  • In this video, Luke at Weekend Tour Pros compares the four most popular Premium Soft Golf Balls used on the main professional tours (Titleist Pro v1, TaylorMade TP5, Callaway Chrome Soft and Srixon Z-Star) to see which one is the best for golfers with an average swing speed.
    To complete the test Luke will hit shots with all four balls including:
    1. A 10 yard chip shot with a 60 Degree Wedge
    2. Pitching Wedges
    3. 7 Irons
    4. Driver
    After each section Luke will look at the TrackMan data and talk you through the pros and cons of each ball for that part of the test.
    At the end of the test Luke will also talk you through the durability and price of the Titleist Pro V1, TaylorMade TP5, Callaway Chrome Soft and Srixon Z-Star so you have a rounded view of all four balls.
    Luke will then finish the video by offering some recommendations for average swing speed golfers, including an alternative option too depending on any concerns you might have.
    So what is the best premium soft golf ball for average swing speeds?

    Finally someone that has a swing speed almost exactly the same as mine puts on a great video. Thank you! I am a 12.4 handicap,63 years old(almost) and I personally have played all but the srixon. Also have played the Bridgestone BRXS. Average drive or 230yds. I went back to the chrome soft in the middle of this golf season and it’s staying in the bag. Probably because I like the soft feel and I can hit this ball further and more consistent but again it’s just me. Thanks again for the video.

      Hi Skol! Thanks for watching and for your kind comment! That is exactly why I started the channel!
      It’s really interesting to hear your experiences with the balls - you’ll see from other videos on my channel that I’ve given the Bridgestone a go too recently and I am a former Chrome Soft devotee too so lots of similarities between us! It’s only the price of them today that puts me off them (as in I prefer the Pro V1 if I was paying £48 a dozen). Great to hear you’ve had a good experience with it though too!
      All the best and thanks for giving my channel a watch! 👍🏼

    Great review well thought out and brilliantly executed at human speeds👍. I completely agree that these are the balls to test for those of us preferring a soft feeling ball (and ignoring those who think we should swing at tour speeds before being allowed to play them 🤨). It is very useful indeed, and great that you have chosen those four relevant brackets of test 👌. I personally have enjoyed the soft feel of the Chrome Soft for years, but the low iron spin numbers has me thinking about testing other options next time I need to buy.

      Hi Niels! Thanks for watching the video and your kind comment! I also LOVE the feel of the Chrome Soft and was surprised by the lower iron spin! But the distances were good, so it’s a tough balancing act isn’t it?! I am going to do the X version test soon and I’m keen to see how Chrome Soft X comes out as I still find that ball soft compared to most others! All the best, Luke!

    Good review Luke! I think if you got a bigger sample size, all the distance numbers on these balls would get closer. But the spin profiles would stay consistent: Chrome Soft spinning least, then Z-Star, then ProV1 and highest-spinning being the TaylorMade. That's the same as how they came out when I tested them. That new TP5 is just a very spinny ball, for some reason. I think the Tour Response is one of the best urethane balls for average swing speeds. The Vice Pro Soft is almost exactly the same ball for less money, also, btw!
    Would love to see a similar test with, say, Titleist Tour Speed, TM Tour Response, Vice Pro Soft, and maybe Oncore Elixir. All those are $40 USD or less, low compression, but urethane covers.
    Enjoyed the Break Handicap video, also!

      Hi Daniel! Thank you for watching my videos(s) and for your great comment.
      1. Totally agree that with bigger sample sizes the distances would have got closer - the Pro v1 for example suffered from being first (lesson learned to mix the order up next time!) and we are talking about 8-10 ‘good’ shots with each ball with each club - times that by 5 and I think you’d be spot on!
      2. Glad you got similar results! Proves I’m not alone! Haha!
      3. I play the Tour Response and LOVE it! First ball I’ve settled on for a couple of years now!
      4. Would love to do this sort of ball test and given the popularity of this ball review I plan to do many more throughout this year! So thank you for your suggestion!

I do agree though, any indoor test like this doesn’t, for example, test how good the TP5 is supposed to be in the wind etc. All the best! 👍🏼

    Really worthwhile test
    What I would have liked to have seen extra would have been data from a club in the 19-22 degree loft range of club since the low spin nature of the balls can make it difficult to get some of these balls into a good flight window with average swing speeds.
    Also it would be good to see a test of these "tour balls" to be put up against a ball that's been designed for more average swing speeds in mind like the Bridgestone B RXS / BRX which is still used on tour but by people like Lexi Thompson and Fred Couples

    Really great job. I have 2 comments.
    First, I think a longer wedge shot probably would have added a lot of valuable data.
    And second, really nit-picking, it would be a great idea to alternate each shot with a different ball to eliminate any biases due to your swings, as you did mention differences between your first and last.
    I appreciate the information!

