In Racial Justice Victory, Johnson & Johnson to Pay $2B to Women in Asbestos-Laced Baby Powder Suit

- Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay $2.1 billion to a group of women who developed ovarian cancer after using talcum powder contaminated with asbestos. Johnson & Johnson heavily marketed the powder to African American women despite warnings that the products could cause cancer. Six of the plaintiffs in the Johnson & Johnson case died before the trial started. Five more of the women have died since 2018. We get response from M. Isabelle Chaudry, senior policy manager at the National Women’s Health Network, who says the company must ban the products globally and do more to address the harm it has caused, particularly to communities of color. “They have a history of engaging in racist practices,” she says.

Per the interview, J&J is allowed to continue selling the current inventory that retailers have already purchased. They will no longer sell new inventory once the current product is sold out.
Then don't buy it... No one is pointing a gun at the individual demanding them to use the products.

Im in Australia and my mother used this talc on my brother and I and I also used it on my two sons. as did my sons. So thats 4 generations of people used this stuff. My mother died of cancer nearly 10 years ago. We were never told that any J&J products were unsafe and still now not much has been said about it.
Atleast in America people are suing this company. Meanwhile in developing countries like India they still market their products greatly even after some people have stated their products are toxic :/ neither the overall customers care to do something or say something nor does the government bother to regulate them.. in my opinion, the whole brand deserves to be removed off the face of the earth..
2B isn't nothing compared to what they made off this product. They need to create a clear cut law if your company practice in harmful marketing and distribution of products your complete board will serve 25 years in prison because we all know this was premeditated marketing and distribution for increase products. Here in Denmark I recently bought a J&J baby powder. Underdeveloped country? Scandanavia? I think not. 🤬 They still sell in our local shop.
Despicable, and it’s outrageous that a company is allowed to continue to sell based on their own choice - it should be a government-mandated recall, but I’m guessing that either the law in the US doesn’t allow for that or the lawmakers don’t care enough (or both)!

India is a huge buyer of Canadian Asbestos...it is cheap and versatile and that it also kills doesn't seem to matter to many.

I would venture to say that this type of heinous behavior would only happen in the United States. The fact that they are able to use up their inventory and the fact that they are able to still send it to other countries. This is capitalism at its worst. Ban J & J for manipulating peoples trust in their company. I seriously hope they go out of business and worse.

How about the people in Africa, my mum used it on all of us as babies, my big sister has had complications now coz she's 45, will ask her to do test but who will compensate her us in Zambia? Only Americans are compensated how about Africans
Find a pro Bono lawyer. Basically your ability to get compensation depends on your ability to work the legal system. And you can find a good lawyer who does volunteer cases.
My husband is from Ghana. He uses these powder every day.
He pays money and is harming himself.
All his family uses it. All babies in the family are powdered from the first day on the planet.

My husband left me for another after woman 1 yr month of marriage, i was heart broken , didn't even have anything to care for our little ones and that's why i will never wish any woman to face the torture and humiliations i faced three months back when my husband treated me like a maid,fool, and just like house wife, he never showed me any drop of love apart from insulting me in his friends' presence .I remember one night my best friend called and informed me how my husband was in a bar spending lots of money on alcohol with his new girl friend. On that same day he gave an engagement Ring to her because it was her birthday.I cried and wanted to leave him that day but didn't want to lose him because i loved him so much and besides he meant everything to me since we were in a foreign country and he was the only one i knew and trusted. he never allowed me to go anywhere or make friends so he was all i had.He came back in the morning and called me all sorts of names with insults and ordered me to leave his house.He could always leave me in the house alone with the kids, sometimes with no food and went out to have fan with his girl friend. I was just like a maid to him the only difference i wasn't paid. Was very unhappy with him until my best friend connected me to Mama ANNA who casted a very strong spell on him and after 16 hours of casting the spell my husband apologized for all the pain he caused to me and broke up with the stupid girlfriend who could only advise him to go to bars/parks and drink. Am really grateful and indeed my story is worth sharing such that someone out there can also get a chance to be helped in any way possible.
