- A thing that I wish was explored more was having Dark attribute Digimon as partners. Survive did it and even Ghost Game to an extent since Gulus was his own character. We had traditionally "good" Digimon in pseudo-villainous roles such as the Royal Knight before so I don't see why the opposite couldn't happen. Part of the dynamic could even be about the discrimination the Dark Digimon faces or how it would control its instincts; - Also a female protagonist could also have potential since by default she wouldn't just be the girl of the group and would be required to have more depth and that (maybe but my hopes wouldn't be high) could be enough to only need one female character; - Not the main character but it would be nice if just like in Liberator there were characters that had existing Digimon but with new lines. Digimon has been going on for so long so people do have memories for "A" or "B" Digimon that never had a chance to be on the spotlight before. I would personally love someone part of the main cast having a random old Digimon like Drimogemon or Yanmamon (if you think really hard about it NiseDrimogemon is a dark Digivolution). Overall I kinda just want that Digimon would break the mold and bring out the unexpected. Have an Agumon digivolve into something like ReptileDramon or a Holy Digimon be the de-facto "bad guy", maybe even play a little with the past series' gimmicks and have a Rhinomon that is a Digi-Egg of Miracles evolution.
Just finished your book it’s so well written and such a captivating story, I think the newest season needs to give us better lore with how the digital world came to be and how it ties to the first one properly
An idea I’ve had for a while now is an evil tamer partnered with an evil Digimon and get along great. The Digimon isn’t some mindless monster, the human isn’t being influenced by some dark force, they’re just two jerks who teamed up and became best friends.
Yeah, and eventually they still out to be the heroes.. but not too fast. And maybe they still choose to remain neutral, even after saving the world. Nice idea!
Man the 02 epilogue would be a well of goodies for long time fans. If it ever got adapted, the kids Digimon should have a branch evolution. It should be different from their parents, so it’s not just the same story as their parents.
I still can't get over the number of missed opportunities in Ghost Game. Emma was practically begging to be the second girl, and she fit in so well with them.
4:00 I think Ghost Game makes up for this with Jellymon. After all, in place of more human characters, they simply treat the Digimons no different from people in our core cast of 6. In some way, yeah, there's a lot of "what would Ruli do that Jellymon wouldn't do? What would Jellymon do that Ruli wouldn't do?".
Yeah I was definitely thinking about Jellymon. It's just a little weird because she is ultimately a parter digimon and I was referring to the human heroes. But I get what you're saying: they ARE the cast. You're not wrong!
Easy answer for why stick to Champion is the same for the Super Saiyan argument. Higher forms cost more energy, you wouldn't need to throw out WarGreymon for a rematch with Shellmon.
Yep that's what I'm saying "higher forms cost more energy" -- that's how it should be but often these shows DON'T have an energy system, or don't explain it.
They should add more tactical Fights with changing Forms. A too big Attack to evade? Return to Rookie to dodge it. A Perfect Level can Pierce trough Digizoid but Champion or even Ultimate cant? Change to Perfect Level. You want to cross a Mountain or Sea? If one of the Digimon Levels can Swim or fly use them. The Target is too far away? But your Digimon is a Brawler? Change to a Level that has Guns or Projectiles. Something along this Way.
I think what would help is having important people in the real world know and interact with the digital world/monsters. Closest we got was season 3 but makes no sense the government hasn't been more involved.
I really like your idea of limiting the digivoultions to the state of the hardware of the digivice. It would open up a lot potential to add stakes to combat scenarios when digivices need time to literally cooldown. It would also mechanically make use of rookie and baby forms since they would provide shorter cooldown times.
In all honesty if we returned anything I would love to see a fully done show on the original five digidestined, with Diago as the leader. A fully done version of that lore.
@DJ_Mr_Rodge I would love any version of the original 5 digidestined, but the little bit that we got in Digimon Tri was so amazing that I would love to get a full season of it. With Sovereign lore and all. Also if we get this and actually have them interact with the main 8 Digidestined then we will get our multi generational Digidestined. Also a crazy thought is that if they give us the original 5 in the adventure 2020 timeline that puts them in the 1990's which would be hilarious and crazy that in the new timeline the original 5 takes place in the same decade as the original 8.
you went over my head....all i know is tri and certain digimon series...i haven't yet fully watched the last digimon with tai and augumon because i don't i am ready to accept whatever the ending is (don't ruin it for me)....but yea i don't want them to go wild with it...keep it simple here the group that came before the tai and matt but failed that were mentioned in digimon 1 season when they returned back to the island (still think LOST took digimon 1 who premise for their show but i digress lol)....i guess that was the adults in the digimon tri series ....it going to be sad tragic and fully of tears at the end but i want all of it ....don't hold back for the kids ...let it be sad and every part and after the ending credits ...then play the scene where tai and kairi first meet augumon.....(oh i crying i got to rewatch digimon 1 and the movie )
So something that could check all your boxes is if the Digimon anime took inspiration from shows like Kamen Rider Geats. It's a tournament style show that will pull "random" people to compete in various missions to fight the monsters, and the winner at the end gets to have their wish fulfilled; there's downtime between missions where people go back to regular life or hangout in what is essentially the lobby, power ups are locked behind clearing mission/secret objectives that aren't a get once and keep forever but instead have to be found and passed between users, it's a competition so that human villain element is there, and even if you don't win, you could return as a challenger in the next tournament so you could have multi-generational characters. The other route that's kinda similar is to go the route of Megaman NT Warrior series. Humans have Digimon avatars that they bond with and then enter the Digimon into machines or the net to fight enemies. So basically, combine Our War Games and Tamers or go closer to Frontier where they become the Digimon and share the body whenever that have to (using Megaman terminology) jack in. Personally, I am of 2 thoughts for the next Digimon anime. 1. If the cast is large (6+ at start) then make it be an online game premise. Allow for a global cast and make them separate stories before the core cast unites. Example would be to have people competing initially within the Digimon Families to be the representative of the Nature Spirits, Deep Savers, etc. Then once all the reps have been appointed the next stage is a battle royal knockout tournament on a new arena. Here is where the core cast really meet each other, learn the truth that this isn't a game but the Digital World and humans are piting Digimon against each other for sport as they invaded the Digital World (it's why some Digimon appeared as enemies in the first arc as they opposed interacting with humans, viewing them as soldiers). Reveal each Digimon partner had different motivations going in: one didn't know at all, one was interested in power, one's people had misconstrued it to be a thing of glory, one just had curiosity about humans, one entered to get close to the humans responsible by winning through the ranks, one knew and was going to use the wish to end the fighting, one was forced to enter against their will, another entered completely by accident and couldn't leave, one was captured as a DigiEgg so they were raised for this, and whatever other reasons can be thought of to be unique. Turn the battle royale final 8 into going after the group hosting the tourney, especially if you reveal that the current arena for it was actually like the home of Digimon that got wiped out just to construct it. Have your main villain escape and the server that hosted the game goes down, cutting off access for our human cast, but the Digivice of the season allows them to enter the Digital World. Make the final season be exploring the Digital World that's in disarray as the actions of humans created a power vacuum and a new order that just vanished, so our cast has to solve problems while hunting down the villain who escaped as they haven't stopped what allowed them to be successful in their first conquest of the Digital World. 