    In this episode, you will learn John's honest opinions about the Nama Citrus attachment that was just released. This is information you won't hear from other creators online.
    First John will share how you can juice citrus in the Nama J2 without the Citrus attachment, by simply peeling the oranges, and leaving on as much white pith as you are able.
    Next, John will share published science showing that the white pith contains 17x more antioxidants and 4x more polyphenols than the juice which can have significant health benefits.
    You will learn how John easily peels his citrus with the peel-o-matic machine used to remove the skin of many fruits.
    John will juice the same amount of citrus automatically in the Nama J2 3 Liter hopper and manually with the Nama Citrus Attachment, so you can see how it works and how long it takes to process the same amount of citrus.
    Finally, John will compare the juice yields and taste test each of the juices so you can learn which one tastes better.

    Summary of Episode:
    In the video, the presenter delves into the debate surrounding the Nama Citrus Attachment, advocating for a method that emphasizes extracting nutrients from the white pith of oranges. He contrasts traditional juicing methods with the attachment, highlighting scientific studies indicating higher polyphenol and antioxidant content in juice extracted with the pith. Demonstrating the juicing process, he emphasizes the attachment's ability to maximize nutrition by efficiently extracting from the entire fruit, promoting a frothier, creamier juice with enhanced flavor and health benefits.

    I bought the citrus attachment, and did so for good reason…
    Whenever I’m really sick with a cold (which is rare), my body is craving orange juice. I also like it as a comfort beverage when I’m sick. But I am in no mood to do a proper juice, let alone clean a juicer. I have always wished I had a citrus extractor to quickly make juice and not have to spend any effort cleaning up after. This citrus extractor is beyond perfect. I don’t look forward to ever needing to use it, but I know I will about once a year. And that’s a good enough reason (for me) to have it.

    I’m really happy they came out with a citrus juicer attachment. It was totally unexpected! I’m definitely buying it. I love the idea of just slicing my oranges. I’m not going to peel all the oranges and then throw them in a juicer. I’d then have to clean the juicer afterwards. The citrus juicer attachment makes life easier. Plus I could easily make lemonade or limeade if I wanted to.

      With the Pelamatic Orange Peeler Pro, it took less than 30 seconds to peel each orange. Surely juicing the whole oranges that I show will take LONGER to juice than simply cutting them in half and squeezing out the juice. So if your TIME is more important than NUTRITION, then of course, juice your oranges with the nama citrus attachment. However, if nutrition is more important, as I show in this video, you can get 17x more antioxidants and 4.4x more polyphenols by using the method I show. That being said, nobody has probably ever showed you this before, since most people are happy juicing oranges the normal way they have forever.

    Thanks John I got the C2 last week and just ordered the new large hopper which will be a great upgrade for daily juicing. Update: The large hopper is the bomb! Love it, it's amazing. I also ordered the citrus attachment and don't like it. It clogs with pulp too easily, it takes forever, it's hard on your hands and wrists if you do a lot at one time, and now I see Nama recommends cleaning it out after EACH FRUIT?! yeah that won't take all week if you're doing bulk juicing. I wondered if the manual citrus press juicer would be better and watched your video comparing it with an electric juicer from a few years ago. I was going to order the manual one until I saw your points here on extra polyphenols and nutrition benefits including the pith. So I'm going to return the Nama citrus attachment and rather get the citrus peeler and use the C2. I recommend buying a case of organic lemons at a time from Azure Standard, juicing them all, using an electric jar sealer (learned about this in YOUR VIDEOS!! THANK YOU) and freezing the juice in pint jars. Save a lot of time and money. I'm also dehydrating the peel and grinding it into vitamin c powder. So every part is used.

    I’m glad I got the citrus attachment. Plus you can’t really batch juice oranges with pith because it gels when put in refrigerator. I just threw some out due to the jello like substance. What a turn off.

      The gel is not bad!!! It's good! So when it gels consider yourself lucky!!! The gel is all the pectin fiber solidifying. Pectin fiber is really good for your gut health. Just shake it up if it does solidify, and it will mix back in. In some instances, I eat it separately with a spoon, has a nice neutral flavor.

