good job Uncle Harry, thanks for watching over him chris....from your nephew Jeffrey Dean Stanton
I know he was in Cool-hand Luke, Kelly's Heroes, God Father 2, and Escape from New York But I loved him in that movie he made called Straight Time, Damn he was worthy of awards in that movie, dude straight acted his ass off. PLUS We have the same birthday......
A lot of people don't realize Harry was in the movie - "Up in Smoke". You have to watch the deleted scenes featured in the DVD and it sheds a LOT of light into the court room appearance scene as to why Tommy Chong was all "Fucked Up" in the courtroom. Most people think it was from the Acid Trip scene where Chong ate all the drugs before being busted, but there is a scene RIGHT BEFORE they go into the court room where Tommy is with Cheech in the hallway waiting to be brought into the courtroom for the hearing. in this scene Harry is there. Cheech says Harry - to this day - cannot remember EVER BEING in that movie. Harry Dean was an absolutely awesome actor --- PERIOD.
You, and/or your family still in the Bluegrass?
MrRondonmon Straight Time is among a tiny group of the greatest small time hood films ever made in America, with some of the best performanceses the stellar cast ever gave, including the 2 best character actors in the same picture.
I love your uncle and all of his work.
Kris Kristofferson, so classy...just let's it happen and supports where he can. A real gent.
Yes, discreet, a great man.
The Pilgrim
A real musician is the servant of the music.
Every movie I ever watched which had Harry acting in it, I enjoyed more. No matter the character you wanted to see more of him. There will never be another Harry Dean Stanton. You sir are sorely missed and Hollywood was left with a hole that will never be filled. RIP and a legend never to be forgotten.
... The Christmas One When He's Sat In the Tree watching The Young Boys Daddy Come Home and back from the Dead....
what @DearMr.Fantasy said
when he was a worker bee in alien complaining about the money .. can not get get better than this
Something about Stanton’s delivery .. very haunting and soothing, RIP.
Painful to watch - a fine actor on his last legs - song written by Fred Neil, introduced by David Lynch?
@@paulfrancis7979his phrasing is really something isn’t it…worse than Willie Nelson…but the poor guy was old. God Bless Him…at least he remembered the lyrics
Harry Dean Stanton is an absolute LEGEND, one of the true all time greats.❤
RIP to the irreplaceable Harry Dean Stanton. Made any movie better and worth seeing. Paris, Texas
PARIS, TEXAS. Been so many decades since I've seen that memorable film with Harry, Nastassja Kinski, and my friend, the unforgettable Dean Stockwell. Been ages since I've talked to him also.
I gotta rent it soon so I can see them all one more time...
100%
agreed
Escape from NY, Repo Man and Alien.
He was in pretty bad shape here and could have used some spot on guitar playing to help him out, instead of that idiot Johnny Depp playing all the wrong s***.
It sounded very much like a character piece, even if the character was himself. He took his weakness and made it art. Beautiful.
Harry Dean Stanton was one of my favorite actors. Greatly underappreciated, I think. Harry was a real renaissance man.
RIP HDS
The rendition is hauntingly righteous.....
I've loved that guy since the 60's. "The life of a repo man is intense." He lives on!
How many remember a Debbie Harry song, with the line 'I want a man like Harry Dean'. She wrote , sang, and meant it.
This was so sweet. Brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Kris and Johnny for showcasing Mr. Stantons talents. You guys are just the best! ❤️
On one stage...3 of the best actors, singers and performers ever. Not to mention...3 of MY FAVORITE artists.
I Love u all and I truly appreciate u guys for sharing ur talents and for allowing us to witness the magic.
R.I.P Mr. Stanton, u r one of the best.
I thank ur family for being so generous in sharing him with the world.
Ever ?
@@rickingamells1078 she’s being nice. I agree that Depp, and Stanton are 2 of the greatest actors ever… they absolutely belong in the best of the best and Stanton was a decent singer, Depp doesn’t do bad at all either, but to say they are the cream of the crop as singers, realistically isn’t true, but I certainly think they can hold their own.
As far as Kris, he is one the very finest songwriters anywhere. He excels and he’s done well in a good number of movies, in fact I think I’ve probably watched everything he’s been in, but if Kris were to read that someone said he was the best of the best actors, he give a big smile and a polite, thank you. However, knowing Kris, I can tell you if he ever heard someone say he was the best of the best singers, he would have tears rolling down his face from how much his sides ached from laughing. Kris would be honored if you thought so, because he’s truly appreciative of his fans, but he would be the first to acknowledge that he’s not even a mediocre singer!
Other than his acting, I really don’t know much about Stanton, but he always struck me as a really nice person. I know Johnny to be one of the most humblest people on this planet and I know Kris to be just a super good human being and loyal to his friends. So, I would agree that the 3 are the best at what their main genre is and that the 3 are wonderful as human beings.
What troubles me is that Kris is the only one that has found salvation through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and anyone who knows Jesus as his savior, truly leaves behind a legacy of the ultimate accomplishments.
Harry Dean was of a kind of his own. In the best sense. The parts he played, and his performances were so memorable. Thinking about the scene in Cool Hand Luke. Harry singing while Luke is digging...... Brought me to tears, and made me feel compassion. That was Harry's scene, more so than Paul Newman's.
I fucking LOVE JOHNNY🔥💕 for assisting Harry to shine in his last hours. Harry shined as the star that he was.🌠🌟⭐
Thank him for butchering this song
Kris should have smacked the hell out of Johnny with his guitar and dared him to ever butcher music again.
It's the end for Harry he knows it It's his final curtain get a grip @SR11266
God bless you Harry Dean Stanton , you have done what you need on mother earth, now Rest in Peace
One of the greatest character actors of all time
Man I miss him! His role in any movie was always worth the wait, no matter how big or small the part he always made it a better film!
Harry Dean Stanton you're a legend!
Johnny supported him so lovingly. Thank you HDS
That kind & respectful young man(Johnny Depp) who actually bows to his elder musicians would never abuse Ms Heard! CASE CLOSED!
Truth ?
Dean My Bro Rest in Peace Sir you were A Pioneer of your craft and I will never forget you in "Alien" even though you were told time and time again you would never make it as an actor because you didn't have the looks you pressed on ...Thanks from a 21 year old who saw you at the Theater in 1979 🍻
Three real men. And great musicians.
My dad was Fred Neil and I've heard about every version of this song there is.
This is the first one that ever brought tears to my eyes.
Omg!
🍻
You're a pretty special person for taking time to post such a nice comment. Best of luck to you.
Harry was just so talented and such a beautiful soul! He was such a good man and friend to many.
Incredible Harry Dean Stanton.
One of the greatest character actors of all time. In his early days in the 1050's and 60's he played in a lot of television shows in a wide range of characters and was billed as only Harry Stanton. He even had a small role in the premiere episode of Combat. He fell into the water trying to get into a landing craft on the D Day landing.
Gutted me when he got gunned down in Bonnie and Clyde. Met him at the HDS festival (ironically I'm wearing the shirt today) and he signed a Ry Cooder album for me. He said of the Irish that the losers write the songs, poetry and play the music. RIP.
He was billed in early things as Dean Stanton
@@ttnnaples8060 you’re right, as there was another actor named Harry Stanton at that time.
@Cynthia Ennis
I'm a Harry Dean fan from even old reruns made before I was born. Oh, did you see him in the episode of 2.5 Men? It was called Back Off Mary Poppins, I think. Funny part being he'd played with Sheen and Cryer both in films. As Sheen's dad in Red Dawn. Cryer's friend's dad in Pretty in Pink
Robwrt Smith....billed as DEAN Stanton
I enjoyed this rendition a lot.
Utterly moving and haunting .....thank you
That was just sweet 💜
91 lat? Bardzo dobrze zaśpiewał!