2. If the cast is small (3-5) then give the human 2 Digimon partners and make it set solely in the Digital World with heavy emphasis on lore. I've really wanted there to be an anime that focused on Legend-Arms and because Digimon won't do children running around with weapons, a Digimon partner with Legend-Arms partner works just fine. It'd allow for more exploration of character dynamics, allows for new lore to made, excuse for more Legend-Arms than the 2 lines we have + Spadamon, and new Digimon to get focus as they'll be centered around the weapon the best use to fight. The plot would probably be either very exploration into mythos focused and going into ruins or dungeons to find the Legend-Arms; or the could just straight up copy the Holy Grail Wars from the Fate/ series. Their could be some Digimon with a Legend-Arm but no human, either evil Digimon that subjugated the Legend-Arm or an anti-hero Digimon (who'd naturally be Champion/Adult or Ultimate/Perfect level) that capable of synchronizing with the Legend-Arm without the human acting as the mediator. It can really go in so many directions, but you also have RagnaLoardmon right there to be your Omnimon end game equivalent. Plus, I feel it'd challenge them to be more creative in scripting combat as you can't just humanoid every partner Digimon at the beginning, so how do the beastial, avian, aquatic, insectoid, and amorphous Digimon use these weapons. Hopefully, some killer designs come from trying to meet this challenge
I feel like an arc of keeping the digimons in secret or exposing them to the real world and the other humans discovering and not getting their memory erased it's a good idea with the idea of are they good or bad and the digidestined or chosen kids explaining why are they good is a good arc a clasicmtovme
Have you seen Bakugan Battle Brawlers because it’s first series did that one point you mentioned of having the cast be in different places, a little bit at least? Two of the characters were from different countries and they video chat with each other until the whole team came together.
Honestly, at this point I really just want V-Tamer 01 or Liberator Anime. For a new show though, I would love for it to stay a bit more classical, just some people (should be a bit older, like 16 to 21 I think) getting dragged into the digital world, having cool battles trying to find a way back and then it all becomes a world threatening thing.
The way I see it: all 9 of the “goggle-head” protagonists are all guys. In extension to your “at least two girls on the team” rule, I would also love to see a GIRL take that kind of roll on instead. It’d be a very interesting and cool dynamic shift, see someone female going through similar motions as Tai, Davis, Takato, Takuya, and so-on.
They tried something like that with Ruli from ghost game-except, she wasnt the main protagonist, so she got less focus (moreso because of GG’s episodic nature), and as stated in the video, her character was sometimes reduced to “girl.”
Same problem I have with YGO actually. We need more strong lady protags. I'm rather sick of the Sora's and Mimi's and Zoe's of the world: We need more Rika.
I wish for the magic of the original Adventure, the likeness of 02, the plot of Tamers, the designs and worldbulding of Frontier, the maturity of Savers, the epicness and vibrance of Xros Wars, the character development of Appmon, the battle scenes of Adventure 2020, the approachability of Ghost Game, and the OST of all of them ☺️🫶🏻
Funny you should mention multigenerational Digidestined, that’s a concept I’ve thought of for a Digimon fanfic series of my own, taking place in an entirely new series outside of the “Digimon Adventure” lore.
At least with Adventure it made sense everyone was from the same area, they were chosen because they witnessed the Greymon vs Parrotmon battle, maybe not the best chosen one decision method but it worked. Though only Data Squad has similarly strong reasons with it being an organization rather than a chosen one storyline.
While I do agree that it's best to have more than one girl in the core cast, I don't think it's fair to boil down Ruli as just "the girl". She was arguably more of a leader than Hiro, who isn't as assertive as her. She was often the one who pursued the mysteries instead of just waiting for them to just happen to her. For example, the Gigasmon episode happened because she dragged the rest of the gang to explore the caves because of rumors she heard. Also I would argue ghost game had more than one girl, the second one being Jellymon
I want a more sophisticated storytelling, something that appeals to older fans, and explores the lore of the Digital World in depth. Preferably, a multi-season series that gets more consequential with each season.
One thing I'm loving about digimon liberator, especially the novels, is how we have some older people with partner digimon, and their partners are even adult level Wich I feel is a nice touch.
Considering Digimon is not afraid to reinvent itself, I think a season like Liberator would be cool. Bring us a full on Digimon flavored Yu-Gi-Oh show to pull people into the card game. After that we REALLY need an 02 continuation to finish off their canon digivolution lines and bring the story back to the 2027 ending. After that they can move on from Adventure...
I would like a digimon series with similar guidelines to the Adventure 01. Digimon will grow tired if they go further, so if a battle can be won with a champion, have the champion do it, not the ultimate. Make them expend more energy. 01 got so many things right, follow those guidelines. Heck, even follow 02 and Tamers. I liked Xros, so maybe do different evolutions. Have 1 kid digivolve/warp digivolve, have another kid armor digivolve, have the next biomerge, while another becomes the spirit. Have one kid Xros. I think that would be cool. Make it episodic, and make the characters go through emotional situations that are relateable. It was always cool when a digidestined went through a problem they were having, over came it and unlocked a new level of digivolution.
I think that you forgot the most important thing: a serialized story. No making vague gestures towards a larger plot for the first 50 episodes and shoving all of the resolution into the last two. Have a story that advances at least a little bit every episode and characters that go through arcs during that time
Hope this time we have better story and writing like OG series did, new and returning villains, more character development(something missing in previous two anime), real life issues and references. Honestly, we can only hope more when they officially announce the new series.
You make some nice points. I prefer a new anime show set after or near the epilogue of 02 that does not focus on the children of the Adventure and 02 casts. They could incorporate the settings, characters, and concepts of shows like Tamers/Savers/Ghost Game into the Adventure world with a modern sci-fi edge. They keep trying to start afresh every time with a new setting/rules, but overall, similar characters and, upon failing, simply return to the Adventure saga once again. There is so much lore and narrative surrounding the titular monsters that is never touched upon. I often thought the digivices disappearing and the concept of chosen children vanishing in the ending of 02:The Beginning could lead to a storyline like Tamers where monsters and humans willingly choose partnerships and try to coexist with threats looming and organisations taking active part.
You’re 5.5 point absolutely agree adventures definitely ran all of its avenues except the one that 02 left us with I would personally love to see a tamer sequel but CEOs are always too scared to go away from what is safe
I have a few wants for 10th Digimon is. 1: Every five episodes is made for a pacific DigiDestined, 2: having the team have a few arguments from time to time to show how to get used to one another, 3: I do agree with you that I think you have more than just one girl I personally would like to have three instead of two, 4: having the limit Digievolution be connected to the strength of a DigiDestined, to show how much strain the DigiDestined is putting into the evolution, and 5: having the main human villain, for the first arc working with the main film, Digimon of the first arc, I just thought that would be interesting and maybe hint towards cracks within the enemy team.
A Kashi/All-Might type role filled by a veteran tamer and their digimon would be so cool in a Digimon show. Like, it gives the young characters an example of what they could become and it could work as a gutwrenching loss if it takes a more serious route.
Bring some more interesting, dangerous and scary villains. Myotismon, the Dark Masters, Kimeramon and the D-Reaper were terrifying, and loved the character arc that villains like The Digimon Emperor and Impmon got redemption arcs

