No-one else has ever made music that sounds - or maybe, never will - sound like this, or be as affecting on so many levels...this is a part of history...
I don't think I can imagine anyone who LOOKS so beautiful singing...its like every fiber of her being is being projected into her breath and vocal cords. Her concentration and passion are worn so openly...
Came across this song long after discovering this amazing band. What a beautifully constructed song. There is something about Liz's voice that just sets it apart.
You have spoken for me as well! I heard this band on a casette on the way to the Greek theater to see the Cure in 1985? Not a week goes by that I don't listen to them. I only wish I would have seen them in concert more!
wow thanks for posting ,never seen this before liz singing like an angel from heaven , im always gobsmacked by her ,the voice of god amazing stuff we will never see the likes of a band like this ever again, im so lucky to have been a huge fan for 30 years and llistened to the best music ever recorded .
My God!!!! What register is that......unbelievable!!!! Brilliant.....she is so very brilliant......i just have to smile. Now that's the real "Voice". Im saying this now.
I don't know why but I always felt the Cocteau Twins to be the sonic equivalent of Anais Nin's the Delta of Venus/Little Birds. There's something so ethereal and forbidden about the music; it almost evokes another time and place and therefore transcends its origin. They don't seem quite from the 80s even though their sound is very much of the 80s.
I have most of the Cocteau Twins recordings, but I somehow missed this one. I was wondering exactly when this performance happened. Found this. "MTV's Most Wanted was a 1990s MTV Europe television series broadcast from London, England, presented by Ray Cokes. It ran from 1992 until 1995." Further research reveals "Golden Vein" was on the 1995 4-song EP, "Twinlights". ...so I'm guessing this performance was from that year.
"Whoops", Liz? Seriously, "Whoops"? I think pretty much every single bloody person living would dream of having just a millisecond of one of your "whoops" in them...
I've never, in my 62 years on this planet, heard music that has affected me like the Cocteau Twins have. Love you,Twins!
im the same age spook....love them
Spook Spook I am 46 and completely relate to what you say.
I'm 61 and ditto.
I'm 27 and I almost cry every time I listen
I so much relate to what u say…
God has blessed us with the voice of an angel.

The best group ever.

Probably their best song and hidden away in all the dark corners of their catalogue...absolutely incredible...what a sheer delight.
For me, this is what's best about YT. It's such a great gift to be able to see and hear such an extraordinary voice and group. So cool. I'm grateful.
Most beautiful woman i ever saw in my life
Elizabeth Fraser does the best (live) vocal performance of any female singer of that year and says “oops” at the end of it !
mindblowing, what a brilliant vocal from Liz
Makes me weep. And I'm not a crier. God, I love her so much. *sigh*

it hurts my soul, the fact that love and joy sometimes give way to suffering and sorrow. this treasure is enough. Liz is so on pitch..
The voice of God...

Imagine the weight of carrying that back into the studio?
God wishes he had that amount of talent...

Fabulous performance. In a way it's intimate that not so many have viewed this, but then you feel it should be shared as 5 million views.

I am speechless!
El mundo es mas triste sin la voz de Elizabeth Frasser.
"Godel Vein" es tan puro, mi corazón esta colmado.
Best ever....
So etereal....
"Whoops", Liz? Seriously, "Whoops"?

There's a whole lot more going on here than just Elizabeth Fraser's voice, folks...
Noel Johnson like?
Ducaralho de bom (from Brazil)
Great blanket.
Bro she drops a banger and just says oops at the end 😭
Sad song but good for the heart
I never thought I'd ever see the words "Cocteau Twins" and "MTV" in the same sentence, but I guess I was wrong lol.
