He irritated me too and I am Independent who does not support the Democrat Party. Being Catholic to me is having a personal relationship with Jesus not bowing down to every Catholic dogma there is. I believe in commonsense and unless republicans agree on exceptions on abortion they are not going to get the independent vote. Without independents Republicans will lose the election. Dont be fooled by polling/polls, Republicans have to embrace early voting, legal ballot harvesting,poll watchers, going to the poor, the projects, nursing homes,jails,colleges and hospitals to get the vote out. If democrats buy poor people pizza and beer to vote- why cant Republicans do the same.

He was invited to address to an audience at a catholic college graduation ceremony. This is a speech given to a select audience. And he still manages to offend those that were not invited .

As a mother of three blessed beyond my greatest expectations, thank you for that wonderful speech
I am again reminded that free speech is not something that Christians are entitled to practice. We as Christians are tolerant, and it has given the liberal culture the opinion that we are the world's door mat! I think it was a wonderful thoughtful speech.

@@mary.sagi58 Going political is rarely a good idea in a commencement speech. The two things that are almost guaranteed to start a quarrel between two people are religion and politics. Nothing wrong with extolling the virtues of motherhood and strong family units. But you can do that without devolving into the polemics of politics. It is then that people are going to come after you.
In the end they chose a conservative catholic. Not a liberal one, to give the final address. But not every catholic is a conservative...and this gets into the empathy of the thing. Realizing that some in your audience might take umbrage with your commentary. It was a universal address until he made it political. Then it was more about him than the audience...with things he felt he needed to "get off his chest" as it were.
Some will disagree with me and call me a name but his dubious "diabolical lies" line is where he went off the rails. And regardless if Joe Biden is a catholic or not...he is the president of ALL faiths, not just Catholicism.

Possibly because this is an election year, there seem to be so many incidents where we are forced to fight political fire with political fire... unfortunately, we find ourselves saying and doing things we normally wouldn't because we are provoked and to respond in kind... many examples of this political provocation is evident anytime you peruse media outlets... The media fuels this fire by sensationalzing "isolated" comments and then blowing them out of proportion whenever it's something the Republicans and/or Trump are involved! However, the Democrats seem to get a free ride from the media that regularly parrots and puffs up anything from that side... the media has become a reflection of the Democrats and just as "most" politicians in Biden's camp seem to have little regard / respect for anyone who does not agree with them, the media follows suit... e.g., the ridiculous spectacle between Crockett, Greene and AOC... e.g., Biden telling Black people if they vote for Trump they aren't Black...

Butker's speech may have had political undertones; but, I prefer to focus on his religious beliefs, values and the faith he embodies!

I’m a Protestant. But I have lived everything he talks about in my life. The only thing we can do that lasts after we are gone is to have and raise children.
I have zero clue who this guy is because I despise sports, but it's amazing to see a fellow Catholic with a voice, stand up and say it like it is! I've heard more from him than I have the Pope. Society needs to listen up to what this guy was really saying and put it to use. Our country is falling apart, kids are being forgotten, life is being forgotten and God is forgotten. Things need to change and we need to push Satan from this world.

Wow. What a inspirational and thought provoking speech! I am a college graduate too, but I am a proud stay at home mom. I chose to stay home to help my autistic son overcome his obstacles in life. It’s a choice I’m proud of. At the end of the day, the most important things in my life is my husband and son.

You would probably lose it. I'm INFJ. I doubt Mr. Butker is. His speech wasn't about egalitarianism, it was more the opposite. He railed against DEI of all things. He detests others he sees as aberrant and he showed his intolerance. INFJs have an inclusive mentality...a live and let live mentality...a tolerance for others not like they are. They are champions of the downtrodden, the marginalized, the cast offs, the derided. Butker showed none of that. He made it about him and not the women in attendance. If he is even an introvert, it's more likely he is Fi dominant or auxiliary. IF he is even an introverted intuitive. Finally...what he doesn't get...that an INFJ would, is the fact that a president must be president of all people and all religions in this country...not just Catholicism. It was an issue that JF Kennedy himself had to deal with, being the first Catholic president to hold office. He had to assuage fears (publicly in an address) that he wasn't going to suddenly toss the country into christo-fascism/nationalism.
I salute you for speaking the truth. I am far from being a Christian, but totally stand behind what you have conveyed.

When you insinuate that four years of education is baked in "diabolical lies" one might consider that polemic. He cheapened the achievement of every woman in that audience. When you go political and religious you are gonna invite the flak. He knew this...or he should've known it. It's his right to say...but others have a right to rebuttal.

I absolutely agree. All I ever wanted as a woman was to be a mother and a wife. A career was not what I was looking for. Sadly, I had to raise two kids on my own. Being a wonderful mother and a wife is everything to me.
