This was the obvious point of the 2023 Anti-Semitism law that the House just passed. The definition of Anti-Semitism that the law cites gives multiple passages from the bible as examples of Anti-Semitism.

Calling someone a murderer is defamation if they weren't convicted for homicide. Calling someone antisemitic is an opinion, you can't prove that in court because it's not a crime even if it were true.

@@DisappointedSon0813 the 2 main factors that have to be proven in a defamation suit are 1) the party(s) being sued willingly and knowingly lied about the defendant, and 2) there was damage done to the career or reputation of the defendant. The 2nd part is pretty easy for this case with Butker, they definitely damaged his reputation. But the first part actually won't be easy, since they can just claim it was opinion, and even if it can be shown that the opinion is clearly false, they can just claim they were wrong. It's not defamation if you made an honest mistake. It's usually not that easy to prove someone knew they were lying.
Here's a question: what do people who are legitimately alone and have no one to speak for them (and aren't rich enough to have lawyers at their beckon call) when the hospital wants to pull the plug on them??