      Hi Rich! Thanks for the comment and the constructive thoughts - always welcomed! I absolutely agree about alternating the balls more, it does mean more time in the bay with back and forth to the computer but I think there’s even a way of hitting a few, alternating etc. because you’re right the biggest variable in all of this is me! Did you mean for the 10 yard chip shot to replace with like a 50 yarder (for example)? Thanks for watching! All the best 👍🏼

    When I worked as a marshal at a golf course I did empirical comparison testing of different ball by hitting straight, fade and draw shots from a fixed location to the greens on various holes, which served the dual purpose of dialing in my yardages for the different shot shapes and determining which shot shape was the best strategy to use for the shape of each green.
    The most revealing test was progressively increasing the alteration in stance and face angles for hitting fades and draws in 15° increments from 15° to 45° to evaluate just how much a ball could be curved away and then back to the target. As might be expected there was a big difference in performance between premium and urethane and surlyn covered balls. To paraphrase Trevino, “You can talk to a Titleist (coax it back to target) but Pinnacle just won’t listen”.
    How much would the ability to shape shots affect recreation golfers with average swing speeds? They would see a huge advantage playing premium urethane cover balls if shaping shots, but most recreational golfers don’t get a chance to practice enough to perfect that skill and don’t even try. I pity because it adds an entirely new strategic dimension to playing approach shots.
    It would be interesting to see a “how much can it be curved” test of balls with actual measurements of swing path / face angles.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  Рік тому +1

      Hi Teddy! Wow that sounds like some comprehensive testing and work you did there!!! Amazing!
      It’s a great thought process! Personally I don’t see many amateurs (particularly those of my handicap or higher) with the skill to move the ball both ways and whilst I absolutely think their skill level would increase if they could, I think too many try it on the course rather than sticking with one repeatable shape! Regarding how the ball comes into this, I think it’s fair that a more spinny ball like the Pro v1, does have more side spin too and as you say can add more curve to the ball. Like many in the comments have suggested, this might not be a good thing for less skilled golfers as it might exaggerate a slice or hook further… what’s your thoughts?
      Great comment though and thank you for watching my video! All the best 👍🏼

    • @TeddyCavachon
      @TeddyCavachon Рік тому +3

      @@weekendtourpros Thanks for the reply. I learned to shape shots shortly after I started playing back in the 1980s by reading “Golf My Way” by Nicklaus. This was before the “new flight laws” (i.e., learning 6 ways to miss) and Jack’s explanation of the cause and effect is the best I’ve ever seen. Curve in flight isn’t caused by “side-spin” (new speak) but by the spin axis of the ball getting tilted, which then affects lift and drag in flight like a banked airplane wing in a coordinated turn. That made the swiping action action across the ball required to create the curve easier to understand: a tight inside-out swing path with face aimed inside of center is needed to tilt the spin axis for a draw and outside-in swipe outside of center on the ball /target line is needed to hit a slice.
      That helped me understand why I had a chronic slice-I was striking outside of center on the ball. At address I lined up a square face dead center on the ball-target line, but during the downswing the club force pulled me on my toes enough to move the club head outside the line and my subconscious reflexes tried to fix the problem by steering the face back square into the ball resulting in out-in path and face open to path slice. It wasn’t a swing fault but rather one of set-up posture and lack of dynamic “athletic” tension in the legs being able to anticipate and react to the increase in force when the club head mass accelerated down to the ball. It wasn’t until I was able to understand and correct that root cause - by understanding the cause and effect of what creates a slice - that I was able to hit any shot consistently.
      The “old school” way of learning to shape shots is to start by changing only one of the variables - stance angle. Pick a target flag on the range and warm up by hitting as consistently straight at it as possible for about ten shots. Then open stance 15°, pick a target on that line and hit another 10 or so shots to groove swinging on that new line and coming up looking at the target in the distance 15° not at the flag. Coming up looking down the swing line, not at the target is one of the keys for shaping shots and coming up and turning to look at the target with eye line level is a difficult habit to break. Once everything is grooved to swing 15° left then start incrementally opening the face a few degrees, hit shots and observe the results. For example if using a 7 iron start by opening it half way between the loft of the 7 and an 8 iron, then equal 8, half way between 8 and 9, etc. From the 15° open stance line the ball will start curving back until it comes to rest near the target flag in the center. You wind up with an easy to remember / repeat combination like open stance 15° open 7 iron like an 8 iron when hitting into a green which runs left to right. Instead of aiming for pin or center of green you aim to land the all to the left knowing it will kick and roll to the right.

