Think you guys have hit on to something with these quick and easy builds. They are really enjoyable - especially the Toyota content. My $0.02: The 18’s give the car a much more compelling presence.
be very careful with that power steering, most E34 need CHF11s not ATF and my steering box actually died because some moron put ATF in there. As for the air pump, if you're not deleteing the cat(s) just keep it. And clean out the cabin air filter box when changing as miy aircon almost didn't blow any air because of all the crap that tends to collect in there. If you need high quality arms and bushing buy Meyle, they're awesome and OEM+ quality.
Mayle is OK, but if you plan to keep it then go Lemförder - they last the best as they're full OE. Do it right, do it once. Do it cheap, do it again. 😉
@@peterjg001 it's like sand blasting but with dry ice, so there is no mess (other than the dirt/other stuff removed from the car) as dry ice goes directly from solid to gas form
Previous owner was a guy who never did maintenance on this vehicle in the +30, years that the car has been around. This is a high performance machine, and that's what cheapskates forget you can expect slop like thay in a Corolla but as with any sharp sports saloon you need to keep these vehicles up to spec.
Turbines all the way. Looks so perfectly mid-90s. Also, makes it look like the E34 from Ronin. Also love the 18" Throwing Stars! The subtle reimagining with the added dish & diameter really makes the design shine on the car!
Jeez man, how good is this car. Beautiful styling, so understated. Looking forward to this one. Peak BMW. Inline 6, ITBs, what more do you need families.
The OEM 17” throwing stars & even the turbines look soooo much better than the fake none staggered pig iron 18” ‘throwing stars’. Looking forward to see this build progress.
Turbines grow on you over time. I’ve had T-stars for 7 years, but decided I love the turbines more so recently got a set. You can also ditch the inner fins which will give more of a dish look, at cost to the supposed cooling ability.
A tip on cleaning the undercarriage would be to LIBERALLY spray a degreaser like Purple Power, let sit for a couple minutes, foam everything, and then rinse off. Can't wait to see what you guys have coming up next!
If you go with the naked turbines get a center emblem. I was able to do it with a caps I found and glued the emblem to them. That would complete the look and make them aggressive yet clean. No center cap at times looks like you’re running on 4 spare wheels. These m-system wheels were my favorite for a long time and I had 4 sets at one point.
I've always loved the look of the M5 stars without the outside silver. They look sooooo cool with the black center and nothing else!! those 17s FTW!! I know BMW designed the stars and the turbines to cool the brakes more efficiently but the black with the silver rim OOoooo. Period.
You should do a collab with Chromatic Garage and have him detail this for you down the road! I'm a firm believer that Speed Academy content is at its best when it's on an old BMW. Can't wait to watch the build unfold.
I read the title of the video and then Pete started saying this was gonna be a quick built then I had to recheck the title of video 😂 man gotta love the bmw’s
I like the turbine setup myself. Don’t forget to check the injectors on the engine they are notorious for going bad by just sitting for a while. Putting poly bushing throughout the suspension really makes a huge difference, might be something to consider.
Pete is so right. The ball joints and bushes, and there are A LOT, go bad and it causes tyre wear, clunks, or bad ride. But they are so expensive, a lot of arms don't have a replacement bush you need to swap the while arm, and they make it so hard to do.
The custom throwing star wheels (the first set) looked awesome! The stance and fitment was on point, imo, but the turbines were the best look. Nice work!
never thought I'd say this in the comment section but I really like that naked look! hahaha seriously though it give the car an added presence and aggressiveness.
If you dont plan to replace the calipers, you should try the Kleen Flo Brake-In spray can. It protects the calipers for rust and refinish them in a nice oem grey.
Open the servopump, remove spring for pressure to the back system. Then plug the hole with a hydrualic bolt. Then you dont have pressure at all from the pump to the back system you have removed. And then you dont have to loop it. I have done this 2-3 times now, EDC/SLS delete. 😀👍
I think I might lose but I have to sat 18's all the wat unless you want a classic feeling car too. The throwing stars are big OEM+ vibe that is my favorite.
Shout out to FCP Euro! I use them for all of my Volvo C30 needs and they've been great - they also have extremely thorough how-to videos; especially for stuff like a P1 chassis timing belt swap!
Dude the wheels!! When I saw the first ones I thought, no way that can look ANY better then the second set went on... I love the both! I spoke too soon! MORE?! :D They all look great. I like the big aggressive set the best though.
I'm gonna try not to go full rabbit hole on this one...famous last words LOL. This is probably the generation of M5 that I like the most, both the body and the engine have that "je ne sais quoi" in my eyes. I would go with the AWC wheels
I think the Turbines look nice, as you said, period correct. I'd go with them.
True
turbines are the biggest W whell out there
the 18" looked KILLER! just roll the rear fender lips but what ever you pick is great (but really the 18's)
the turbines do look classy, but... you can't go wrong with throwing stars
Turbines are so sick. Love the retro sleeper vibe

