As the MSI bios can be unlocked, Would it be possible for you to test PBO, that is located in the AMD CBS bios menu, I think, to see if it can be used to boost the performance of the 5800H?
If so, how is the performance of the laptop with pbo enabled?
@@bradmorri Unfortunately I can't look further, the laptop was returned before this video went public as I only had access to it for a brief period :( I have an upcoming 6600M and 6700M comparison where the 6700M is only in the first half of the video because it won't be there for the conclusion lol
@@JarrodsTech If you get hold of another ryzen pc with unlocked bios please take a look. MSI are the only ones around as far as I am aware.
I am really quite curious if PBO can be used (I fear that it isn't but who knows?)
I'm trying to unlock my legion 5 pro to have a play with the likes of PBO but no luck so far.
@@JarrodsTech hey, Jarros about this laptop, I know a tweak that could boost the performance, enter in the BIOS, press Right Shift rigth ctrl alt f2 you Will able the Advance setting on BIOS, and with this you can do a undervolting on RX 6700M, I'm running my with -40mv and the temps and the performance increse by 10%. You can try this tweak
MSI center is always giving me notification to update BIOS, should I update it or leave it?
HP victus wobble has become a benchmark now for wobble levels😂
Truee😂😂😂, I outright rejected it instantly, going for the LEGION 5 RTX 3060 now. I think it's the best in the RTX3060 Laptop segment.
@@yashkalwani1145 if you can get your hands on it, that is.

I figured out why there's so much screen wobble. The connection between the hinges and the back panel are extremely fragile plastic. Mine snapped loose within 2 months, and due to MSI's a** backwards warranty, the Laptop is now a $1500 Paperweight
Oof, always check hinges before testing everything else! Mine is built solid. Even with mine being a solid build, im extra careful with opening the hinge. I've had MSI laptops in the past, hinges were strong, wonder why they are fragile now...
What do you mean that their warranty is, "a$$backwards"? Are they charging you a premium to fix it or are they not gonna fix it at all?
With the $1300 price at best buy, this is a great option for me. The form factor is exactly what I was looking for and any heavy gaming will still be done on my desktop at home.
its 1100 now
Just bought mine today for $899... Sorry y'all
@@Seebeejeebees got mine for $699 🗿