    great review thanks! I would love to see a review of budget balls: Srixon Soft Feel, TM Distance+, Titleist TruFeel. Do these budget soft feeling balls cost us around the green? Do they really not spin on shorter shots? As a high handicapper, I've usually gone with budget balls because I lose so many. But as a high handicapper my short game always costs me a lot of strokes, so I'm starting to wonder what would happen if I play conservatively from tee to green (hit shorter clubs and lay up more often) so I don't lose so many balls, and use a better ball to hold the green on the wedge shots?

    Nice little test. Regular swing speeds cover a lot more golfers. Definitely worth putting in a budget ball or two to see if there's any real difference at lower speeds. The other issue is indoor ball tests can't show the actual ball flight properly since a "model" ball has to be used to guess ball flight based on launch conditions. So if the dimple design or core effects flight of two different balls with the same launch condition there's no way an indoor test can tell them apart. Also, I wonder about spin off mats vs. turf. You could take the 2 balls that diverged the most out to the course and set up some shots to see how much different they actually behave.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  Рік тому +2

      Hi Thunder! Thank you so much for watching my video and for your great comment! You're absolutely right, with all these tests, particularly indoors, there's always only so much you can test, like the limited ball flight - I'm led to believe that the TP5 performs great in the wind where it's marginally smaller so you're spot on - we can't test that here! I'm also told that mats 'generally' reduce spin by about 1000rpm but as you say there's no exact science without testing it is there?! If I can get hold of a TM or GC launch monitor on the grass I'd love to test them like you suggest - so thank you for the great idea! Thanks again for watching! All the best, Luke

      Hi Frank! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video! Interesting observations from your own testing and exactly why we should all do our own! I’ve always found the Chrome Soft to be quite long but that’s just a feeling rather than any science! Tbh I think more spin does mean more curve as a general rule due to increased side spin so do think that is a plus for the Chrome Soft and Z Star. But I’ll note that for next time as I do think - like you suggest - ultimately my skill as a handicap golfer overrides the ball in that area! All the best! 👍🏼

    One thing - the carry distances for the TP5 in the 7 iron section of the test were probably held down by the amount those shots curved. With 20 feet of average slice vs less than 1 for the Callaway and Srixon, the TP5 probably went as far in the air, but lost a lot to sideways movement. In addition, striking the ball with an open face would have created a higher launch and greater peak height in addition to shorter distance - faded/sliced shots do that.

      Hi Jim! Great spot and something I’d missed when looking at the data myself! I don’t overly recall hitting those batch of shots worse but I must have! Hi 77bovi! I include about 95% of the shots I hit and only exclude the odd terrible strike which would skew the data (eg a chunked 7 iron that goes 120 yards or a pull hooked drive that goes 180 through the air - everything else stays in!)What I would say is that as a 12 handicap golfer I’m probably the biggest variable in the test so, especially with the top of the bag, I probably have a little more variability in strike etc. which will have some effect on the numbers! But that’s exactly why I do these tests so they are relatable for many! :)
      The test you mentioned in your comment, would you like to see them tested against each other or just reviews of those balls? @giomusah2155 Hi Gio! Thanks for watching and for your question. It’s hard to give a definitive answer to that based on the limited information because price point, feel and spin profile are all important factors… what I can say is that I’m a low ball flight player and little slower than you and I’ve been really impressed with the Callaway ERC Soft and Srixon AD333 (or Q Star if you’re outside the UK) in terms of all round performance at a good price point… and I have gamed the Bridgestone Tour B RX for a while now and enjoyed that!