An idea I've had is a continuation of the frontier series(kind of). Takes place when they are early 20s. After the rebuild of the digital world some of the human world got mixed in a nd digimon start appearing in the human world(kind of like they did in tamers). When takuya tries to digivolve into ancient greymon for some reason he's only able to digivolve unto agunimon. He's struggles to beat a champion lvl digimon. Eventually the old frontier team gets back together and travels to the digital world. There they still struggle to digivolve and end up loosing fights. During one big fight they get rescued by a group of digidestin that got their partner digimon from when they saw lucemon(new group has digimon like in adventure). They work together to beat the big bad kind of story
Funny enough, the beat Digimon movie after the digimovie is probably Summerwars, I'm totally in for the idea of a new show with kids from all around the world... A more realistic approach... Still what could be the threat these kids will face?
Here is my top 10 list for the next Digimon anime: 1. The main cast being at least 14 years old that will give an opportunity to tell little more mature storyline. 2. Like you said a true human antagonist for the final villain, and it could be a DigiDestined turn bad route. 3. Definitely more than 2 female protagonists in the main cast, and this could be an opportunity for some love drama storyline (something like Macross love triangle storyline, only if they have the courage). 4. They should definitely create a brand new storyline without connection to the past once, aside from easter eggs. 5. They should include Seven Great Demon Lords, and the consequences of destroying them by DigiDestined that would put the entire digiworld, and normal world in danger. 6. The main protagonist should become a half human/digimon hybrid at the beginning of the storyline for more darker storytelling. This is a big one, because the protagonist could have a chance to fully understand not only Human, but Digimon perspective as well, and he would evolve even further in power level scales as the story would continue from stage Rookie up to Ultra. I am suggesting this because this concept played well in Digimon Season 3, and Digimon Season 4 anime, and on top of it there is a game series Shin Megami Tensei that also succeed with this concept in Demi Fiend (human demon fusion) from Shin Megami Tensei 3 game, and Nahobino (true god fusion with human mind, and demon powers). Digimon Cyber Sleuth game was entirely inspired by this franchise, and we have there a protagonist that is a fusion of human consciousness, and digital avatar that gives him some awesome powers (Persona games series is a spin off this game series as well). 7. They should decide early on in the series, if they want to focus primarily on digital world. 8. They should give the protagonists VR google so the can see/interact with Digimon in the real world. 9. Few key characters like protagonist parents, and friends should die by the hand of corrupted DigiDestined for more drama. 10. The show should have a tragic ending were the main protagonist dies as sacrifice to keep both human, and digital world save (with a post credit scene at the end where we see him reincarnating into a digimon form a egg). There are few controversial points here, but Digimon were always more mature then Pokemon, so this gives more room to tell little more serious teenage storylines.
All of these points are excellent, especially no Adventure continuation/remake. It’s been said many times but, Digimon is much, MUCH more than Adventure. I would love the next anime to have the same *formula* of Adventure and Tamers but integrated with the modern tech/culture and social anxieties of today. I feel where Frontier, Xros Wars and Ghost Game get it wrong is that they do things *too* differently and alienate fans wanting that core experience, but in a new package - if that makes sense. Basically, have a new group of kids and their Digimon (as well as young adults/adults/parents who also have Digimon to give guidance) journey in both the Digital World and Human World to stop whatever evil wanting to destroy both - an evil Digimon, a evil human, etc. New and classic Digimon, awesome evolutions with new ones for the classic Mons, and poignant character development.
Going off the Muliti-Generation digidestined concept, I would like to see a setting where Digimon and Humans are walking side by side as a society with real world problems and implications Depending on how far you want to go in this generation you can start off the series with the next generation where patterning with digimon has become a norm but only if you have certain specifications; like not everyone can form a bond between a digimon due to certain reasons, like not establishing a connection that you have because of something you lack. I almost would like to go down a Digimon Savers route combined with how Digimon Adventure's story was going with how humans and digimon have pretty much integrated into society. If I had to summarize where I'm going with this, think Soul Eater's setting of a weapon's meister academy but with digimon and have the next generation of digidestined learning what it means to be with a digimon and what they can do with their partners; they don't have to be world savers but they can prepare for how they can utilized their parternship with digimon for the betterment of the world.
I would say that anime adaptations of certain games or manga could be good idea. Digimon Survive as anime is perfect, Digimon Liberator would be awesome as anime, even anime adaptations of Digimon V-Tamer or Digimon Next could be good. Digimon Next anime could be some sort of Digimon Savers reboot, and Digimon Xros wars manga as anime would be even better than Xros wars anime we have.
Survive is the "adult" anime story we should have gotten. I thought we were going to get more animated cutscenes like that gorgeous opening. I want the scene with cocomon animated. Trauma.
@@MegaGigaPetarD Yeah, I'm still proofreading my series bible for that adaptation. It'd go up to 19 episodes, depending on the number of fights and obstacles, as well as balancing the campers' backstories with the main story plot. Haven't published anything about it yet but hopefully will soon. Plus, you'd need to find the right English dub cast as the game kept the original Japanese VA's and never did any alternate dubs!
If they plan on making yet another remake, I hope they at least bring back Digimon Tamers, that show in my opinion was just as popular and well known as the Adventure series.