For F-series cars (F20,F30 etc.) people buy Lemförder M3/M4 (F80) arms, as they're the exact same as original, but with ///M scratched off
@@Oockeshoek Same goes for the E39.
Mayle is OK, but if you plan to keep it then go Lemförder - they last the best as they're full OE.

I love the 18's! Much more presence - OEM clean with a little extra flash.
My favorite builds. Getting older, sporty cars back to better than stock quality, without going too overboard. Great car!
It would be worth considering dry ice blasting the engine bay/underside - I had my engine bay done recently and the results were hugely impressive!
That would be satisfying to watch.
What does it do exactly?
@@peterjg001 it's like sand blasting but with dry ice, so there is no mess (other than the dirt/other stuff removed from the car) as dry ice goes directly from solid to gas form
@@mentals555 also the CO2 dissolves grime i’m pretty sure
Throwing star for the win. The 18's looked sick but yeah the 17's with the throwing starts. That 3D look is bad ass.
Your car collection is seriously insane. You have so many icons.
Very cool car and project. These have got to be two of the nicest guys on UA-cam always great to watch

i love the 18's throwing stars ftw
I would love to see a complete dry ice blast done on this thing it would be expensive but honestly worth it…
How much are they normally?
@@mmmbetter55 I think somewhere around a few grand. $5k-$8k is what I've heard.

Love the turbines. Definitely the way to go!
"Quick and Easy" and E34 M5 LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO, I love you guys
We can dream right?! 😂
Turbines grow on you over time. I’ve had T-stars for 7 years, but decided I love the turbines more so recently got a set. You can also ditch the inner fins which will give more of a dish look, at cost to the supposed cooling ability.
Turbofan wheels got to be the coolest oem wheels ever!!! Definitely keen them!
hands down best looking sedan ever made
That M5 is so dope. Can’t wait to see the finished product
18s look fantastic. Great series, very zen. Just here with my coffee, no kids around, and my speed academy ASMR 👍
Finally, more BMW content! The 17" style 21 is the way to go. :)
A tip on cleaning the undercarriage would be to LIBERALLY spray a degreaser like Purple Power, let sit for a couple minutes, foam everything, and then rinse off.
Can't wait to see what you guys have coming up next!
Styling 20 (real name for the turbines) is the very best choice! I had then on mine.. its real DTM Technology. love it!!

Haven't watched the Chanel since you guys finished up the e39 m5 touring but glad ik back with this sweet m5
My favorite M5. Wow very cool find, will be watching this like a hawk.

Idk if anyone else caught the way he said looped🤣🤣. Great vlog btw can’t wait to see how it transforms in the next one
17”s with throwing stars for sure 🤩 love this era BMW
Heads up you’ll prematurely wear out the bushings if you’ve torqued them unloaded. Torque suspension components with the wheels on the ground
good thing i caught this, overhauling my front suspension this week
Black wheels < turbines < throwing stars. Keep em all, and swap em out like you would a watch strap!
the black wheels are fire... matches up nicely with the black accents
Nice work! That undercarriage needs a once over with a dry ice blasting along with the engine bay.Keep up the cool content.
The Turbines make it look like it has Whitewalls. Great video and a great car!
Have augment build you some turbines. Otherwise, stars all day or naked m systems. Glad you are finally getting to this one!
Had to give a thumbs up just for the AWC Concave Stars by Augment Wheel Company, best one out of them all.
Turbine wheel the way to go... Thanks for breathing life to one of my dream cars
The notification popped up on my Lock Screen a I instantly thought, “speed academy?” I was not disappointed!
Nice car - it really deserves the classic Original Equipment turbine wheels it came with - they are just so classic.
Wow, those 18" throwing star wheels are gorgeous!
I knew it! Thought the throwing states would make a return appearance. Sick
I like the turbine setup myself. Don’t forget to check the injectors on the engine they are notorious for going bad by just sitting for a while. Putting poly bushing throughout the suspension really makes a huge difference, might be something to consider.

