- Hey all! This is a bit of a passion project of mine and a bit of an experiment, too. I've started working with blender a lot lately in order to incorporate it into videos and thought this would be a good test run.
I know this is a lot different from the usual stuff, but I appreciate anyone willing to give it a go. I hope you all enjoy. - Ігри
THE 3D-MODELING-TO-VIDEO-ESSAYIST PIPELINE IS REAL, WE GOT 'IM BOYS!!!!!
I love the beginning of E1M3 in DUSK. The sound of Crows and the dusk setting, the falling leaves from the tree next to the church is just so nice.
Oh yeah that's such a good level and a vibe.
i was thinking about that too lmao
I'm glad you mentioned Crow Country. A lot of the time i would just walk, not run through the environments, taking in the atmosphere.
A lot of the lived-in rooms devoid of filth and death in Signalis are also very comfortable, especially the EULE dorms with the bunk beds, the mirror and the fairy lights.
Man you have a very soothing voice how are you not more popular
he's an ultratuber
@@spes_marine-42 ye ik still ultrakill is a masterpiece and is known for that
Cozy spots for me in games are the menu screen in Half Life 2 for the Water Hazard chapter, the menu screen for Hollow Knight when I set the theme to Lifeblood, and the balcony in the third chapter of Celeste. The menu screens are water themed, and the view from the balcony is pretty.
I love this style of 3D animation. It reminds me of the early Kingsfield npc's, wich, to me, is a compliment.
Different from your usual stuff, but I really like this! Keep up the good work!
yeah because he actually uploaded something
it's things like this that really make me wish i had a better memory, but some examples of places in games that have given me this feeling personally are the living room area in animal well, countless areas in the mario galaxy series, the small warehouse thing on gm_boreas in gmod, the main room of dishwashing simulator, a few of the bases I've had in various sandbox survival games, and I'm sure many more places that my brain refuses to dig up right now. some of these evoke the feeling stronger than others, but i do get that same kind of comfort feeling from all of these. it really is nice to have a place to sit and not only relax, but truly chill out and let your mind rest. i think that's why the mario galaxy areas stand out to me more, as when i first played those games video games were only fun for me, as i was just a kid and had no lingering worries in the back of my mind as i do now, it let me feel more at peace and have a greater connection to those areas
i love the new video style! the old 1990's kinda graphics are really well suited for this topic
More of an open location but bloodhoof village from world of warcraft holds a special place in my heart.
I feel really similar about Voices of the Void personally! I remember hearing about it a while ago and, despite the general eeriness of the game, it can feel really cozy once you get yourself settled into it, always having a home base that you can come home to and really clean up and make your own. I’ve been looking for another game that can give the same comfortable feeling I get going back to base in other games but it’s been hard to find
Fantastic video. It made me reflect on a lot of things. Feelings of anxiety and comfort: they go hand in hand, don't they? When I was little and was forced to sit in hallways or small rooms, I imagined myself living in this space, where I would sleep and where I would put all my things. I also used to be incredibly anxious when playing any video game. As that fear gradually subsided as I got older, I forgot about the feeling of comfort that some spaces provided. I feel like that's what's missing from most of the games I play these days.
One such place that I still remember is the home base from Patapon 2 and 3. Your base in the second game is a village under the stars, in the center there is a huge party going on late at night, people dancing and feasting. If you scroll further, the music becomes muffled and the sounds of nature at night can be heard. In the third game, your base is located in a huge cave, in the light of the torches you can see the rock paintings that were made by your ancestors. The sound of a hammer hitting an anvil echoes in the cave. If you go outside, you will see the starry sky once again.
I'll try to rediscover the places in video games that have brought me comfort. Thank you for making a video on this topic! I would love to hear you talk more about things that interest you or are dear to your heart.
Okay real comment time:
Brother I love love LOVE this content from you. Everything about this video is excellent. The writing. The animations. The transitions. I can tell you really put a lot of time, effort, and passion into this project. Frankly, this is your best work yet and I'm proud to have seen you come this far with your UA-cam channel. Keep up the good work, dude. ❤️
Thank you so much brother, love you ❤️❤️
cozy tight places yes yes :3
i recently moved the furniture in my room. and i put the big wardrobe so it divides the room in half making the room feel a lot smaller it very cozy
You should do more of these! Its a nice and welcome change in pace from ultrakill
A wonderful video, I very much enjoyed it. And yes, please make a sequel to this, I would very much like to know of your favorite spaces in Soulsborne.
I just watched through the entire thing and it's peak, I really like the blender style and animations too
Games like PZ, The Don't Escape Trilogy, and other games like them(Half-Life, or Outer-Wilds) have (in my opinion) the perfect atmosphere
Sick video dude, I can tell that this video is a passion project for you, and I really hope you continue to enjoy making videos and making my day
You made me unlock a part of me that I didn't know how to describe at the time until now. awesome video bro.
I found your videos through Ultrakill, but this I think this style of video suits you really well too. If anything, I think this video proves that you can do different styles very well, and I enjoy them both. Keep it up!
To answer your question, I really enjoy the benches (savepoints) in Hollow Knight. Together with the exploration aspect of the game, it really feels like you are out on an expedition, finding places where you are momentarily safe, and resting before continuing on. The music especially helps this feeling a lot.
My favorite one has to be the one in an abandoned tram, where the bench is just one of the seats of the tram itself. You find this place quite far away from any other savepoints, and the fact that the place you sit on is not a predetermined asset (the bench) but a diegetic element, coupled with the fact that the music plays from a speaker of the tram, distorted but not in a creepy way, really gives you this feeling of finding a safe place by yourself and resting for a while.
for me, sonic mania’s sound test/debug menu evokes a similar feeling of comfort, especially with the music literally being titled “comfort zone”
the menu is lowkey kinda eerie but sitting there trying to input the super sonic flight code just makes me feel at peace
I was so excited to see content from ya again! And you beginning with zomboid made me super surprised to! Zombie games can be really atmospheric
Underrated as hell. Keep it up
Love this type of videos, glad to see you making these type of content!
Very viby to watch, would love to see more videos about this topic.
Its nice to see someone talking so heartfelt about their own experiences. great video!
I really like your non-ultra kill videos they're a breath of fresh air
Love the visual style! Good luck , Herb!!
I wish i had the same kind of experiences you had in these games i havent really had one since ive played minecraft and red dead redemption 2 very cool video! I love the classic ps1 style!!
Bro has the old CRT that the teacher would roll into class on movie day
I would love more of this, rly good video!
This was a very nice video, Ultrakill Coin Man.
This reminds me of the Librarian, a youtuber who always makes videos trying to capture this same "creepy and comfy" vibe.
Thank you! I'll have to check them out, sounds right up my alley.
Cool. I had a similar idea for a game im developing. Like a point or a place with a nice view that you can stay for a while and just chill with calm music . Very different from the main gameplay but a nice breath of air. The Chill zone.
Thanks to you i'm gonna look more into this stuff ❤
Best of luck with development!!
This is a great new style of video! I love the cozy personal stories, they feel so nostalgic!
I love this style, please make moooore!
I fuck with your videos heavy
is it weird to say the idol introduction room in 5-2, though it doesnt have chairs or that inviting at all cuz its ultrakill, i have that feeling you talk about when i read the book and listen to the storm outside. they even let you walk around in the next room a bit to enjoy the rain so thats kinda nice, ig
gotta appreciate herb branching out the content
Long time, no see, Herby! Glad to see you still making content. Missed your e-face.
Hey Malice! Good to see you too fam.