Same here. Still in the concept stage for Digimon Tamers Season 2 fanfiction text story series. Some elements involve Jeri getting a new Digimon partner she can digivolve to replace Leomon but still have her take care of Calumon, Impmon and Lopmon's full digivolution lines explored, the mystery of Alice McCoy being solved, flashbacks to Rika's life before she joined the core team of tamers, Kazu, Jeri and even Suzie gaining the ability to biomerge with their partners, romantic subplots (Takato with Jeri, Rika with Henry, Ryo in a star-crossed romance with Alice, and Kenta with Jeri's friend Mika), most of the main cast would be 13 years old now, with Rika, Ryo and Alice being the oldest at 14 (as the season would begin one year after the events of "Runaway Locomon"), a new group of enemy Digimon in similar fashion to the Dark Masters and Myotismon's army, we learn what happened to Rika's dad following the divorce, and etc.
This may be fanfiction-y, but I would like to see how old tech effects the Digital World/Digimon. If you had on vintage Portable tv/radio combo player act as some sort of holy relic to the inhabitants of the digital world, could the gang come across a functional IBM machine that uses Magnetic tape & it would take them to a prehistoric part of the digital world on a isolated server?
Another thing I would like to see in a new season is not just using new Digimon for the partners. I understand that part of the purpose of the anime is to advertise the new Digimon V-Pets, games or TCG, but I'd also love to see some of the less popular Digimon from older generations get a bit of a spotlight
Considering that there have been some online stories that integrated the modern Digimon card game I think it would be interesting if a new anime series was either set in the same continuity or also had elements of the card game for cross Brand synergy
I do have an idea. I had posted it on reddit awhile back, but it's really dark. Here's my idea for anime: I has been thinking that Yggdrasil will effect everyone with a virus that turns them into digimon, but some of people aren't effect by it and have an antibody to immune to it. I am thinking the main character has become a digimon and his partner who's his character that he has crushed. I think the digital evolution will be focus on relationship. I thought it would be a cool idea.
Oh my gosh yeah all of this. Not to bring up the classic comparison, but so much of this is what I like about Pokemon Horizons right now. It feels like kids being guided by zillenials. Gives older sibling or young parent vibes. With the primary character being a girl, it also forces her to be being "the girl". I want don't want a darker direction, I want a new kind of adventure with a new cast, with new ways they relate to our world. Our relationship with technology is so different today, and I'd love for them to depict that more like ghost game played with
i think it would be funny if the future digidestins got pulled into the digital world because they were hailed as heroes of online gaming. for example if they were a champion fps player and they got sucked in to lead the digital war. high stakes battle and responsiblity over a HUGE misunderstanding.
An idea about digi evolution, as a limitation perhaps digimon need data from devices in order to digivolve, if they are in a vibrant city with many devices they can evolve quickly and even skip evolutions but if they are in a forest with only their tamers phone to draw data from the evolution is slow and they can't skip with each evolution taking more time to evolve.
I think Adventure kinda explained evolution limits simply by energy, we'd ser how they would get tired and hungry after digivolving. Going to earlier evolutions likely spent less energy, so they would avoid unnecessarily wasting energy on greater evolutions.
I’ve always thought that the franchise as a whole would be so much more popular if the battles were as intense as some of the digimon designs, usually the fights are just a one attack from each side and done but imagine them upscaled 😵💫😵💫
I honestly think the reason there's no new digimon anime is because of that thousouchu great mission thing, when that show was announced the animation crew said that the show was made to fill digimon time slot on Japanese tv and to this day the series shows no sign of finishing the story with almost 90+ episode
An idea i have heard suggested would be for one of main characters to be a half human and half digimon hybrid. Four ways this could happen that I've heard is: 1. Digimon parent, how this happens is up to the story writer. 2. Human scientist experimenting with human DNA and digimon code. 3. An injured human infant or child ends up in the digital world and is found by a digimon who could only heal them by altering/combining human and digimon dna. 4. A sequel to tamers or frontier about the children of the original team of each show where due to turning into digimon permanently altered their DNA and gave their children certain digimon traits, how this would work depends on the writer. These are 4 ideas I have heard over the years for possible story ideas for games or shows.
International tamers is something I have been sorely craving in Digimon, which Liberator has been satisfying and then some. I get that the easier (and lazier) route is to focus on Japan, but like you said, data goes all over the world and I want that in the cast too, also multiple girls, that is a must. Oh and the main protagonist Digimon should NOT be a reptile, mammal, bug or whatever, but not a reptile. Plus your idea for tech-limited evolution is actually genius.
That cost for evolution system is very interesting. Something like evolution tied to human partner fatigue and mental health. The more powerful evolution would require more energy drained from a human. I’d also add a rule that a child cannot evolve its partner Digimon over a certain level.. The more you grow the more powerful evolution will be available to you. But I can see that this system may be an overkill.
Lets hope that the increase in the digimon anime staff along with the announcement on jan 5/6th 2025 is actual does good for the franchise unlike what we been getting.
My thoughts after watching this video: I would LOVE more adult/elder human partners in media. I enjoyed how it was utilized in Digimon Survive and I want more. Thinking about part three, I think Adv 2020 had some clever moments where the digimon didn't need to evolve to their ultimate/mega form. Examples include Takeru using Pegasmon as a more convenient way to get around, or sticking to Metalgreymon to use it's trident arm to help pull eldoradimon. Strong agree with part 4, having two girls means the writers need to differentiate their personalities and make them more unique imo. I haven't watched applimon so I can't judge on having a human antagonist there, but I am open having more of them in the series. But my opinion about the lack of a human antagonist in adv 2020 differs. I liked that it wasn't an individual person but humanity's collective negativity that caused all the problems that happened in the series. To focus on how humanity collectively affected the digital world, both good and bad. And for part 6, as much as I am curious what a rebooted season 2 might look like I'd rather have an entirely new series of digidestined.
A limited cast of core characters, branching out into more diverse ones sounds like a good idea too. Much as it DID eventually grow awful for other reason, Data Squad started out well enough by giving us a trio like Tamers. It was just that it folded out the core cast too soon, and gave them little reason to interact, amongst other problems that season had. Meanwhile, Tamers gave us each one, had them run into each other early, and had their interactions play into them. Heck, Rika's secondary cast didn't come until the 25% mark of the series, and Henry really only had his dad, which helped to keep from the cast bloat that affected Data Squad, and is a regular problem with this franchise. Makes sense when the first series was its most successful and had an 14, grown to 16 core cast, forgetting that some of the reason that worked was by isolating them at first, meaning they were the only cast we had to focus on. Interestingly, Ys the game series has that same problem, with 8 being the best thanks to an isolated location, but trying with a similar cast in non-isolated causes bloat and slow pacing. For my own money, I'll also say I want some more exploration OF the digimon themselves. Tamers was, to me, the best because there were two digimon who barely interacted with humans, and their desire to wipe out the humans was the Devas motivation for a large part of their appearances. Heck, the core trio even had Renamon, who, outside of her design inspiring a generation of a certain type of people, was interesting because she was only in it for power. There was no friendship there at first. Same with Guilimon in a different way, his 'child' state meant he was learning about himself and the world, and helps to flesh out how digimon grow, which gave the audience something to be curious about ourselves, really making that one stand out as a great story.
Agreed with all of these. In particular I would also like to have a cast connected by the internet. Liberators has been great for that as it's been nice to have a cast that (at least so far) isn't all in close proximity to each other, instead being connected to the Digital World by the game. Something like that in anime form would be interesting to see how the cast deals with that unlike in other series. I also think they need a second girl. Zoe is infamous for how poorly treated she was, even among the non-main/rival characters, and while I like Ruri she did feel the most aimless of the main trio, the fact that we didn't hear about her listlessness for trying to find a hobby in the show until her Mega Evolution episode was headscratching. If they do a duo protagonist role with her all the better because that will ideally force the writers to think of her role as more than just the girl, but rather as someone who's also meant to lead. And finally, yes, either the next series isn't Adventure or they do something with the Epilogue and allows a new cast to take center stage. I think there's only so much left they can do before we reach the Epilogue story-wise anyway, so I think ripping off that band-aid and going in on what the new set of Digi-Destined are doing would be for the best.
To me it like Kaimen rider they need to transform in special mode or specific form in order to get max power then get Final form, so like in Digimon they would have to evolve into the different evolution rank into order for Mega form.
They definitely need to make it a serialized story instead of an episodic one. I like quite a few episodes of Ghost game, but the fact that there was barely any returning villain of the week Digimon or misunderstood Digimon just lowered the stakes a lot. You knew the issue would be resolved within that episode and never be brought up again. Ghost Game had potential to have some cool returning villains, but just never really did it outside of Gulusgammamon. I definitely agree they need to stop going to the Adventure well and do something more original next. Heck as much as it might be a little silly a serialized Ghost Game sequel that actually fleshes out that world more and continues some of the storylines that were left with big loose ends (Cough) the main story (Cough) would be preferable. I do think something new would be better though as I think Ghost Game burned some bridges with the fans that they probably shouldn't try to rebuild. I would also like a much more adult/serious story, but since it's a kids series I'm not expecting them to do that with the anime. They seem to be doing that with the games and supplemental material though, so maybe they'll do that with the anime someday.
Agree with everything, specially point six. I adore Adventure, but let it breath, baby, let it breath for a while. xD Leave it for the 30th anniversary. We'll all be missing Adventure by then. (I'd prefer some huge crossover with all teams on the 30th tho)
Something that might be cool is a team of tamers that form a sort of Computer Crime unit/crime fighters, each with their own digimon partner, who on a semi-episodic basis against human criminal with virus digimon partners. With the story progressing, it turns more into arcs, evolving more and more from small-time hackers and scammers, who are partnering up with rookie digimon, who evolve into champion/adult digimon, with the occasional Ultimate/Perfect digimon for particular nasty or dangerous criminals to eventually organized crime (Bratvas, Mafia, Triads, Yakuza), cyberterrorists and even a few shady government groups, off course partnering with digimon who can digivolve to Ultimate/Perfect digimon and even further to Mega/Ultimate digimon. For example, The D-Brigade and the Crack Team I see being used by government groups trying to keep certain things a secret or try to destablish other countries.
For digimon Gen 10 have the main character have an agumon that where's a garuru pelt like gabumon does and make his mega Omnimon and his other mega susanomon and make the female girl the other main character and give her 🤔 veemon and tarrormon and give her access to both gold eggs and she could be able to fuse them ❤❤
Or give her a patamon and gatomon that way she can have access to the gold eggs and she can give them to the guy main character ❤ and he could use both
For me I think the next series should have: 1.Older cast like 15 2. Use already existing Digimon like Dracomon, Liollmon mine like them who rlly haven’t appeared or be used properly in the anime 3. Keep the cast pretty small like 5 kids & 5 Digimon 4. Tie the dissolution with human energy like the digimon’s power comes from their partner and the longer they’re digivolved or if they’re ultimate mega etc, they take more energy from their partners requiring them to be smart about it. So kinda similar to your ideas

