While I trust this will be more reliable than the big 3 domestics you also have to remember this is the most mechanically complex tundra ever built with the turbo v6 and 10 speed and a brand new hybrid system design unlike any prior Toyota hybrid ever to exist This probably won’t go the 300-500k miles like the old tundra
I was wondering if the ACC on the new tundra is as stupid as the ram or not.😂 My ram almost killed me slamming the brake on the highway, with nothing at the front.
@@Kenopshi-q7cWhen you said the Ram slammed on the brake, you might be referring to the pre collision system. The radar cruise control doesn’t slam on the brakes. It gradually decelerates your car smoothly to low speeds or even a stop. It won’t panic stop like thr pre collision system does

I have to say, the front end is growing on me a little... Would still throw a steel bumper on the bottom half to get rid of the stache though. I will say this thing looks amazing in white, especially with all the trim blacked out.
I had a 07 tundra with the 5.7 for a long time and was hoping to see it stay with the new gen… I really like most features on the 2022 TRD pro other than that. Looks like a brand switch will have to be in my future, Maybe the Ram Rebel
Love you and these reviews Joe. I will say this is a good looking truck, but I own a Powerboost and if I'm being honest, the 7.2 kw generator it came with is a complete game changer and every other F150 engine choice has some level if generator. I don't see a 110 outlet in the front seat to plug in a laptop. No massaging seats, no power tailgate, the list goes on and Ford also offers 4X4 Auto. Then Toyota completely eliminates the V8, which both Ford and GM still offer. I don't see them stealing any sales from the New Silverado Zr2 with front and rear lockers and a 6.2 liter V8 even if the Toyota is Quicker and the F150 is far too feature rich to lose any significant customer base to this truck, which in my opinion is still years behind. That said, thank you for delivering the outstanding reviews. Can't get enough.
Tundra is like 500LBs heavier. Wont be faster. Ford will increase HP for 2022 anyway. Powerboost is quicker, and the battery pack under seat RUINED the Toyota
Your powerboost spec is going to be far more expensive than this TRD Pro. For the price, this offers good features. Although I understand the benefits of the generator, Toyota makes a smoother hybrid. Coming from a guy who almost bought a Powerboost this January.
Thank you Joe, I really enjoy your colorful reviews, you make it fun! I've been waiting for this updated Tundra for years and it's finally here but I'm not going to buy it in 2022. I'm going to wait for the 2023 just because I want to see if they're going to work out any bugs that may appear. I'm kind of a hypocrite though, I bought the first Tundra in 2000 and I still have it, it has 104,000 miles on it and it still runs like a top. Sure, it's got a little tired but I'm going to spend the next couple years having it brought as close to original as financially possible. This won't stop me from buying a new 2023 but I want to have both. I'm actually emotionally attached to my 2000 Tundra, I've had tons of people trying to buy it from me but I always tell them no, I'll have that truck until I stop ticking. Thanks again Joe, great review, I'll think I'll watch it again!!
I’m totally impressed with this truck! I’ve been waiting for you to do a driving review of it and now you have I know they wouldn’t let you do it on your last review LOL! Now unless the price is ridiculous I am definitely thinking about ordering one of these or hopefully getting one at the dealer but these days it’s almost impossible to buy anything off the lot at least here in New Jersey.
Soooo stoked! Love the power plant options and how professional! the overall presentation is....so sleek. So sexy! Can't wait! I'm trading in my 2019 4Runner TRD off road for this new Tundra 👏🏼😁
I just bought a 21 Tundra specifically because it was the last of the V8's. A full size truck with a V6 is kinda like having a Camaro with a V6--it just aint right.
Joe I really appreciate you and Laurie's hard work to keep cranking out good content. Overall is a nice truck, however I would buy a used V8 Tundra before I would buy this new drivetrain. I'm probably in the minority, but I like my V8 even if it's less horsepower. The sound V8 is part of the fun.
Really hoping with the 4runner redesign it comes with the new motor/trans as well as interior similarity. Thats what im truly waiting for and so far with the tundra its looking good.
I’m still not in love with the front grill but love everything else with the truck I personally like the switch to the twin turbo v6 think it’s more Toyota that way but can’t wait to see one in person
Great review Joe, looks like you had lots of fun driving that new power train! But there’s a reason I don’t close my door after getting in my truck until I’ve started it. #v8smiles
Great looking truck and love the interior. Unfortunately, the engine sounds like a typical V6 and lacks the enjoyment of hearing that V8. To many of us, part of the enjoyment of vehicles is the sound they make and we're coming to end of natural engine sounds from a V8, V10, or V12. Other than the engine sound, awesome truck!
Wait until this thing get tuned with some downpipe and exhaust . Sounds gonna be more sexier than the v8,Unless you straightpiped the v8 lol but if you do straightpiped to make it louder than you absolutely losing your low torque and back pressure also burn more fuel
Needs a black headliner. Black and red interior looks crazy with a beige headliner. Please make it an option to have a black headliner. Other than that. The truck is awesome. Leveling kit, 35in tires, tint, and ceramic coat...Perfect!
I love LOVE the sound of a V8!! I gotta tell ya Joe this truck is making me change my mind on that! The new design is awesome and I am so happy to see they FINALLY added the composite bed to the Tundra from the Tacoma . My thing I don’t like is the fender flares I think they should have been the same color as the whole truck
I mean for towing that V8 that the Titan has and the older Tundra I mean they are just TQ monsters and they are very super smooth and can tow 9500lbs so I mean these new V6 engines can tow 12500 that is alot of capacity for a truck with v6 Turbo. But the engine will be working harder to achieve set desired goals as the older V8 sailed thru the hills with tow in the back so not sure. I mean for off-road I will say the V6 and twin turbo is plenty and with crawl control even better. But for towing and street brute driving I would say the V8 are still very reliable and are very smooth operators.
