All I want in life is Empire 2 and the massive smoke screens that comes from the insane amount of gunpowder going off
Empire 2. Massive continents. More settlements.
Removal of chain settlements.
3K and Troy diplomacy.
For the love of god no Warhammer style formations and to add back line of sight for gun units.
Expansive roster and progression of units depending on unlocked technologies.

@@Rschont11 Assuming you survive that deadly volley, you would still have to charge into the enemy and basically get ganged up on, your basically dead either way

In reality, only up to third row could fire. A lot of those men are also panicking from the incoming bayonet charge decreasing the accuracy considerably.

@@SandvichTrolli48 now you said it. It looks like only 2 rows fired and some opportunist 3rd row fired as well. It's different from the mod I'm currently using which allows everyone to fire that seems so unrealistic. But it's angled so we can't see it properly. What mod is this?

And the thing is, the people who shot the muskets are also terrified almost out of their minds from the incoming charge, because it takes absolute balls of steel to stand your ground during a mass banzai like that.

That's actually the French Flag from the Old Regim, guys A White Flag, some blue on it, 2 angels and like you said with "Le Fleurs de Lys'. You could say "Golden Lily Flowers"

@@ngng1156 I figured, they didn't timed the charged well, they should've waited for them to shoot and then charge in. They lost like 20% of their men when they got shot point blank. I guess they thought they could make it in time

I'm not sure if any French royal infantry regiments wore a blue coat with white pants in the 18th century, but the graphics are nice, if not historically accuracy
This kinda reminds me of that scene from Barry Lyndon when British troops marched right into French volleys what a great movie and what a mod I wish this was empire although I still love the gane

Redcoats probably should have kept on the top of the hill and softened them up with a few volleys before charging downhill.

That is actually quite a smart thing to do historically for the British. As the enemy will aim high, the gunpowder smoke will blow up on their faces and blind them at the moment the enemy is coming down with Bayonets.
The more usual practice is to load your muskets, fix your bayonets, charge to a dozen or so yards away, fire your own volley, then finish charging.
Also it takes a certain type of person to not just run away when people run at you with pointy sticks. Most aren’t that person.
I think it was quite common for soldiers to look away when firing a musket because it was so inaccurate they didn't bother aiming, especially at point-blank range like this?

talk about not in time. I had that happen while i was on ETW doing the screenshots of some of the DLC units on there and I had that happen. they made it in while the first rank was opening up on the enemy.

And to say Pickett's Charge was the same idea, 80 years later, against entranched infantry with rifles muskets. Wtf was he thinking
Imagine. Hundreds of barrels ready to shoot your side. And you are the front line solder who have to charge into that. War is brutal
In real life they would usually try to avoid this. Often the charging side would stop short to fire their own volley, which would mess up the line of the enemy company and prevent them from returning a co-ordinated volley. The more usual method though was to never charge a company that was still coherent enough to fire in volleys.
Although some British regiments did almost make it a policy never to waste the King’s Ammunition on a Frenchman, and charge into melee combat at the first opportunity, they did usually at least wait for the French to fire first so they could get a clean charge in.
@@InceyWincey Yes, that's the correct tactic right there. Walk up to the enemy until you see the white in their eyes to deliver your own volley, following with the charge. The effect of an accurate volley combined with a devastating charge would break the enemy morale shortly, especially against poorly trained infantry.
The juiciness of the muskets firing, the downhill charge, the effectiveness, the timing, perfection.
Honestly, goes pretty hard. Maybe I should check out one of the powder games?

Yep, end up drooping it in rage after msny crashes and unrensponsive units that just stare the enemy, after that i didnt even wanted play Napoleón even tho i heard is good, but anyways , at least shogun 2 was really good and gave me the experience i wanted.

Should have had them charge in a wheel formation, swinging wide in a swooping motion. Losses will be high regardless, but the shock factor might have routed them. Think little round top but bigger

This is why I like Empire more than Napoleon in terms of gunplay. Units actually die at point blank range. In Napoleon, you can shoot a volley point blank and it'll only kill 20-30 guys.