Hm, how very interesting, i hope at least some of these ends up being the case. Personally, i would like to see Episodes that almost solely focuses on the Digimon Partners, that fleshes them out more as their own Characters, ‘cause i feel like the Digimon Anime Shows doesn’t always do that. On top of that, i would like to see a Digimon Anime that gives some already existing Digimon their chance to be Partners, instead of all of them being entirely new Digimon, I want to learn more about some of the Digimon that already exists.
I'm only just getting back into the franchise, but I'm surprised at just how little they uses the concept of a Digital World. It maybe a big departure from the OG Adventure series, but you could go into more of a Sci-fi storylines. I even have to ask, if digital lifeforms are able to entre the human world so easily, wouldn't that imply that the human world is also digital?

- A thing that I wish was explored more was having Dark attribute Digimon as partners. Survive did it and even Ghost Game to an extent since Gulus was his own character. We had traditionally "good" Digimon in pseudo-villainous roles such as the Royal Knight before so I don't see why the opposite couldn't happen. Part of the dynamic could even be about the discrimination the Dark Digimon faces or how it would control its instincts;
- Also a female protagonist could also have potential since by default she wouldn't just be the girl of the group and would be required to have more depth and that (maybe but my hopes wouldn't be high) could be enough to only need one female character;
- Not the main character but it would be nice if just like in Liberator there were characters that had existing Digimon but with new lines. Digimon has been going on for so long so people do have memories for "A" or "B" Digimon that never had a chance to be on the spotlight before. I would personally love someone part of the main cast having a random old Digimon like Drimogemon or Yanmamon (if you think really hard about it NiseDrimogemon is a dark Digivolution).
Overall I kinda just want that Digimon would break the mold and bring out the unexpected. Have an Agumon digivolve into something like ReptileDramon or a Holy Digimon be the de-facto "bad guy", maybe even play a little with the past series' gimmicks and have a Rhinomon that is a Digi-Egg of Miracles evolution.

Easy answer for why stick to Champion is the same for the Super Saiyan argument. Higher forms cost more energy, you wouldn't need to throw out WarGreymon for a rematch with Shellmon.

They should add more tactical Fights with changing Forms. A too big Attack to evade? Return to Rookie to dodge it. A Perfect Level can Pierce trough Digizoid but Champion or even Ultimate cant? Change to Perfect Level. You want to cross a Mountain or Sea? If one of the Digimon Levels can Swim or fly use them. The Target is too far away? But your Digimon is a Brawler? Change to a Level that has Guns or Projectiles. Something along this Way.
I think what would help is having important people in the real world know and interact with the digital world/monsters. Closest we got was season 3 but makes no sense the government hasn't been more involved.

I really like your idea of limiting the digivoultions to the state of the hardware of the digivice. It would open up a lot potential to add stakes to combat scenarios when digivices need time to literally cooldown. It would also mechanically make use of rookie and baby forms since they would provide shorter cooldown times.
In all honesty if we returned anything I would love to see a fully done show on the original five digidestined, with Diago as the leader. A fully done version of that lore.

With Sovereign lore and all. Also if we get this and actually have them interact with the main 8 Digidestined then we will get our multi generational Digidestined. Also a crazy thought is that if they give us the original 5 in the adventure 2020 timeline that puts them in the 1990's which would be hilarious and crazy that in the new timeline the original 5 takes place in the same decade as the original 8.
you went over my head....all i know is tri and certain digimon series...i haven't yet fully watched the last digimon with tai and augumon because i don't i am ready to accept whatever the ending is (don't ruin it for me)....but yea i don't want them to go wild with it...keep it simple here the group that came before the tai and matt but failed that were mentioned in digimon 1 season when they returned back to the island (still think LOST took digimon 1 who premise for their show but i digress lol)....i guess that was the adults in the digimon tri series ....it going to be sad tragic and fully of tears at the end but i want all of it ....don't hold back for the kids ...let it be sad and every part and after the ending credits ...then play the scene where tai and kairi first meet augumon.....(oh i crying i got to rewatch digimon 1 and the movie )
So something that could check all your boxes is if the Digimon anime took inspiration from shows like Kamen Rider Geats. It's a tournament style show that will pull "random" people to compete in various missions to fight the monsters, and the winner at the end gets to have their wish fulfilled; there's downtime between missions where people go back to regular life or hangout in what is essentially the lobby, power ups are locked behind clearing mission/secret objectives that aren't a get once and keep forever but instead have to be found and passed between users, it's a competition so that human villain element is there, and even if you don't win, you could return as a challenger in the next tournament so you could have multi-generational characters.
The other route that's kinda similar is to go the route of Megaman NT Warrior series. Humans have Digimon avatars that they bond with and then enter the Digimon into machines or the net to fight enemies. So basically, combine Our War Games and Tamers or go closer to Frontier where they become the Digimon and share the body whenever that have to (using Megaman terminology) jack in.
Personally, I am of 2 thoughts for the next Digimon anime.
1. If the cast is large (6+ at start) then make it be an online game premise. Allow for a global cast and make them separate stories before the core cast unites. Example would be to have people competing initially within the Digimon Families to be the representative of the Nature Spirits, Deep Savers, etc. Then once all the reps have been appointed the next stage is a battle royal knockout tournament on a new arena. Here is where the core cast really meet each other, learn the truth that this isn't a game but the Digital World and humans are piting Digimon against each other for sport as they invaded the Digital World (it's why some Digimon appeared as enemies in the first arc as they opposed interacting with humans, viewing them as soldiers). Reveal each Digimon partner had different motivations going in: one didn't know at all, one was interested in power, one's people had misconstrued it to be a thing of glory, one just had curiosity about humans, one entered to get close to the humans responsible by winning through the ranks, one knew and was going to use the wish to end the fighting, one was forced to enter against their will, another entered completely by accident and couldn't leave, one was captured as a DigiEgg so they were raised for this, and whatever other reasons can be thought of to be unique. Turn the battle royale final 8 into going after the group hosting the tourney, especially if you reveal that the current arena for it was actually like the home of Digimon that got wiped out just to construct it. Have your main villain escape and the server that hosted the game goes down, cutting off access for our human cast, but the Digivice of the season allows them to enter the Digital World. Make the final season be exploring the Digital World that's in disarray as the actions of humans created a power vacuum and a new order that just vanished, so our cast has to solve problems while hunting down the villain who escaped as they haven't stopped what allowed them to be successful in their first conquest of the Digital World.
2. If the cast is small (3-5) then give the human 2 Digimon partners and make it set solely in the Digital World with heavy emphasis on lore. I've really wanted there to be an anime that focused on Legend-Arms and because Digimon won't do children running around with weapons, a Digimon partner with Legend-Arms partner works just fine. It'd allow for more exploration of character dynamics, allows for new lore to made, excuse for more Legend-Arms than the 2 lines we have + Spadamon, and new Digimon to get focus as they'll be centered around the weapon the best use to fight. The plot would probably be either very exploration into mythos focused and going into ruins or dungeons to find the Legend-Arms; or the could just straight up copy the Holy Grail Wars from the Fate/ series. Their could be some Digimon with a Legend-Arm but no human, either evil Digimon that subjugated the Legend-Arm or an anti-hero Digimon (who'd naturally be Champion/Adult or Ultimate/Perfect level) that capable of synchronizing with the Legend-Arm without the human acting as the mediator. It can really go in so many directions, but you also have RagnaLoardmon right there to be your Omnimon end game equivalent. Plus, I feel it'd challenge them to be more creative in scripting combat as you can't just humanoid every partner Digimon at the beginning, so how do the beastial, avian, aquatic, insectoid, and amorphous Digimon use these weapons. Hopefully, some killer designs come from trying to meet this challenge