I love the styling. I love most of these improvements inside and out. However, I disike the turbos and hybrid. I really wish they improved the V8 or at least give us that powertrain option with this body. I want to give it a thumbs up but I gotta give it a thumbs down. The lack of V8 guides me towards other dealerships in light of all these great improvements.
People were in love with their 8-Track tapes too and didn’t want to give them up to cassettes. But they eventually did because cassettes were a better solution just like a TT V6 is better than a V8
I cannot get over with the tundra's interior, massive improvement for Toyota

Love everything about this new Tundra... except the V6. Can't do it. Great review though.
It’s dam ugly
I have to say, the front end is growing on me a little... Would still throw a steel bumper on the bottom half to get rid of the stache though. I will say this thing looks amazing in white, especially with all the trim blacked out.
Great presentation! But No V8, No thanks! I will keep and love my Tundra Crewmax V8 👍 on my way to the million miles Tundra club 💪
Great job again Joe! Great job Lori all the time with that camera!
I had a 07 tundra with the 5.7 for a long time and was hoping to see it stay with the new gen… I really like most features on the 2022 TRD pro other than that. Looks like a brand switch will have to be in my future, Maybe the Ram Rebel
I actually really enjoy the history lesson in the beginning. Thank you!
Everything you listed only matters If your Ford manages to stay OUT of the repair shop.
@@DonZenOfficial So far so good!
Your powerboost spec is going to be far more expensive than this TRD Pro. For the price, this offers good features. Although I understand the benefits of the generator, Toyota makes a smoother hybrid. Coming from a guy who almost bought a Powerboost this January.
@@DonZenOfficial HAHHAHAHA they’re gonna be crying after this
Thank you Joe, I really enjoy your colorful reviews, you make it fun!
Told ya Joe, Toyota!!! We just need to wait for the pricing 🍀thanks to Lorie as well!!
That red leather is so luxurious where is this in the raptor ford
I’m totally impressed with this truck! I’ve been waiting for you to do a driving review of it and now you have I know they wouldn’t let you do it on your last review LOL! Now unless the price is ridiculous I am definitely thinking about ordering one of these or hopefully getting one at the dealer but these days it’s almost impossible to buy anything off the lot at least here in New Jersey.
I really don't like pickup trucks but after seeing this I changed my mind, beautiful!
Very nice truck for those that can afford it. I think the lunar rock one looks great 👍
Thank you for making this video! I detail for Toyota so this shows me what to expect for unpacking, and detailing
Soooo stoked! Love the power plant options and how professional! the overall presentation is....so sleek. So sexy! Can't wait! I'm trading in my 2019 4Runner TRD off road for this new Tundra 👏🏼😁
sell it to me instead, i’ll pay trade in value 😂
@@kingjay6756 You got it!
I just bought a 21 Tundra specifically because it was the last of the V8's. A full size truck with a V6 is kinda like having a Camaro with a V6--it just aint right.
Get an HD pickup if you want a V8, let’s face it half tons are basically tall body on frame cars used for soccer practice.
Fuck that unreliable V8 with cam tower leak that cost a fortune to fix
It doesn’t matter V-8 or V6 as long as Toyota Tundra I’m loving it and I already love it more the way how they’ve it set up on TRD Pro
Can’t wait to buy this next year
After seeing the Platinum trim in that blue, that's the one I want 😍. I'm checking on Toyota's site everyday for the configurator!
Really hoping with the 4runner redesign it comes with the new motor/trans as well as interior similarity. Thats what im truly waiting for and so far with the tundra its looking good.
We will see how it all pans out!
Finally we get the MotorWeek video on the Tundra.
Excellent review as always 👏. I'm really impressed by this truck. Wonder how it will be priced compared to the f150 raptor and tremor.
I’m still not in love with the front grill but love everything else with the truck I personally like the switch to the twin turbo v6 think it’s more Toyota that way but can’t wait to see one in person
WAY TO GO TOYOTA!!!! 🎉
Please bring such updates to your whole Fleet. 💯
They already are if you look at it Camry, Rav 4 , Highlander... look at the Tundra
Loving this channel!
I still would love to have the legendary V8 as an option in these tundra
Me too
Great video, can't wait to order mine
Great review Joe, looks like you had lots of fun driving that new power train! But there’s a reason I don’t close my door after getting in my truck until I’ve started it. #v8smiles
Love the energy raiti
Thanks for letting me bring this one to you!
Well said!!
I haven't seen it but I hope the new Tundra don't come with that auto start/stop feature. I'm not a fan of it.
12:50 that Toyota emblem is bigger than the store signs attached to the deslers wall 🧱
I just happened to be at the dealership this Saturday and they had one and it instantly caught my eye I love the new design too
paint them. big deal. V8s from Toyota suck gas like no one else. terrible
They made some huge changes!
100% agree
Once you drive it you'll like it better
Cybertruck has entered the chat😊😊😁
People were in love with their 8-Track tapes too and didn’t want to give them up to cassettes. But they eventually did because cassettes were a better solution just like a TT V6 is better than a V8
Always a pleasure to watch you and your videos this truck is pretty damn nice 👌