      @@weekendtourpros - If you have time, a few other premium golf balls to try. Titleist AVX, Bridgestone Tour XS, and Callaway Chrome XLS. I found depending on the golf course conditions, these golf balls perform remarkably. I recently switched from PRO V1 to AVX and found it to go as far as the PRO V1 off the driver but longer on mid to high-iron shots. AVX spins a bit less around the greens than Pro v1 but I adjusted my short game for this. The best golf ball I have ever put with is the Bridgestone. I don't know what they do, but in my opinion, it's the best-balanced golf ball and it rolls true. Callaway XLS has a great feel of a soft golf ball, Long to mid irons this ball goes a looongggg way and around the greens, it has good performance but due to the low spin, some golfers may find it may not have enough spin. I play the Z-Star and find it's great on good days when I'm swinging well but on days when I swing poorly I find soft compression Wilson Duo Soft+ balls work much better for me. In tournaments I like the AVX, Prov1 and Chromesoft because they feel pretty good putting but it probably wouldn't matter too much what I use. My swing speed is right around 100 MPH though. Hi Joel! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! I think you’ve hit the nail on the head for me when you say you see zero difference on the course. I personally am not skilled enough as a mid handicap golfer to tell if the ball is the cause of the flight or my strike (and as a result I assume it’s the latter). I do think that’s where sometimes ignorance is a bliss as when I test these balls I can see that they do perform differently so sometimes I think it’s better not to know! 😂 like you though, I pick my ball based on feel and value (best quality for the price I feel comfortable paying knowing I lose them!).
      I do genuinely think that there are a few misconceptions with balls though… it’s the only piece of equipment we use on every shot and it’s also one of the cheapest things to buy in golf and I definitely think some people are willing to spend £500/$600 on a new driver to gain 5 yards when often playing the right ball (not necessarily a premium one!) or even the same ball consistently can achieve this for a fraction of the price. What are your thoughts???

    The average golfer swing speed is around 85-95. Except for the Chrome Soft these tour balls and many others not compared here are for 100+ and up. The average tour player is around 115-120. Tour balls also spin more so tour players can stop the ball on the green and fade or draw as they see fit. The 5 and up hcp golfer, can't effectively control a fade or draw they struggle with just staying in the fairway or hitting a green. The reality is high spin balls will slice and hook more than low spin balls, and are just plain harder to control for 98% of golfers.
    This video was very well done and he did mention it was for someone who want's to play a premium ball no matter what. Just remember, tour balls are premium balls designed for professionals not the public. Chances are you would be bettor off with compression suited for your swing speed and spin rates that help you hit the ball straighter. Wink, wink they are also a lot less expensive.

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  Рік тому +1

      Hi Blake! Hard to say for certain without all the data on your swing but in my experience of recent testing I’ve found that most balls all spin quite low with the driver these days and there’s not a lot in it whatever ball I test (there’s loads of ball reviews on my channel that will prove this at my swing speed).
      In terms of irons, ultimately the premium constructed balls do spin more but there’s a balance as you say as the swing speed becomes slower that you may not be able to compress them as much where they are harder and not get the benefits of the potential spin. I would also say spin on its own isn’t everything with irons… if you can get a lot of height with a ball and get it to come in with a steeper/higher land angle and relatively good spin you’ll find it stops just as quickly, sometimes quicker and that’s where a slightly softer ball may help if your swing speed is lower.
      The highest spinning iron balls I’ve tested outside of Pro V1 are TP5 and the Kirkland ball but both came at a slight distance loss for me where they were too spinny and they are both similar firmness to a Pro V1. Maybe a sensible option for you to try is something in the ‘mid-firmness’ category - not as firm as the balls in this test but more so than something really soft. I’m thinking Bridgestone Tour B RX, Titleist Tour Speed and Wilson Triad. I have reviews of all of them on my channel!
      If you find they are still too firm I really like the TaylorMade Tour Response. If anyone asked me which ball they should try if they swing it like me then I’d pick that ball all day. It’s brilliant (and I don’t game anything else TaylorMade so I say that objectively!). Hope that helps Blake and thanks for watching my video and for the comment! 👍🏼

      @@weekendtourpros thanks for the reply! Like i said, im not sure my speeds, but im mid twenties and feel its at least average if not a little higher for an athletic male. I've noticed a ball such as the prov1 or the avx is longer and straighter with driver, but a ball such as the bridgestone e6 (feels softer) is much better for the irons. they seem to go the true distance, more pure shots, higher, etc.. ill have to give the tour response a try!

