt but I would take the sporty all day long over the bolt

    Harleys have two things that are the reason I ride one (I've had several actually, after buying a used Sportster 1200 I never even considered a Japanese bike again) They vibrate like crazy, and they make a beautiful sound (with the right pipes) NO Japanese bike does those things. So as long as they don't, I will stick with H-D.

    It's also worth noting that the 48 in this video has performance upgrades over stock (stage 1 air and exhaust with possibly tuning) which accounts for about 10-15 more HP and torque over the factory fresh model. This lessens the power gap between these two bikes considerably.

    • @Hammymoto
      @Hammymoto  9 років тому

      +James Battaglia The bike has an aftermarket exhaust system and was tuned with TTS master tune on the dyno. The tuning results showed a 10 HP gain over stock. You're correct.

    I had a stock Sportster 1200 for a few years and yes it was a nice bike. 4 complaints: would need to choke it until I'd already got to work, man was that thing cold blooded, tiny fuel tank considering the bike was not light, and the bike was not light. Took a huge bath on it when I sold it considering the mileage. Harley's cost about $1 per mile just in depreciation.

    Great video. Thoroughly enjoyed all the "observations" about the Harley's shortcomings, as well as it's plus marks. The Yamaha sounds like a fun motorcycle, but it is a frickin CLONE. Yamaha has it's own genuine designs that don't mimic other maker's products. I own two Triumphs (both 21st Century editions), and a slightly used 2012 Harley Sportster which matches the description you gave, but is a slightly different model (XL1200V), with a 21 inch front wheel, and baby ape handlebars. Am already looking into getting a bigger tank so I don't have to fill it up twice a day. Keep up the good work.

    Remember if you're riding motorcycle in Australia the shift pattern is opposite. Up is 1st and all sequential gears are downshifts 😅😅

    Dude, you dont know what vibration is until you ride a solid mount sporty. Ive rode mine well over 100 miles at one time. I dont even notice the vibrations any more.

    My Harley, ignition module quit. I called an independent shop. He already knew what it was. Let it sit bout 20 minutes, it started and I took it to him. $170.