Have you seen Bakugan Battle Brawlers because it’s first series did that one point you mentioned of having the cast be in different places, a little bit at least? Two of the characters were from different countries and they video chat with each other until the whole team came together.
Honestly, at this point I really just want V-Tamer 01 or Liberator Anime.
For a new show though, I would love for it to stay a bit more classical, just some people (should be a bit older, like 16 to 21 I think) getting dragged into the digital world, having cool battles trying to find a way back and then it all becomes a world threatening thing.
The way I see it: all 9 of the “goggle-head” protagonists are all guys. In extension to your “at least two girls on the team” rule, I would also love to see a GIRL take that kind of roll on instead. It’d be a very interesting and cool dynamic shift, see someone female going through similar motions as Tai, Davis, Takato, Takuya, and so-on.
They tried something like that with Ruli from ghost game-except, she wasnt the main protagonist, so she got less focus (moreso because of GG’s episodic nature), and as stated in the video, her character was sometimes reduced to “girl.”
Same problem I have with YGO actually. We need more strong lady protags.

Funny you should mention multigenerational Digidestined, that’s a concept I’ve thought of for a Digimon fanfic series of my own, taking place in an entirely new series outside of the “Digimon Adventure” lore.
At least with Adventure it made sense everyone was from the same area, they were chosen because they witnessed the Greymon vs Parrotmon battle, maybe not the best chosen one decision method but it worked. Though only Data Squad has similarly strong reasons with it being an organization rather than a chosen one storyline.

While I do agree that it's best to have more than one girl in the core cast, I don't think it's fair to boil down Ruli as just "the girl". She was arguably more of a leader than Hiro, who isn't as assertive as her. She was often the one who pursued the mysteries instead of just waiting for them to just happen to her. For example, the Gigasmon episode happened because she dragged the rest of the gang to explore the caves because of rumors she heard. Also I would argue ghost game had more than one girl, the second one being Jellymon
I want a more sophisticated storytelling, something that appeals to older fans, and explores the lore of the Digital World in depth. Preferably, a multi-season series that gets more consequential with each season.
One thing I'm loving about digimon liberator, especially the novels, is how we have some older people with partner digimon, and their partners are even adult level Wich I feel is a nice touch.
Considering Digimon is not afraid to reinvent itself, I think a season like Liberator would be cool. Bring us a full on Digimon flavored Yu-Gi-Oh show to pull people into the card game.
After that we REALLY need an 02 continuation to finish off their canon digivolution lines and bring the story back to the 2027 ending. After that they can move on from Adventure...

I would like to see a Darker digimon anime aimed towards older kids like 13 and 18
I want season 10 to be based on the epilogue with the og heroes kids now protecting the digital world with help from their parents now and then.
I would like a digimon series with similar guidelines to the Adventure 01. Digimon will grow tired if they go further, so if a battle can be won with a champion, have the champion do it, not the ultimate. Make them expend more energy. 01 got so many things right, follow those guidelines. Heck, even follow 02 and Tamers. I liked Xros, so maybe do different evolutions. Have 1 kid digivolve/warp digivolve, have another kid armor digivolve, have the next biomerge, while another becomes the spirit. Have one kid Xros. I think that would be cool. Make it episodic, and make the characters go through emotional situations that are relateable. It was always cool when a digidestined went through a problem they were having, over came it and unlocked a new level of digivolution.
These are all interesting ideas for a Digimon series. I hope we get the 10th Digimon anime real soon.
I think that you forgot the most important thing: a serialized story. No making vague gestures towards a larger plot for the first 50 episodes and shoving all of the resolution into the last two. Have a story that advances at least a little bit every episode and characters that go through arcs during that time

Hope this time we have better story and writing like OG series did, new and returning villains, more character development(something missing in previous two anime), real life issues and references. Honestly, we can only hope more when they officially announce the new series.
You make some nice points. I prefer a new anime show set after or near the epilogue of 02 that does not focus on the children of the Adventure and 02 casts. They could incorporate the settings, characters, and concepts of shows like Tamers/Savers/Ghost Game into the Adventure world with a modern sci-fi edge. They keep trying to start afresh every time with a new setting/rules, but overall, similar characters and, upon failing, simply return to the Adventure saga once again. There is so much lore and narrative surrounding the titular monsters that is never touched upon. I often thought the digivices disappearing and the concept of chosen children vanishing in the ending of 02:The Beginning could lead to a storyline like Tamers where monsters and humans willingly choose partnerships and try to coexist with threats looming and organisations taking active part.

I have a few wants for 10th Digimon is. 1: Every five episodes is made for a pacific DigiDestined, 2: having the team have a few arguments from time to time to show how to get used to one another, 3: I do agree with you that I think you have more than just one girl I personally would like to have three instead of two, 4: having the limit Digievolution be connected to the strength of a DigiDestined, to show how much strain the DigiDestined is putting into the evolution, and 5: having the main human villain, for the first arc working with the main film, Digimon of the first arc, I just thought that would be interesting and maybe hint towards cracks within the enemy team.
A Kashi/All-Might type role filled by a veteran tamer and their digimon would be so cool in a Digimon show. Like, it gives the young characters an example of what they could become and it could work as a gutwrenching loss if it takes a more serious route.

An idea I've had is a continuation of the frontier series(kind of). Takes place when they are early 20s. After the rebuild of the digital world some of the human world got mixed in a nd digimon start appearing in the human world(kind of like they did in tamers). When takuya tries to digivolve into ancient greymon for some reason he's only able to digivolve unto agunimon. He's struggles to beat a champion lvl digimon. Eventually the old frontier team gets back together and travels to the digital world. There they still struggle to digivolve and end up loosing fights. During one big fight they get rescued by a group of digidestin that got their partner digimon from when they saw lucemon(new group has digimon like in adventure). They work together to beat the big bad kind of story
Funny enough, the beat Digimon movie after the digimovie is probably Summerwars, I'm totally in for the idea of a new show with kids from all around the world... A more realistic approach... Still what could be the threat these kids will face?
Here is my top 10 list for the next Digimon anime:
1. The main cast being at least 14 years old that will give an opportunity to tell little more mature storyline.
2. Like you said a true human antagonist for the final villain, and it could be a DigiDestined turn bad route.
3. Definitely more than 2 female protagonists in the main cast, and this could be an opportunity for some love drama storyline (something like Macross love triangle storyline, only if they have the courage).
4. They should definitely create a brand new storyline without connection to the past once, aside from easter eggs.
5. They should include Seven Great Demon Lords, and the consequences of destroying them by DigiDestined that would put the entire digiworld, and normal world in danger.
6. The main protagonist should become a half human/digimon hybrid at the beginning of the storyline for more darker storytelling. This is a big one, because the protagonist could have a chance to fully understand not only Human, but Digimon perspective as well, and he would evolve even further in power level scales as the story would continue from stage Rookie up to Ultra. I am suggesting this because this concept played well in Digimon Season 3, and Digimon Season 4 anime, and on top of it there is a game series Shin Megami Tensei that also succeed with this concept in Demi Fiend (human demon fusion) from Shin Megami Tensei 3 game, and Nahobino (true god fusion with human mind, and demon powers). Digimon Cyber Sleuth game was entirely inspired by this franchise, and we have there a protagonist that is a fusion of human consciousness, and digital avatar that gives him some awesome powers (Persona games series is a spin off this game series as well).
7. They should decide early on in the series, if they want to focus primarily on digital world.
8. They should give the protagonists VR google so the can see/interact with Digimon in the real world.
9. Few key characters like protagonist parents, and friends should die by the hand of corrupted DigiDestined for more drama.
10. The show should have a tragic ending were the main protagonist dies as sacrifice to keep both human, and digital world save (with a post credit scene at the end where we see him reincarnating into a digimon form a egg).
There are few controversial points here, but Digimon were always more mature then Pokemon, so this gives more room to tell little more serious teenage storylines.
All of these points are excellent, especially no Adventure continuation/remake. It’s been said many times but, Digimon is much, MUCH more than Adventure.
I would love the next anime to have the same *formula* of Adventure and Tamers but integrated with the modern tech/culture and social anxieties of today. I feel where Frontier, Xros Wars and Ghost Game get it wrong is that they do things *too* differently and alienate fans wanting that core experience, but in a new package - if that makes sense.
Basically, have a new group of kids and their Digimon (as well as young adults/adults/parents who also have Digimon to give guidance) journey in both the Digital World and Human World to stop whatever evil wanting to destroy both - an evil Digimon, a evil human, etc. New and classic Digimon, awesome evolutions with new ones for the classic Mons, and poignant character development.
I'd like to see multiple partners for the tamers, but in a natural way not forced. With multiple pathways for digivolution in the series.

