  • Photographing massive icebergs -
At the end of my 2023 Iceland trip I transferred to Greenland for five days of landscape photography and exploration around the town of Ilulissat. I take a boat trip into the ice fjord, go dogsledding, and photograph around town with the Horseman VH 6x9 view camera

Beautifully crafted photographs of an amazing location. Great, quietly spoken, delivery and first class videography. Your work is now looking more like National Geographic than UA-cam. Well done Chris!

Wow, really enjoyed this Chris. Brought back some great memories, but aside from that it's just a lovely video about a fascinating place which you've brought to life so well.

I grew up in Ilulissat and I have only very good memories from there and it was the times before internet so we were always outdoor playing. Also sailing in midnight sun in the summer.
That blue building you are so find of and took good time to photograph is unfortunately not a repair shop. This must be the absolute highlight of its lifetime 😂
The very old houses that don’t have sewers and thus not modern toilets have instead a metal bucket. These buckets are collected a couple of times a week by workers and the content is emptied in the sea from that building. Now you know 😂

Fun to see our workshop through eyes Chris! I'm sad I'm not able to visit next year during winter. Loved the drone pano at the end. I always forgot to do horizontal pano's too 😊

Just seeing this one. The youtube gods must be really pissed with you. It looks like a great trip. The iceberg shots are sublime!

Hmmm, doesn't look like Zion. Ha. Nice little stop over, nonetheless. The iceberg image with the floating ice in the foreground earned the Sue stamp of approval, so good on you for that (I like it too, plus the one with the boat and evening colors on the ice). However, should be no surprise, my favorites were the two film images of the buildings. That 6x9 positive stuff is, well, positive. The drone images give a nice overall perspective. It does look like it was a bit chilly, though. Good job. Thanks for posting.

Excellent video Chris, and some great shots. There is no place on earth like Greenland, both for the landscapes, but also for the Kalaallit culture. I hope you had the chance to, or have future plans to, visit Nuuk and Sisimiut. I'll be going back in 2025, and that can't happen soon enough.

The intro was almost poetic. Loved the icebergs photos especially the one with the bird and the banded ice. It's good to see some footage/photos of the village and sleddogs. Very interesting vlog 😊

Amazing photos Chris. They show Provia at its absolute best, and it was definitely the right film for the job.

interesting vlog. the drone video and pictures look really nice. also the picture @ 6:52. Shame your film camera was acting up and you had to take so many pictures of the same scene as a precaution.

When I see Chris Darnell has another video I know it's going to be amazing and this certainly didn't disappoint. Those last few drone shots were incredible for sure. Well done. By the way, what are those gloves you were wearing (the flip finger gloves)?