      Hi Blake! No problem at all. Yes I’d be surprised if your swing speed is lower than mine if you’re younger and sound far more sporty than I am! I definitely think it’s worth trying the ones I recommended. The Bridgestone E6 is VERY soft so you might even find that something like the Bridgestone Tour B RXS (green package) is a good one to try too. It’s also quite soft, not as soft as the E6 mind, but has a premium construction very similar to the Pro V1. 👍🏼

Yes, I did try to cover this in the video in the test overview, durability review and some of the data walkthroughs (but maybe not well enough!) as I naturally sped up a little with each club as I hit more balls the Pro v1 being first had a slight disadvantage in hindsight. I did always hit a few with it not included in the data sets to warm up with that club but it’s still a valid point and always the risk with any human test! I think the Pro v1 showed it’s quality despite that disadvantage though! Thanks for the question and I hope that helps! 👍🏼

      Hi SuperDuper Awesome! Tbh I rarely look at the roll out with any launch monitor other than to compare two batches against each other to see which had more/less roll. I’d therefore always suggest taking the actual rollout numbers with a pinch of salt as the simulated fairways greens never match reality IMO.
      For example I do a lot of club testing and spot that I get about 60ft/12 yards of roll normally on TM when I test 7 irons and I never see that much roll on the course even in firm summer conditions.

      Hi Andrew! Thanks for replying to the comment! Whilst you’re absolutely right, the average swing speed player like myself doesn’t generate enough speed or spin, the point about TM roll out is different though and why most trusted experts all talk about carry only on launch monitors and then use peak height, spin and land angle to measure control rather than the roll out on the launch monitors. Obviously comparing two data sets together it gives some indication relative to each other but that’s about all I use it for! It is great when you play simulator golf though and the driver rolls 20 yards further than it ever does in real life for me! 😂😂😂

I am talking balls from Vice, Cut and Kirkland. I played the cut Blue last year and they performed very well. I finished out the season using Vice balls as Golftown had run out of the Cut blue that I was playing. Was also very pleased with that ball. To note, shot the lowest round of the year with the Cut. Here in the Great White North these balls can be had for $24.99 on sale to regular price of $30 bucks a doz compared to the Srixon @ $49.99/doz and the Pro-V1 @$64.99/doz. Hi Devolution! Thanks for watching my video and for the great and informative comment! It’s a really fair and valid question! I personally don’t play a premium ball because it hurts my wallet too much when I lose them! 😂 But there are loads of average golfers out there who do want to (or already do) because they see playing a premium ball as giving them one more thing likely to make golf more enjoyable for them! I think we therefore all see it differently! I do think the direct to consumer offerings and the less well established brands like some you mentioned are the value options here and totally agree with you but in my opinion there isn’t enough brand reputation yet for people not looking to do their own testing or research to give some of them a go, what do you think? You need to compare a tour ball with a 2nd tier ball (like the Tour Response by TM) and a 2-piece soft ball (like the Callaway Supersoft). Most players should NOT be playing a Tour ball. They can't compress it enough, it spins too much, and it launches too low. Also, they can't even take advantage of the spinny covers.

Doesn’t mean you can’t use them but you should consider an AVX or one of the slower swing speed balls from Bridgestone. For all of these balls you need a club head speed over 105 (with driver) I am just a guy on the internet though! They all shank into the woods the same lol.

      Hi Gydez! Thanks for watching the video and for your comment! I don’t disagree at all! I’ve always been told the X version of these balls is better for me and have previously tried all four of these in the X version. Sadly, like a lot of golfers, I just don’t enjoy the feel of them so that ends up turning me off! However I definitely plan to review more balls this year and have the X version review on my list next and will also ensure I do a Titleist Vs Titleist one and include the AVX etc. too! Thanks for your comment and for watching the video! 👍🏼

      Somewhat true. I would say quality of strike is more important than just speed. If you swing 108 but never hit the center you wont compress the ball. If you swing 102 and hit it in the middle of the club every time you will compress it enough to get all the benefits. Slower swings benefit from more spin so the ball stays in the air.

    • @mikepga1
      @mikepga1 Рік тому +6

      Swing speed is not a factor when selecting a ball. That is a myth. Every golfer has many different swing speeds, not just one. AVX is not a slower swing ball. It’s spin and flight characteristics have nothing to do with a players swing speed.

    • @greatwhite3676
      @greatwhite3676 Рік тому +2

      @@mikepga1 Sort of. If you dont compress the ball you wont get the most out of it. Lower compression balls could help a lot of people. But to say only people that swing 105+ can use pro v1 sounds dumb.