Going off the Muliti-Generation digidestined concept, I would like to see a setting where Digimon and Humans are walking side by side as a society with real world problems and implications Depending on how far you want to go in this generation you can start off the series with the next generation where patterning with digimon has become a norm but only if you have certain specifications; like not everyone can form a bond between a digimon due to certain reasons, like not establishing a connection that you have because of something you lack. I almost would like to go down a Digimon Savers route combined with how Digimon Adventure's story was going with how humans and digimon have pretty much integrated into society. If I had to summarize where I'm going with this, think Soul Eater's setting of a weapon's meister academy but with digimon and have the next generation of digidestined learning what it means to be with a digimon and what they can do with their partners; they don't have to be world savers but they can prepare for how they can utilized their parternship with digimon for the betterment of the world.
I would say that anime adaptations of certain games or manga could be good idea.
Digimon Survive as anime is perfect, Digimon Liberator would be awesome as anime, even anime adaptations of Digimon V-Tamer or Digimon Next could be good.
Digimon Next anime could be some sort of Digimon Savers reboot, and Digimon Xros wars manga as anime would be even better than Xros wars anime we have.
Survive is the "adult" anime story we should have gotten. I thought we were going to get more animated cutscenes like that gorgeous opening.

It'd go up to 19 episodes, depending on the number of fights and obstacles, as well as balancing the campers' backstories with the main story plot. Haven't published anything about it yet but hopefully will soon. Plus, you'd need to find the right English dub cast as the game kept the original Japanese VA's and never did any alternate dubs!
If they plan on making yet another remake, I hope they at least bring back Digimon Tamers, that show in my opinion was just as popular and well known as the Adventure series.

Same here. Still in the concept stage for Digimon Tamers Season 2 fanfiction text story series. Some elements involve Jeri getting a new Digimon partner she can digivolve to replace Leomon but still have her take care of Calumon, Impmon and Lopmon's full digivolution lines explored, the mystery of Alice McCoy being solved, flashbacks to Rika's life before she joined the core team of tamers, Kazu, Jeri and even Suzie gaining the ability to biomerge with their partners, romantic subplots (Takato with Jeri, Rika with Henry, Ryo in a star-crossed romance with Alice, and Kenta with Jeri's friend Mika), most of the main cast would be 13 years old now, with Rika, Ryo and Alice being the oldest at 14 (as the season would begin one year after the events of "Runaway Locomon"), a new group of enemy Digimon in similar fashion to the Dark Masters and Myotismon's army, we learn what happened to Rika's dad following the divorce, and etc.
This may be fanfiction-y, but I would like to see how old tech effects the Digital World/Digimon. If you had on vintage Portable tv/radio combo player act as some sort of holy relic to the inhabitants of the digital world, could the gang come across a functional IBM machine that uses Magnetic tape & it would take them to a prehistoric part of the digital world on a isolated server?
Another thing I would like to see in a new season is not just using new Digimon for the partners. I understand that part of the purpose of the anime is to advertise the new Digimon V-Pets, games or TCG, but I'd also love to see some of the less popular Digimon from older generations get a bit of a spotlight
Considering that there have been some online stories that integrated the modern Digimon card game I think it would be interesting if a new anime series was either set in the same continuity or also had elements of the card game for cross Brand synergy

I has been thinking that Yggdrasil will effect everyone with a virus that turns them into digimon, but some of people aren't effect by it and have an antibody to immune to it. I am thinking the main character has become a digimon and his partner who's his character that he has crushed. I think the digital evolution will be focus on relationship. I thought it would be a cool idea.

Here are my choices for the 10 series, branch evolutions, two or more partners digimon and maybe armor or spirit evolution.
Oh my gosh yeah all of this. Not to bring up the classic comparison, but so much of this is what I like about Pokemon Horizons right now. It feels like kids being guided by zillenials. Gives older sibling or young parent vibes. With the primary character being a girl, it also forces her to be being "the girl".
I want don't want a darker direction, I want a new kind of adventure with a new cast, with new ways they relate to our world. Our relationship with technology is so different today, and I'd love for them to depict that more like ghost game played with
i think it would be funny if the future digidestins got pulled into the digital world because they were hailed as heroes of online gaming. for example if they were a champion fps player and they got sucked in to lead the digital war. high stakes battle and responsiblity over a HUGE misunderstanding.

An idea about digi evolution, as a limitation perhaps digimon need data from devices in order to digivolve, if they are in a vibrant city with many devices they can evolve quickly and even skip evolutions but if they are in a forest with only their tamers phone to draw data from the evolution is slow and they can't skip with each evolution taking more time to evolve.

I think Adventure kinda explained evolution limits simply by energy, we'd ser how they would get tired and hungry after digivolving. Going to earlier evolutions likely spent less energy, so they would avoid unnecessarily wasting energy on greater evolutions.
I’ve always thought that the franchise as a whole would be so much more popular if the battles were as intense as some of the digimon designs, usually the fights are just a one attack from each side and done but imagine them upscaled 😵💫😵💫
I honestly think the reason there's no new digimon anime is because of that thousouchu great mission thing, when that show was announced the animation crew said that the show was made to fill digimon time slot on Japanese tv and to this day the series shows no sign of finishing the story with almost 90+ episode
An idea i have heard suggested would be for one of main characters to be a half human and half digimon hybrid. Four ways this could happen that I've heard is: 1. Digimon parent, how this happens is up to the story writer. 2. Human scientist experimenting with human DNA and digimon code. 3. An injured human infant or child ends up in the digital world and is found by a digimon who could only heal them by altering/combining human and digimon dna. 4. A sequel to tamers or frontier about the children of the original team of each show where due to turning into digimon permanently altered their DNA and gave their children certain digimon traits, how this would work depends on the writer. These are 4 ideas I have heard over the years for possible story ideas for games or shows.

International tamers is something I have been sorely craving in Digimon, which Liberator has been satisfying and then some. I get that the easier (and lazier) route is to focus on Japan, but like you said, data goes all over the world and I want that in the cast too, also multiple girls, that is a must. Oh and the main protagonist Digimon should NOT be a reptile, mammal, bug or whatever, but not a reptile.
Plus your idea for tech-limited evolution is actually genius.

