I have the original Ready Pack and Gamut and I like them a lot. I've abused the Ready Pack it a lot. I use it for day hikes, slid it on ground and rocks, used as a pillow, let it bake in the desert sun in the back of my truck, got it wet, etc. I like that it's not to visually loud. Being able to stick a velcro holster in there with the quick access is nice. I usually carry on body, but when hiking i like to just throw it in the bag for comfort.
I've had the "1.0" and 2.0 for a while now. They really are great quality and are very comfortable even when loaded out. My only gripe is the bottle holders are a little low and tight and my blender bottles struggle to fit properly.
I freakin love how you run this channel! Gear snob to a point, but realistic about what people are gonna do with it. Spending a bunch of a money is cool if you have it, but trying to stretch your dollar is how most folks shop. I don't need an expensive knife either. I like quality, and I like inexpensive. I'm looking at this bag as an edc bag for everything I usually carry in my pockets, plus as an active shooter bag. Armor, medical, and spare mags. My favorite thing about this bag is that if you front load it, you can approximate a plate carrier in a bad situation and have some protection. Great review! Subbed!
As always George, a great review sir! I have had this EDC pack for about two months and I love it! And, I got mine for a steal on Ebay. Under $100. No lie. Interesting side note, the Seller I bought it from no longer has an account. He was selling the Gamut and Ready 2.0 for well under MSRP. My nephew had the original Ready Pack and he beat that bag up and took it all around the world and it held up very well. He eventually sold it to my brother who uses it daily now.
The passthrough for the back panel has another purpose, too. Add one of those armor plates, put your arm through the back panel, now you have a shield.
I don’t think you should buy a bag without giving George a crack at it first. Unique but real-world useful opinion about what a bag should and could do. And he isn’t any bag makers homey either, he speaks truth. Thanks George.
Your reviews are great! I was looking for an EDC backpack that could be used for college and for work. Your videos helped me decide on the Ready Pack based upon price range and features. Thank you!
I agree 100%. A top quick access compartment is a must. When it's stuffed under the seat of an airplane and you need to get to your wallet or battery, its a need. I like the 'high vis' color. Its has good contrast without the retina burn of some others and not as eye catching to others. The front admin pouch is good. I'll store my 10k mah battery, pens, boarding pass and some altoids with some wet wipes/hand sanitizer. If it had a top compartment, i'll throw the face mask in it. It is a good looking back but missing a wow factor. Thanks George!
love this pack, only down side to it, it is the water bottle pockets, I carry a hydryflask for water and another one for coffee. they rub the things inside the mail bag and take away cubic internal space. I use it for school only and I wish it were a full clap, and more space on it. I carry my Mac Pro, iPad, chargers, stethoscope, lab coat, a few pens and a notepad. Sometimes extra pair of shoes, short story I don't pack a lot and the bag always looks pretty full that's why I don't give it a 10/10. great review George, like always
I think my only two things are what you said: 1. Quick access pouch 2. Laptop sleeve Do you know of a quick stick laptop pouch to stick in rear cow comp? That would definitely solve my laptop issue for this and the gamut
I looked at this bag yesterday in a store and found it to be heavy. I also found that the CCW compartment is no very fast to access when wearing the bag unlike their sling bag with the same feature. I ended up buying the North Face Surge and I am not totally happy with it for my EDC needs. My 511 MOAB 10 16 liter is a much more durable bag and holds items in place better than the Surge. I just can’t fit everything in it very well. I have found on nearly all bags that when you put things in one compartment it takes away storage space from other compartments. I believe each bag has its advantages for certain situations but there is no perfect EDC bag.
Love your channel. There is no way I am buying something from a company who will not disclose what the product is made of. For over $200 of my labor - not happening.
I really like this backpack. For me it would be the perfect bank fishing pack. Great review. I have a vertx range bag so it’s a company I already trust.
You can get them even cheaper if you find discount codes. There are a number of them on youtube that give 25% off. Which would be around 125ish before taxes. Which REALLY makes them attractive options for EDC.
Thanks for the review. I was just looking at this bag today. I’m needing to upgrade my edc bag that I’ve been using for the last two years. I like that it’s not tactical looking and wouldn’t draw attention.
A good idea to give your laptop a buffer space from the bottom of the pack would be to get a piece of dense foam about an inch thick and cut it to the length of the bottom of the bag. It looks like you have a few inches of height to play with so an inch should be fine, maybe even wrap the foam in duct tape. Great video! if you wanna give the bag away, ill do a video of me making a foam insert and show it loaded up. :-))) Keep up the good media! The biggie smalls at the end was a must!
I like the ccw pouch in the back even though I don't keep a gun in there. I usually keep a packable rain jacket and some first aid stuff in mine. Stuff I want to get quickly but am not taking in and out often.
You're showing some serious shoulder tension (shoulders re hunched forward) with the pack on. The easiest way of alleviating this is by connected the sternum strap and tightening it up. This pulls the pressure off your shoulders and distributes it in a safer way that allows your shoulders to naturally rest and not constantly straining forward to keep your pack up.
George DEFINDED does it again! Fun review. I have and love this pack. I just wish it was bigger. It really doesn't carry a lot of stuff. Still looking for that best pack. This is close though.