Loved you Harry from "the black marble" to "Alfa Dogs" to "Christine" to "straight time" etc etc. Fine character actor right up there with E Emmett Walsh.
Big hugs, and love for Harry Dean Stanton!!
This is bittersweet, many good things done by Dean. I won 516 million dollars on a bet that he was the actor playing guitar in Cool Hand Luke!
This Is Real! Love for Dean.
watched Harry in Cool Hand Luke today...again. You will live on forever
Harrys still ace at 91
That was such a graceful movement of the chair by Depp. Loved it.
An American treasure ...love you Harry

Harry, a national treasure.
A lot of acting history and now a few songs, they struck a good chord in there with this!
Wow I just saw Chris in a movie and he looked like he was 100 years old I can't believe how good he looks here

He's a good Mexican singer, loved his acting.
Got to see your very last movie...will miss you always. Blessings to your family
From El Paso Texas
🙋♀️❤ R.I.P. 🌹🌹🌹
It was so cool when they finally got into the song, with Harry's voice and out-of tune with the guitar, so Depp should have tuned up with the harmonica, which along with Depp's kind-of-okay-guitar playing, and Kristofferson's reserved presence - carried the day, and it is a great testament to Harry Stanton's memory.
"I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees."
just fantastic......
OMG his last movie Lucky was phenomenal
RIP Harry Dean Stanton (July 14, 1926 - September 15, 2017), aged 91
You will be remembered as a legend.
The amount of serotonin this gives me
Monsieur Harry Dean Stanton, you're still here, for me, in France . And everywhere in the world .
Paris Texas was the door to your eternity on Earth .
I think Johnny did a fantastic job following Harry's vocal,. To play like that you have to listen, kudos JD that was some good shit, man.

Lovely gift gentlemen. 💕
I first recall taking notice of Harry D S in a movie titled Twister. Instant fan.
Harry is a wonderful man. I love his work. R.I.P.
Bless! Rest in Peace.
I had bought my brother a book "Baked Potatoes-a P#t Smokers Guide to Film"
There was a portion of a chapter of must sees. that said "any movie with Harry Dean Stanton"
look at him how affectionate he is!
So lovely... 💗
Harry seemed to be cool with EVERYBODY. From Stephen King to Garfunkel to Depp, etc. Everyone wanted to hang out with Harry at some point! He seemed like in incredibly interesting person. :)
I first saw him in the movie One Magic Christmas and when I was very little. I've loved him since.
RIP, Harry Dean Stanton ❤️
This is fantastic!
I played a couple of gigs with Harry out in LA about 15-20 years ago.
Hung out a little afterwards too. At a couple of after gig get togethers.
One gig in particular I remember was in Beverly Hills cuz freaking Ron Jeremy was in the club. Then we went to Sharon Stone's "house" (more like compound) way up in the hills above Rodeo Drive.
(Nah she wasn't there only her her brother... BIG WHOOP!! 😐)
Harry was already past it here. But he was actually a damn good and soulful singer. And just the most chilliest funkiest dude you WILL EVER EVER MEET!
Just watched cool hand for the umptheeth time. It’s been a minute
so glad I stumbled upon this, so enjoyable!
R.I.P. 4e in my heart!
