      The water scares me with how easily it can drown you. The unseen things scare me with their gnarled and undiscovered faces. I hate the ocean unless under very special and comfortable circumstances, of which I can only list one time where they occurred. I'll stick to the mountains, thank you very much.

    I live in the Caribbean. Iv been deep sea diving and even spear fishing. If there was ever a scary moment of my life living with the ocean it would be the time when I hooked this huge mackerel (about 30 lbs the least), fought with it for a good 15 minutes and just when I was about to bring her aboard this fish, no shark or barracuda that's for sure, ripped the Mackerel in half with one bite. My dad who has been fishing all his life panicked, first time I ever saw him scared in my life put the dingi in full speed all the way to shore abandoning the rod. I was in the moment so I didn't get a good look at it but my dad was ready to hook it he said he saw it coming from yards away coming to is really fast. He said it was like a baby whale but with small black blunt spikes surrounding it and it was really fucking huge even I could tell. He even said he swore it was chasing the dingi when we were driving off.

      According to Lovecraft and his correspondent Clark Ashton Smith (see "The Azathoth Family Tree"), Cthulhu's parent is the androgynous deity Nagoob. Nagoob mated with the Outer God Yog-Sothoth to bear Cthulhu on the planet Vhoorl. Lin Carter, in his Xothic legend cycle, mated Cthulhu with the quasi-female entity Idh-yaa to produce four offspring: Ghatanothoa, Ythogtha, Zoth-Ommog, and Cthylla. The English horror writer Brian Lumley introduced an equally powerful, but questionably benevolent, "brother" to Cthulhu called Kthanid.

    • @chemp231
      @chemp231 5 років тому +3

      Not just that but being trapped in a way, not having anything or anyone only what you took/ have on hand if a problem comes.
      I don't fear the unknown as much as having a lot of my advantages taken away. Each day is unknown, but atleast i can always get another stick as a club without destroying my ship.
      Or even the ability to use a club that'd be great while in water not on a ship. I mean even a octopus or shark scare me bc of their fighting ability in water, there is a good reason we dont have gills, we would be pretty bad at fighting in the ocean.

    I've been swimming since I was six, and I'm pretty damn good at it, but somehow, swimming in the open ocean has always scared me. It's not so much the fear of my feet not touching ground- I can deal with that, it's more like a fear of what lurks beneath, unknown and unseen.

    Pretty sure this monster is the Scylla from Greek Mythology, unless it's something completely made up. If that's true, well done author. This one was genuinely unnerving.

    • @Bluesit32
      @Bluesit32 9 років тому +24

      Nah, Scylla is a six headed creature that lives along the Strait of Messina. She picks off six sailors from any vessel that passes by. The only way to avoid her is to sail close to Charybdis...which also has dire consequences.

      T Man It only takes all if you pass over while she's gulping down water. Charybdis isn't trying to sink ships. It just gulps water, forming a whirlpool. Then it belches the water back out.

      The open water can be scary, but there are also few places as beautiful as being on the open water. At night it can be so peaceful with the wide open sky and unobstructed stars, and during the day it's so open and free. It's hard to describe how it feels with no land in sight, no hills or mountains, and nothing but water as far as the eye can see. It's the ultimate freedom being able to go any direction endlessly. It can also be absolutely terrifying when theres a storm but it can also be exhilarating when the ship bucks back and forth and the waves pound into each side but you dont sink and ride the water like an angry bull, standing on the bow with the cold salty spray slamming into your face, leaving your cheeks numb and stinging. It can be terrifying but it gives you a high better then most drugs I've tried.
      Also fish are tasty.

    What makes the ocean so terrifying to me is that you're completely out of your element; you could be attacked by anything, anywhere and from any direction. Something could potentially sneak up on you and you wouldn't even know cause the sounds of the waves would tune everything out. This is why this pasta is so particularly so terrifying... That feeling of the unknown combined with a certain vulnerability.
    It's good stuff.

    I wish I could go back in time and let H.P. Lovecraft read this. The writing, to me at least, is just amazing. So much detail, and just the right amount of unneeded information that a person might provide when actually retelling their experience. It makes it feel that much more authentic.

    Maybe the reason we're so afraid of the deep sea is because it makes us realize how small we are. Also, maybe because it's so vast and unexplored. We know more about space than what's in our own oceans.
    I have panic attacks in deep water; vulnerability is so scary...

    If I had one wish, it would be for creepypasta to have a modest resurgence lol. Just bringing it back to its peak in terms of popularity and stories coming out. I remember when stuff like Favor for a Favor, Borrasca, the Gas Station series, etc. Felt like they'd come out friggin all the time. Good times, yall. At least we still have the greats to enjoy now!

But earlier when the ship first hit the rocks the protagonist was saved by the railing with kei and mikail not far from him on the top deck

    I'm relatively hard to impress when it comes to creepypasta, but this was great. I really like Lovecraft and this is very reminiscent. It wasn't just the story, but the writing itself was top notch. I enjoyed the authors use of an introduction, especially the reference to Darwin and Heracles. It was quite clever, and I knew at that moment this would be a good listen.

    I was about 12yrs old, standing in waist deep ocean water, scooping up handfuls of sand from the bottom and just tossing it back into the water, in one handful I scooped up a white crab the size of my hand! It was frantically clicking its claws together!
    I slung it's ass back out into the water and ran out of there as fast as I could! I didn't get back in the water for the rest of that trip!

    One of the most amazing experiences of my life happened in the ocean. I was 13 and living in Hawaii the first and only time I touched a shark. I had been snorkeling in the bay for hours following one colorful fish after another when I saw it. A blacktip reef shark just cruising along the reef right next to me. It was less than two feet away. I froze for a second at the sight of a shark up close before realizing it was only about four feet long. I spent the next hour following that shark all around the bay. It was incredible seeing a shark that close and watching him hunt for injured reef fish. At the very end of the day right after my Mother started calling for me and my sisters to get out of the water I took my chance. I had gotten within touching distance of the reef shark a few times before without upsetting him, but every time I started to reach out my courage deserted me. Knowing that this was probably my one and only chance to ever touch a shark in the wild I finally did it. I reached out and ran my hand gently down the shark's side as he slowly swam on. I then swam back to shore and never told my mother or my sister's what I had dared to do.
