So many things in the world I dislike at present but this is decidedly not one of them. This makes me proud to be British. What outstanding, quality acting. I was literally transported into the story. I shall be very disappointed if this does not go down in history as 'A Classic'.
What an absolute gem. Why did we not hear more of this excellent series. The production values were exceptional . I hope our appreciation reaches the entire crew who, worked on this perfect drama.
For those who don't know M.T. Martin Clunes: Only recently discovered him; was looking for Arthur & George last Oct. (Thanks). I finally learned I hadn't recognized him because he changed so: He was in various series & Movies including: Rising Damp, Men Behaving Badly, two Doc Martin Movies (I only successfully found one: Dr. Martin & the Clothie... and the Doc Martin series, especially important because of increased awareness... autism spectrum & savants. He's an avid Horseman & Dog Fancier... The reason they put dogs in his series--his were often caught on film, but his weren't used professionally. Reminds of He's involved in various charities including Parkinson, animals, etc.
Pls don't forget Saving Grace and the long running series of Doc Martin. His involvement with the BHS, Showing Shire horses, rescuing horses and donkeys etc etc is well documented. If you meet him, he is a good natured, caring human being with a fantastic sense of humour, a thoroughly decent person. A family man who gets on with life instead of seeking publicity for himself.
I remember seeing him in something, thinking he was fantastic, and then later realizing he was one of the amazing actors in Shakespeare in Love. He is so versatile.
'Arthur And George' (1995) or (2015)?.***** Oh dear!!! Time has caught up with Martin in this movie, as it does with all of us. (Hope he's okay, he looks a little haggerd and worn out... which has carried over into 2024). This film was intense, it kept me on the edge of my chair & Martin Clunes did this movie proud. Wasn't aware that Conan Doyle had so much controversy around him, I wouldn't have blamed him if in the end he had no patience for anyone except his wife & his closest circle of friends. Martin Clunes 4Ever, very good actor with many good movies through the years. ♡☆
I realize this took place in 1903/6 but surely the makers could have made sure we weren't having to strain our eyes to see what the hell was going on. Despite the darkness, I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 parts.
@@xmaseveeve5259 You are lying. This is a real case and it is well documented. Just look up George’s name and you will see the details. He was declared innocent and his legal license was restored.
@christinepage181: The uploader of this channel purposely altered these videos, in an attempt to avoid a UA-cam copyright strike. Whatever device you’re watching on, you might want to increase the brightness and definitely watch at 1.5 speed. If this is not enough of an improvement for you, the same title has been uploaded on many different online platforms. In my area I can find them on Amazon Prime and PBS.
The channel uploader of this videos series has altered the video brightness levels and the playback speed. This can partially be overcome by increasing the brightness settings on whatever device you are using, and on changing the playback speed to 1.25. If those are not enough changes for you, you may want to search online platforms for this video. Availability differs depending upon where in the world you live, but in my area this series can be found on Amazon Prime and PBS.
If the crimes were "supposedly" done by George & he had served his prison sentence, how is it that obviously the killing of horses continued after that? Wouldn't that show George either didn't do it, or he should have been arrested again?
I love Martin Clunes but this is such a slow moving story! I won't give up on it because I'm a Clunatic but I'm not enjoying it as much as I had hoped I would.
Then you may enjoy the book better because this adaptation has changed a few things. One thing different about this is that it is based on a true case in history where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle actually helped this young lawyer be declared innocent and receive his legal license to practice again. Innova was written about this case, and then this series was made based on it, but it is slightly fictionalized.
The channel uploader has altered the original video by darkening it and decreasing the playback speed. This can be partially overcome by increasing the brightness on whatever device you are using to watch, and also increasing the playback speed to 1.25. @catherinekibugi1731 I have been attempting to find more information on this slang euphemistic term. The closest I have found is one source that defines it as a strip search of a prisoner including cavity searches, often done in a rough and abusive manner.
Yes, Portuguese is one of the languages in which subtitles are offered! I will give you instructions how to access them, but these instructions may be slightly different depending upon what device you are using to watch. I’m using my Apple iPhone, so if you are on a non-Apple device or casting to a digital TV, instructions might be different for your device. What works for me is, first I touch the ⚙️ gear icon in the upper right of my screen. (Some people have told me they need to touch the CC (Closed Captioning) box 1st, but that’s not required on my device.) After I touch the gear icon, then I choose Captions, and next I can choose languages. For me it shows English as a first option because that’s the main language of the country where I live. So if I don’t want to see English subtitles, then I need to touch the Auto Translate option. Then it lists 16 other languages, and Portuguese is one of those languages. Just touch your choice and the subtitles will appear in that language. One more thing though- the subtitles are not typed by a human, they are generated by a computer which produces a word based on what it thinks it hears. Often these captions are incorrect, but they still do give me some idea what is happening. I find that having some captions are better than having none at all, so please keep in mind they will not make sense 100% of the time. I hope they are helpful to you! 👋🏽🌅🌞🌻👋🏽🌅🌞🌻👋🏽 Sim, o português é uma das línguas em que as legendas são oferecidas! @@carolinebarnes6832You are correct. I recommend reading the book, and even in the last eight years I believe some new letters have come to light which help confirm the details of this case. You can find more information online just by searching the names.
That may be the part which is a bit more fictionalized, to try and resolve things better than happened in reality. But this series is based on a true case, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle DID help George Edalji be declared innocent, and he Did recover his legal license. You can look up the names and discover more detail.
In what way? Are you referring to the poor quality of this upload? Because this channel owner has decreased the brightness, muddled and slowed down the audio playback speed. You can find some help for this by increasing the brightness on whatever device you are using to watch, and on increasing the playback speed to 1.25 or 1.5, somewhere in that range. If those do not help enough, you may want to look for online platforms where the original series is uploaded in its original condition. Options different depending upon where in the world you live, but in my area these and other good British shows can be found on Amazon Prime, PBS etc.
More like Arthur and Woody. It wld have been better if each episode was a diff story, from beg. to end. This one plot goes on and on. Only Martin C. keeps it going

I quite like the actor who plays Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Michael T : Martin Clunes.
Look him up. He had another series where he played a doc who couldn't stand dogs nor blood, called Doc Martin
What was the strange cutting tool that they were testing on the meat to determine depth of cut?
A fleam or phleam - an instrument used for bloodletting in the days when bleeding was thought to be a medical cure

Oh no George never married?! Sad!

A thorough body search. Think of it as a male rape.
If you do not know, or guess, after what George said, bless you innocent soul!