    Hey there, John. How's it going? I have to say that you are an awesome reviewer of these wonderful juicers and so forth. I have been following your Discount Juicers UA-cam channel for a long time now and you present a lot of great insights. Ever since I was a kid back in the 1990s, I have been juicing a lot of various fruits and vegetables with my dad for a very long time and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Over the years, we have used all kinds of different juicer brands and they were quite a variety. As a longtime juicer myself, I have some great insights that I would like to bring to the table in regards to what I have heard about juicing and so on. Juicing fruits and vegetables of all types has always been a very healthy thing and it's all about taking control of our health to get healthy so that we can live longer. For a very long time now ever since juicing first became popular in the 1970s or so, a lot of us have always been fascinated by the new juicing machines that had promised to transform our lives. However, too many of those juicers that were going to transform lives are now sitting in so many places such as shelves and pantries collecting dust. John, it would be great if you can continue to make new videos like this and you are awesome as always. However, it would also be great if you can start making new videos by sharing your knowledge and commitment to health when it comes to a manner that can inspire all of us to dust off and reclaim our juicers again whether they are old or new. We definitely need to bring juicing back to life as it needs a whole new comeback and resurgence. Otherwise, please keep it up and don't ever stop. Thank you, John.

      Hey John, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I have also seen what you said. I will work on making some content to get people BACK into juicing. I can tell you between the nama and kuvings citrus attachments, there is no comparison, the Nama citrus attachment has a stainless steel strainer, the Kuvings is plastic. Also the Nama J2 is a continuous juicer since the juice comes out the spout, where as the kuvings has a limited capacity since it is caught in a small pitcher. Between the two, I choose the nama attachment, that being said the best is to peel your oranges and other citrus as I show in this episode.

    I’ve juiced grapefruit with the pith, and the juice turns into a jelly when I vacuum seal it and store it in the frig. It’s kinda weird to drink, as it’s like a grapefruit pudding. I wonder if the same will happen with the orange juice, if the pith acts like a thickener?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  2 місяці тому +2

      In citrus pith there is PECTIN, and is a soluble fiber that will GEL up. This can occur with all citrus fruits depending on the specific fruit. To me this is a good thing. When that happens, I eat the juice with a spoon. This is what makes the juice more nutritious IMO. IF you dont want it, dont juice the pith! The pectin will feed your microbiome!

      The study only involved oranges, but I would surmise that All citrus juices would be more nutritious if you also juice the white pith instead of juice squeezing out colored water that is normally done on citrus. That being said, juicing the pith will change the flavor of the juice.

    On what planet does the pith taste “good”. I don’t see how it can enhance the taste of orange juice. Regardless of that, despite the volume and color (2 identical looking oranges can have different yields, color AND flavour), I’d love to see a video of you isolating just the pith of a half dozen oranges and juicing just that. I’d be shocked if you actually got any juice out of it.

      @@witoldyna to each their own, with regard to taste. But this is my point… I think the only way to get any nutrients from the pith, is to eat it, and let your body do the extraction.
      But trying to juice pith?? The saying, “trying to get blood from a stone” seems an appropriate comparison. Although I welcome to be proven wrong with the experiment I mentioned.

      The color difference should have convinced you. It's simple enough to verify on your own. This is a powerful juicer. I get 6-7oz out of a pound of straight greens, which are supposed to have terrible yield on their own.

      Pith certainly doesn’t affect the flavor. I’ve known for years that many of the nutrients are in the pith of ORGANIC citrus. Maybe try to learn something before criticizing the foremost juicer, John Kohler, of the world. Just a thought

    Can you just juice the whole orange including the skin?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  Місяць тому

      You can, but the issue is that the skin color will have hard-core phytonutrients that will be very strong, and in large amounts may not be healthy for us. it may give you gas and or indigestion or stomach upset. For this reason I do not advocate it.

    Watching you juice with that attachment that machine it doesn’t look that strong like the Vitamix blender wattage

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  Місяць тому

      Of course the vitamix is a blender while the Nama J2 is a juicer. I can say the Nama J2 motor is a quality, Korean built motor that has sufficient torque to juice with its attachments. It runs at a slow speed of 50 RPM, vs 20,000+ rpm for the vitamix. I would personally say the Nama J2 is more durable than the Vitamix motor personally. Its just different.

      What are you juicing? Would love to try that. Generally I find that the juice changes flavor very little if I store it under vacuum as I show in the video: ua-cam.com/video/kQI2x5x-DLw/v-deo.html

      Or, zest the orange for great flavor in baking, jello, chocolates, and then juice or blend the rest…

      I did mention in the video that I prefer juicing whole oranges. The accessories video was already too long, so I wanted to have a separate episode for this very important topic, as me just mentioning this is not as beneficial as proving it as I do in this episode.

      You’re not running a restaurant. This juice is for you, so it doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t like how you do it.