      Hi Gregg! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! All of the data I’ve seen shows that 90mph is just below average for a male with a Driver!
      TrackMan compiled all the data in their database a couple of years ago and the average was 93.4mph (I’m about 93mph when I’m not 2 hours into a test and very tired!). Also the distance I hit it is almost identical to the Arccos data report for 2022 which included over 2 million shots of driver only on par 4 and par 5 tee shots (225.9 yards). So I think I’m bang on the average from those two data sources! I hope that helps! All the best 👍🏼

    The spin rayes are illusion, can handicap players really tell difference between 5900 rpm and 6600 rpm on wedge. NO.
    More than likely its the strike. We have all been led to believe that hit a wedge at target it will stop dead. Often want ball to release, what if play bump and run shots spin means the chip can grab too much and not roll out.
    Golfers playing a premium high spin ball will not make you a premium golfer

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  10 місяців тому +2

      Hi Geoff! Thanks for watching my video and for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate them! 👍🏼 I totally agree that minor discrepancies in spin aren’t noticeable on the course (I say this often in my videos!) and are likely caused by my strike - I can’t remember if I say it in this video but I do say in most of my videos that I’m the biggest variable in these tests as a 12 handicap golfer. That is why I hit A LOT of shots when doing these tests so I can take out the 10% of anomalies good and bad and leave you with the best possible data but even then it’s not perfect as it brings in the fatigue factor! But hopefully it’s relatable for more golfers than watching a pro with a top 0.1% swing speed!
      I also agree that playing a premium ball doesn’t guarantee you’ll become a premium golfer but I do think playing the same ball all the time is fundamental and a better quality ball would also help lots of golfers! I also don’t understand how most golfers will pay £500+ for a new driver but won’t pay £5-10 a dozen more for a golf ball that will help them on every shot they hit! 🤷‍♂️
      What I would say though is that for me personally, as a low spin player I have been told by two of the most respected club fitters in the UK that I need more spin - a premium construction ball (regardless of price) is the easiest and cheapest way to do this. The spin adds height and control - two things most amateurs I play with, including myself, could all do with more of! Even with these premium balls I can’t stop it dead with any clubs unless greens are soft but I can stop it quicker and my front to back dispersion is tighter through the bag and my scores have come down as a result! Regardless you won’t see me paying £48 a dozen for Pro V1s but I’ll happily put them on my Christmas list each year and use them throughout the summer! Haha!
      All the best and thanks for giving my channel a go! 👍🏼

      Hi M! Thanks for watching the video and your comment! Sadly we can’t all be long hitters like you! I wish I was though! 😂 You might be interested to know though that the research and data shows that the average male driving distance in 2022 was 226 yards meaning my 230 total is bang average! It also aligns closely to LPGA clubhead speeds! So hopefully this video helps the majority of average golfers, even if it doesn’t help the long hitters like yourself! I also think there’s more to gain from a short hitter playing the right ball for them too rather than less like you imply! But we are all different and should respect each others opinions! All the best pal! 👍🏼

    • @Mjones8383
      @Mjones8383 Рік тому +1

      @weekendtourpros never said I was a long hitter, but with the 220 total and clubbed speed like that those are the wrong balls to test. I personally only drive it 280 with the occasional 300. So I'm not lighting up the course. Plus the numbers you speak of, don't take age into account so all the senior golfers are in there too. I'm sure the guys from 20 to 50 average more

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  Рік тому +1

      Hi M! Yeah the Arccos data does break it down by age too and you are spot on. The older you are the shorter you are. The longest golfers in the 2022 data set are 15-19 year olds who average 243 yards total and the shortest are 70+ who average 191 total. But that also does make you a really long hitter! Definitely in the top few percent of all golfers! And I’m very jealous! Can I have a few yards please? 😂😂😂
      I also totally agree with your point that as a general rule that the “perfect” ball in terms of performance for most golfers of my swing speed would not necessarily be one of the ones in this test. But some golfers can’t stand the feel of those balls (myself included) and it’s therefore a tough balancing act between enjoying the feel and being confident with it vs. the best performance isn’t it? So the purpose of the video was to try and help those golfers out and if the video and data has done that for at least one golfer then I’m really happy! Because that’s all I’m trying to do. This is just a hobby and something I’m spending my money doing because I enjoy the process and learning! (And where I’m still new to this I’m making a lot of mistakes too!) Thanks again for watching and commenting! Keep enjoying your golf! All the best 👍🏼

      Hi Falcon Eye! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! Apologies, I should have been clearer, my determination that I am an average swing speed golfer is based on a TrackMan study from a couple of years ago where their database showed the average driver swing speed is 93mph (which I usually am but I was a bit slower in this test as tiredness had kicked in by the time I reached driver as I’d been hitting balls for 1.5 hours at that point! Haha!). It’s also supported up by the Arccos Driver Distance report which in 2022 includes 20 million driver shots on par 4 and par 5 holes and concludes the average golfer drives it 225.9 yards. Sorry for not being clearer but thank you for watching my video and for your comment! All the best! 👍🏼
