- Photographing frozen landscapes in Iceland -
In this episode I photograph an interesting coastal rock formation, brave severe winter conditions to photograph a powerful waterfall, and tour an ice cave to shoot incredible ice abstracts. I finish things off at a familiar location with a frozen glacial lagoon.

You are as good as anyone on You Tube...and among the most relaxed and enjoyable presenters
Thanks Thomas, that's really kind!
People do really love what you do. Not only educational but also a great detox from the everyday rush. Every video a great tranquil journey.
Good to have someone out there that shows the new generation how to do it the correct way : )
Thanks so much, that's really kind!
Despite the weather conditions as always fantastic video!! Thanks Chris!
Absolutely loved the ice cave shots! Abstract heaven.
Thanks Grant!
Loved this video. The shots in the ice cave and the last set with the glacier are so captivating. Well, all of the shots were fantastic. Nice work.
Thanks so much Dave!
Some fabulous abstracts
Your ice cave images are simply superb! Great video, fantastic images. Best wishes..David in the UK.
Awesome video and photos! The photos of the ice caves were surreal! ❤ I am binge watching the rest of the Iceland videos now 👍
Dude you’re a spectacular photographer. Always enjoy these.
Thanks so much!
Wow! What a great adventure. Really good images & drone footage. thank you.
Thanks Patrick! It really was a great trip, and lots of good memories to go along!
That hostel room looked like something from Star Trek! The ice cave shots were pretty amazing. Truly unique. Surprised they allowed tripods in such tight quarters. Really enjoying the Iceland series Chris!
Thanks Philip! Haha, yeah that was a fun stay with the alien pods. Not sure the tripod thing would have worked if it was any smaller, I was hanging in the back of the pack to stay out of the way but it was definitely tight!
What a great video! How had I not come across your channel before...?!? (I came here via Andy Mumford's last video.) Great images and clear explanations of how you got there, all wrapped in an engaging package! Now I have to make my way through the back catalogue - yay! Many thanks.
Stunning collection of images 👍 I want to pick something out but there's too many, glad to dee you back.
Thanks Andrew! I had a hard time picking favorites out of this trip also, I had so much editing to do!
That last shot with the R5 of the huge ice cracks leading up to the glacier was awesome. Drone footage was also spectacular. A totally wonderful experience for you, Chris.
Thanks Jim! I totally didn't know what to expect walking up to that glacier, but it turned out to be a real highlight of the trip!
Lots of good ones but those drone shots looked amazing!
Thanks Zach!
Awesome stuff my friend. Cool backstory on those ice caves too. I guess I’d always known that they were always changing, but maybe not as rapidly as with every season. I really like the first images along the coast with the ice formations in the water. Well done 👍
Thanks Brian! Yeah the guides were telling us they have to hunt for new spots every year, crazy to think of considering how much ice there is!
Those are some more fantastic shots you got!!
Thanks Paul!
TOP 😍
Chris, that ice cave! That's it, I'm moving in there together with the elves 😂. That and the provia shots. Beautiful subtle blue shades in the ice
Ha! Thanks Bob. I agree, it would be great to spend some extended time there one day, there’s just so much to see and shoot!
N "ice" adventure dude. Beautiful pics.
Thank you!
Great video, Chris. The Provia did a great job on the waterfall, even catching good sky detail. The drone shots are beautiful; you did good with that electrical flying gizmo picture thing. ;-)
Haha, thanks Tim!
Awesome work as always Chris👏
Thanks Kyle!
Loved the images. The horseshoe shaped falls reminded me of Niagara from the Canada side (I was there in December so the comparison is not far fetched). I found the ice caves images fascinating. Keep up the good work, highly entertaining.
Thanks Dann! Never been to Niagara, hopefully one day…
Great images
Thanks James!
Nice to see new and different things from Iceland. Good on you for that. Like the first image of the 'drinking buffalo'. So now we're a month away from fall colors you know where so you'd better get home (yeah, I know you are).
Thanks Frank! It definitely looks like a drinking buffalo, ha! I’m quite ready for cooler temps and colors, I gotta say. Hopefully I can get out enough this year, things have been a little hectic lately
Great video and photos. Cryopod hostel. I thought you might have woken up in the distopian future or maybe you did 'Idiocarcey' 😂 I was on that Vick beach in 1989 two foot to the left of where you were standing. There was a 6ft square lump of rotting whale washed up on it. 🤢 I really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work 😁
Haha, thanks Andrew! As much as I love that movie it becomes scarier and scarier... Fortunately no whale carcasses while I was there, I can't imagine how bad that must have been..
An aesthetic video, if only I could go on holiday there, it would be a shame, Hey, I'm your fan from Indonesia, I really like the band Mu Divisions, tell me why it seems like the band has disappeared
Tell me about the band Divisions, oh I really miss it
I’m actually heading to Iceland in October. Is this how it looked for you recently or were you there last winter?
This was in March of this year, so during the tail end of winter