As always, your review is thorough and honest. I also love the lanyard idea on the Leatherman. Very disappointing about the laptop sleeve and lack of a separate tablet sleeve. That's a deal breaker for me right there.
Great review, as usual! Thank you. Nice grey man pack. Just wondering if you’re planning to review the new Maxpedition TT26 pack? I was holding out for this pack for a long time, but now that it’s out, it looks kinda disappointing to me. I like the design, but some features fall short. It would be great to see your take on it. I’m a relatively new subscriber, & really enjoy your reviews. Perfection is so hard to find in a pack.
Dude, I am a teacher and with all this crazy I am making videos for my kiddos. Thanks for you exciting intros and fun attitude! It gives me ideas on how to make my videos better. Also, I like backpacks too! I am looking to get one for bike commuting. Have you any info on the Life Behind Bars Breakaway? What do you think? I want to be able to carry a change of clothes and my laptop to and from work, rain or shine. Love to hear your opinions. Cheers
This pack is super versatile and I really like that. Working in a professional setting, it's important for me that I can use my different bags without looking like I just came in from the trail, or like I'm planning on leading a tactical force team through the rain forest. Great find here George and great review!!
Vertx is my favorite bag company. Also their delta stretch pants and the jeans they make are the best pants made. Like jeans or pant that u can wear like sweats. So comfy. Yet tough and cool. With Hella pockets! Great video bru!!
Awesome review as always. Thanks for sharing. Lets say you really have to choose between this Vertx and the 5.11 Rush12 2.O for EDC. Wich one would you pick? Greetings from Mexico.
Just purchased it after your reviews for the alpha evade, gamut and this pack. Looking forward to it. Might order the gamut as well and compare. Awesome channel. You deserve some kick back from these companies. Have you reviewed, or considered reviewing, the blue force gear tracer edc pack?
George, just found your channel. Man the reviews are on point ! I appreciate I am not the only one who has an addiction to bags lol. Keep up the Great content.
I just want to thank you for reviewing backpacks and also that I dislike you cause you make me want to buy all these backpacks haha My other half says I have to much, but she’s wrong !! You can never have to much backpacks ! Keep up the good work man !
George! Love your personality and vids. And those bloopers! Fantastic. I have the vertex checkpoint and am enjoying it. Still dialing in how I like to carry it but I feel a sense of pride when I walk with it. I think you get it being a bag geek too. Anyhow my question for you is what are your top 5? I've seen a couple of videos where you mention the list but I don't recall hearing the list. Is there a video I missed about them? Or could you do one and explain what makes them your top picks?
@@GeorgeDEFINED thanks for answering the fan base! I just watched each of those videos. The alpha one niner is pretty sweet. Also almost bought a greenroom myself. I've customized do many but never hit that purchase button. I'm not a fan of the other three though. Too tactical looking for my taste. But you did a great job walking us through the bottom to the top. Thanl you!
Nice review, thanks!👍 Subbed. So what are your favorite top 5 packs? I'm looking for an EDC CCW pack. This looks pretty terrific. Don't need it to carry much really. I've tried sling bags but hate 'em so gonna have to go with a backpack I think. Thanks again for your review.
In your opinion which is better for edc the Gamut 2.0 or Ready Pack 2.0? Keep in mind I don’t carry a laptop. Just a pistol and stuff I would need on a daily basis. I can’t make up my mind between to two, HELP me lol. Thanks for the vids man, you doing a great job!
I do not think that is a luggage pass through. This Vertx bag and others is made to put in a Premier Body Armor insert. And that luggage pass through is really for your arm to convert the pack to a protective shield in an active shooter situation.
I say the same thing, looks great, but missing something. Maybe if it was at 100 fazools it makes the list. Looking for a discreet bag with side bottle holders that wouls not take inside space, thick strong shoulder straps for edc, tactical, survival. What would be the replacement for this bag in your opinion?
Its 500D so it wont work for me on the job because 500d pack kast me abkut 18months i boht 3 packs with 5ooD not cheao bags and on all if them the zippers cut right through the cordura at 500D the weight differnce is less than a pound
Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5 Full, Vanquest IBEX 26, Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault, Go Ruck GR1 and Greenroom136 Rainmaker my personal spoiled backpacker reviewer pick is the Mystery Ranch 3 Day Assault
Yeah! I got mine last week, same color. Maybe 25 L would have been the sweet spot. I got it for EDC and office use. I like the pals webbimg pocket for a pouch of hygine and corona essentials, you can also attach a dog poop bag holder to the daisy chains and use during this crazy time. Its a great sturdy backpack

Great review as always, sir! I’m not a huge Vertx fan but I always love hearing your breakdowns. You obviously know your stuff!
Outstanding review. Thank you
Great timing was just about to buy this bag 🤙🏽
Dude! liked and subscribed purely for the intro!
I use the that large internal Velcro patch for a Vertx pouch. I think its 5x7 and that's my quick access!! Works really well actually
You're showing some serious shoulder tension (shoulders re hunched forward) with the pack on. The easiest way of alleviating this is by connected the sternum strap and tightening it up.