That cost for evolution system is very interesting. Something like evolution tied to human partner fatigue and mental health. The more powerful evolution would require more energy drained from a human. I’d also add a rule that a child cannot evolve its partner Digimon over a certain level.. The more you grow the more powerful evolution will be available to you. But I can see that this system may be an overkill.
Lets hope that the increase in the digimon anime staff along with the announcement on jan 5/6th 2025 is actual does good for the franchise unlike what we been getting.

My thoughts after watching this video:
I would LOVE more adult/elder human partners in media. I enjoyed how it was utilized in Digimon Survive and I want more.
Thinking about part three, I think Adv 2020 had some clever moments where the digimon didn't need to evolve to their ultimate/mega form. Examples include Takeru using Pegasmon as a more convenient way to get around, or sticking to Metalgreymon to use it's trident arm to help pull eldoradimon.
Strong agree with part 4, having two girls means the writers need to differentiate their personalities and make them more unique imo.
I haven't watched applimon so I can't judge on having a human antagonist there, but I am open having more of them in the series. But my opinion about the lack of a human antagonist in adv 2020 differs. I liked that it wasn't an individual person but humanity's collective negativity that caused all the problems that happened in the series. To focus on how humanity collectively affected the digital world, both good and bad.
And for part 6, as much as I am curious what a rebooted season 2 might look like I'd rather have an entirely new series of digidestined.
A limited cast of core characters, branching out into more diverse ones sounds like a good idea too. Much as it DID eventually grow awful for other reason, Data Squad started out well enough by giving us a trio like Tamers. It was just that it folded out the core cast too soon, and gave them little reason to interact, amongst other problems that season had.
Meanwhile, Tamers gave us each one, had them run into each other early, and had their interactions play into them. Heck, Rika's secondary cast didn't come until the 25% mark of the series, and Henry really only had his dad, which helped to keep from the cast bloat that affected Data Squad, and is a regular problem with this franchise.
Makes sense when the first series was its most successful and had an 14, grown to 16 core cast, forgetting that some of the reason that worked was by isolating them at first, meaning they were the only cast we had to focus on. Interestingly, Ys the game series has that same problem, with 8 being the best thanks to an isolated location, but trying with a similar cast in non-isolated causes bloat and slow pacing.
For my own money, I'll also say I want some more exploration OF the digimon themselves. Tamers was, to me, the best because there were two digimon who barely interacted with humans, and their desire to wipe out the humans was the Devas motivation for a large part of their appearances. Heck, the core trio even had Renamon, who, outside of her design inspiring a generation of a certain type of people, was interesting because she was only in it for power. There was no friendship there at first.
Same with Guilimon in a different way, his 'child' state meant he was learning about himself and the world, and helps to flesh out how digimon grow, which gave the audience something to be curious about ourselves, really making that one stand out as a great story.

In particular I would also like to have a cast connected by the internet. Liberators has been great for that as it's been nice to have a cast that (at least so far) isn't all in close proximity to each other, instead being connected to the Digital World by the game. Something like that in anime form would be interesting to see how the cast deals with that unlike in other series.
I also think they need a second girl. Zoe is infamous for how poorly treated she was, even among the non-main/rival characters, and while I like Ruri she did feel the most aimless of the main trio, the fact that we didn't hear about her listlessness for trying to find a hobby in the show until her Mega Evolution episode was headscratching. If they do a duo protagonist role with her all the better because that will ideally force the writers to think of her role as more than just the girl, but rather as someone who's also meant to lead.
And finally, yes, either the next series isn't Adventure or they do something with the Epilogue and allows a new cast to take center stage. I think there's only so much left they can do before we reach the Epilogue story-wise anyway, so I think ripping off that band-aid and going in on what the new set of Digi-Destined are doing would be for the best.
The protagonist should be a lot older, maybe 16 or 17. That way, we can get better fights .
To me it like Kaimen rider they need to transform in special mode or specific form in order to get max power then get Final form, so like in Digimon they would have to evolve into the different evolution rank into order for Mega form.
They definitely need to make it a serialized story instead of an episodic one. I like quite a few episodes of Ghost game, but the fact that there was barely any returning villain of the week Digimon or misunderstood Digimon just lowered the stakes a lot. You knew the issue would be resolved within that episode and never be brought up again. Ghost Game had potential to have some cool returning villains, but just never really did it outside of Gulusgammamon.
I definitely agree they need to stop going to the Adventure well and do something more original next. Heck as much as it might be a little silly a serialized Ghost Game sequel that actually fleshes out that world more and continues some of the storylines that were left with big loose ends (Cough) the main story (Cough) would be preferable. I do think something new would be better though as I think Ghost Game burned some bridges with the fans that they probably shouldn't try to rebuild.
I would also like a much more adult/serious story, but since it's a kids series I'm not expecting them to do that with the anime. They seem to be doing that with the games and supplemental material though, so maybe they'll do that with the anime someday.
Agree with everything, specially point six. I adore Adventure, but let it breath, baby, let it breath for a while. xD Leave it for the 30th anniversary. We'll all be missing Adventure by then.

Something that might be cool is a team of tamers that form a sort of Computer Crime unit/crime fighters, each with their own digimon partner, who on a semi-episodic basis against human criminal with virus digimon partners. With the story progressing, it turns more into arcs, evolving more and more from small-time hackers and scammers, who are partnering up with rookie digimon, who evolve into champion/adult digimon, with the occasional Ultimate/Perfect digimon for particular nasty or dangerous criminals to eventually organized crime (Bratvas, Mafia, Triads, Yakuza), cyberterrorists and even a few shady government groups, off course partnering with digimon who can digivolve to Ultimate/Perfect digimon and even further to Mega/Ultimate digimon. For example, The D-Brigade and the Crack Team I see being used by government groups trying to keep certain things a secret or try to destablish other countries.
For digimon Gen 10 have the main character have an agumon that where's a garuru pelt like gabumon does and make his mega Omnimon and his other mega susanomon and make the female girl the other main character and give her 🤔 veemon and tarrormon and give her access to both gold eggs and she could be able to fuse them ❤❤
Or give her a patamon and gatomon that way she can have access to the gold eggs and she can give them to the guy main character ❤ and he could use both
For me I think the next series should have:
1.Older cast like 15
2. Use already existing Digimon like Dracomon, Liollmon mine like them who rlly haven’t appeared or be used properly in the anime
3. Keep the cast pretty small like 5 kids & 5 Digimon
4. Tie the dissolution with human energy like the digimon’s power comes from their partner and the longer they’re digivolved or if they’re ultimate mega etc, they take more energy from their partners requiring them to be smart about it.

Dr. Kurrata is one of my favorite Digimon villains not only because he’s a human villain, but he’s just the most despicable kind of evil genocidal asshole who caused most of the problems with his hatred

Turning all digimon 01 protagonists into evil and fighting 02 with a rescue plot since this series not meant for child anymore. Some or most married already

Personally, i would like to see Episodes that almost solely focuses on the Digimon Partners, that fleshes them out more as their own Characters, ‘cause i feel like the Digimon Anime Shows doesn’t always do that.
On top of that, i would like to see a Digimon Anime that gives some already existing Digimon their chance to be Partners, instead of all of them being entirely new Digimon, I want to learn more about some of the Digimon that already exists.
for the generational they could use the same themes from the tri movies and last evolution as to why the previous generation aren't tamers anymore.
I'm only just getting back into the franchise, but I'm surprised at just how little they uses the concept of a Digital World. It maybe a big departure from the OG Adventure series, but you could go into more of a Sci-fi storylines. I even have to ask, if digital lifeforms are able to entre the human world so easily, wouldn't that imply that the human world is also digital?