Wasnt a big fan of the e34 m5 at first but wow what a difference a set of wheels make. The 18s from the m5 wagon gets my vote
Augment wheels are just amazing. Perfect for resto mod
The custom throwing star wheels (the first set) looked awesome! The stance and fitment was on point, imo, but the turbines were the best look. Nice work!
I love how this guy is just flexing all the sets of M-Systems he’s got.
The silver on silver looked great, but the 17s look so much cleaner and makes it a whip
Original 17" turbines are really nice and compliment the car. Love them. The 18s are agressive but do look nice as well for an OEM + look.
FINALLY! The build we've all been waiting for 😍
Pretty excited for this one and addicted to old BMW’s as well!
After the 18s all the other options look too small in my opinion. If you really want the 17s then turbines
Talk about a steal this being my dream car😫
Oh man the ITR, MK4, and R34 are iconic cars to have
Turbines for sure, that OG classy look is really nice
never thought I'd say this in the comment section but I really like that naked look! hahaha seriously though it give the car an added presence and aggressiveness.
The first set of 18’s look tremendous 👌
Car looks SICK!!!!! :D With the silver 18" wheels, its like an OEM+ look!
The original factory wheels look the best. I think the turbines are the best
That was beyond satisfying. I only wished you had scrubbed the wheel wells clean. But I'm just weird like that. Love old quality cars.
Can’t wait for the rest of this build. I daily and e39 and would love a e34
Very difficult to dislike!! Enjoying your guys' content
I cannot wait to see more on this build. I like the naked 17” wheels with and without the throwing stars. The 18” throwing stars are way too much.
Was looking forward to the E34 project! Those wheels look epic
Love that car!!! I would put the factory throwing stars on it. Then swap back and forth with the turbines when you feel like it. Both look amazing
SUCH a classic car. Looking forward for more updates. God bless you 🙏🏿
Original turbines like e39 wheels are ok, but these, maybe too old school. Other pairs are better. Thanks new M5 video! Touring was great idea.
18 throwing stars for me. Naked 17s look pretty cool too. Like what a 90s rapper may have in 93 or something
If you dont plan to replace the calipers, you should try the Kleen Flo Brake-In spray can. It protects the calipers for rust and refinish them in a nice oem grey.
Love the E34, such a cool car. Killing it Pete.
All those wheel options are nice. What you settle on ultimately depends on how much attention you want on the street
Those 17s look so nice on the car, with any of the covers. But the turbines are my favorite🔥
Open the servopump, remove spring for pressure to the back system. Then plug the hole with a hydrualic bolt.
Then you dont have pressure at all from the pump to the back system you have removed.
And then you dont have to loop it.
I have done this 2-3 times now, EDC/SLS delete. 😀👍
Need a dry ice blaster video sponsor for all the cars.
I think I might lose but I have to sat 18's all the wat unless you want a classic feeling car too. The throwing stars are big OEM+ vibe that is my favorite.
The 18" Throwing Stars looks the best IMHO. That silver on silver is slick.
Beautiful e34
Great video guys. Those M5s are truly are thing of beauty
Go with the turbines, def the move!
Those turbofan style wheels are beautiful imo.
Speed academy is back building a bmw and I am back within an hour to watch the entire thing
Wow those 18" throwing stars are amazing! 🍒
Shout out to FCP Euro! I use them for all of my Volvo C30 needs and they've been great - they also have extremely thorough how-to videos; especially for stuff like a P1 chassis timing belt swap!
Best series on this channel
Dude the wheels!! When I saw the first ones I thought, no way that can look ANY better then the second set went on... I love the both! I spoke too soon! MORE?! :D They all look great. I like the big aggressive set the best though.
All the wheel options look great!
The wheels from your m5 look great, I have to say even better than they do on your blue one, loving this videos and thee type of cars! Thanks guys
In contrast to the e39, on this car these 18" replica wheels look way better than the standard options in my opinion.
Best 30 year BMW T-shirt, "It's NOT oil...The Oil leak is back here!"
Wheel and tire combo is 🔥
I'm gonna try not to go full rabbit hole on this one...famous last words LOL.
This is probably the generation of M5 that I like the most, both the body and the engine have that "je ne sais quoi" in my eyes. I would go with the AWC wheels
18” throwing stars look amazing
I didn’t like the weels on the wagon, but on this car its a total win! Just gorgeous!