@@King-_Of-_Mars Ohhhh no way, go grab one! I saw a 4070 laptop for $1,000 the other day and got crazy buyer's remorse lol
Got this for $899 US from Best Buy this week. Pros: fast as heck. Used MSI Kombustor to benchmark it. I was consistently scoring evenly with 3060 desktop cards on most tests. I had 20% higher scores and way better fps than my older Alienware r417 with a 1070 in it. I can play Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends on max settings at 1440p on an external monitor and keep between 120-144 hz. This thing is fast, light, and cheap. Yes, on the highest boost for the fans it does sound like a plane taking off. But, I wear headphones when gaming so I don't hear it. Temperatures stayed below 90c when gaming on max settings at 1440p. I haven't noticed any thermal problems at all. Some games have stayed below 80c when gaming too. The highest it gets for me is during Apex Legends when its hitting nearly 97% usage for hours at a time.
The only problem I faced so far was a windows update caused my network usage to spike to almost 100% and I had to run the Windows update troubleshooter to fix it. When using the charging brick that comes with it, and selecting best performance for the battery, and using the boost performance in the MSI Center, the battery did drain while gaming even when plugged in. I play about an hour of Battlefield 1 at 1440p max settings and it went from 97% to 93%. Also, it doesn't seem to charge to 100% but I have read from other MSI owners on Quora and Reddit that this may be a feature. It seems to get to 97% and then stop.
Overall, this thing feels very well built. It looks great and has some great hardware. For $899 US I cannot complain one bit. My Alienware cost me $2300 in 2017 and this thing outperforms it by quite a bit.
Ayy, just bought mine today for that same price and I'm happy to read your review of it. I plan on using it mostly for 1080p gaming so hearing that it does well at 1440p is quite comforting lol
So I should get then man
Re: flipped motherboards, in terms of upgrading anything, the extra steps are a minor inconvenience considering how infrequently you'd do this especially with m.2 SSDs (unless you frequently do rewrite cycles as a content creator working with video; photography will only be an issue for pros), RAM, or changing the thermal interface.
My real problem is that when I load a laptop hard enough (including non-gaming laptops that I use for older console emulation or photo editing) I'm probably at my desk at home with a cooling pad under it. If the motherboard is flipped, most of what the cooling pad will do then is help get air into the laptop's internal turbine fans, which is barely any improvement over just using a portable laptop stand to raise it up form the desk. By contrast if your plastic bottom panel has enough holes right over the CPU and GPU cold plate and your cooling pad has the fans at the right spot relative to the vents you can have some of that air blowing directly onto the cold plate and some portion of the heatpipes, or the vapor chamber.
If the bottom panel was metal and no vent holes right over the cold plate you could try sticking thermal tape in there to use the surface area of the panel to dissipate heat, then set it over a cooling pad (seriously who actually uses a computer right on their lap?).
unless its the more expensive options like the stealth series and the rest... the hinge will always be a weakspot. it explodes(not really but you get the idea) in your face even with utmost care.
I'd still prefer the cooler facing down, personally. And a metal bottom panel so I can stick some thermal pads on there. I can't remember the last time I uses anything more powerful than a 2-in-1 ultrabook anywhere near my lap. In the case of such an ultrabook, it was folded up like a tablet, not on my lap.
Pity you did not mention how loud the fans get under gaming and normal work situations. For me that is really important.
He did mention it’s on of the more silent ones on the main review
About the charger, I was like come on Jarrod how big deal it can be to not have a charging option from type c, then I saw THAT HUGE POWER BRICK. Come on msi this can't be real
It makes sense though. How can usb c pull enough power to sustain the processor and 115w/120w gpu? I don't think it can safely.
i got this laptop like a year ago and it's amazing at running games. I will say though for some reason the fans on the right side of my laptop won't work so sometimes I'll have to restart it. It can overheat pretty easily when playing and the fans are decently loud. The only issue is that the hinge broke for me out of nowhere while having it for like 10 months and it's annoying because you have to send it in to get fixed. Also my spacebar key is messing up. Gonna be honest the hardware is just not really durable at all even though the laptop runs really well. Getting it fixed is just way too inconvenient
The hinges popped out of my laptop as well, could I ask how much the repair was??
I've been looking all over for a disassembly guide for this laptop. My old Acer had an access port to get to the ram and 2.5" drive. I'm kind of shocked they flipped the motherboard on this and made it so difficult to work with compared to my 2014 laptop.
I just got this Laptop, but it doesn’t seem to have a charging indicator light! The one next to the power button doesn’t stay illuminated. So I’m never sure if it’s actually charging yet or not.
I got a problem I cant find anything about. In games with this laptop whenever i move the camera or the character sidways any object, character,or the camera itself with jerk and stutter. When i move forward its normal. Anyone had this issue? Some games its more noticeable then others. I full rebooted the laptop 4 times and even got a replacement but it still has the same issue.I know I wont get much help but i just want this sorted.
Picked that up on sale at Best Buy for $1299. I want to put more storage in it but I'm not in a hurry.
I've just bought the alpha 15 and wow I can't believe you have to turn the board round that's crazy. Luckily the Alpha 15 is normal in that way it arrives tomorrow so can't wait till how it works with some games.
How is it ? Do you like it ?
Would love to see Acer predator helios 300 i7 11gen next.....especially that 2k 165hz.....
Yup he's gonna do that soon. It's up on his community tab on Jarrods Tech
They are meant to be sending one soon, but with 3070 :(
Only gripe i've had was hinge anxiety. My Delta's Hinge is solid, but I'm cautious when opening it. Love it so far, owned for almost two months!
Play new games on High and older games on Max. This is a thin laptop, heat is your enemy. I'm planning on getting a laptop cooler pad to use when gaming on my monitor. But man, it gets HOT when plugged into a monitor.
Another great product from MSI!
How is it now and let me know about the fsr support in games?
Hey how's it help up so far? Any issues pop up?
Excellent video! Do you recommend which one of these?

- Legion 5 5800H RTX 3060 SSD 512GB $1,229
- MSI Delta 15 5800H 6700M 1TB SSD $1,299
I had been watching videos on both channels and was subscribed to Jarrod's Tech channel, but not this one. At the end of this video I seen the links to both channels. Then checked and found I was not subscribed here. 😁
This MSI Delta 15 is the 3rd laptop we purchased in the last week. Got it on sale today (March 18, 2022) at Best Buy for $1,299. 🤑 also yesterday (March 17, 2022) we picked up the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD R9 5900HS with RTX 3070 for $1,549 and a few days ago we picked up an ACER NOTRO 5 i7 11800H with RTX 3050 Ti graphics on sale for $999.
We are upgrading from old HP OMEN i7 6700HQ laptops with NVIDIA GTX 965 graphics.
Before the HP OMEN we had HP Envy AMD A8-5550M laptops.
Similar in speed to the old a Core i3-2310M.
I really enjoy the channel.
Will take at look at your Patron page.
Excellent video as always Jarrod. Any chances of reviewing the MSI Alpha 15 2021 (Ryzen 5800H + Radeon 6600M 8Gb VRAM). I think it should perform as good as RTX 3060 but more future proof due to 8gigs VRAM. It has been available in India for 330 $ less compared to Legion 5 pro. I couldn't find even a single review on the internet so i have ordered Legion, but I can still return that.
Me too waiting for a proper review!!
AMD video cards are always more future proof, because hardware of AMD is superb while software is really shit. Part of this problem is caused by them. And other part caused by game and program developers. nVidia almost always comes out with full support. But AMD cards are not. So the software gets better as time goes by. Buying a new AMD graphics card is like buying fresh wine. It's good as it is, but it gets better as it ages :)
For example: My MSI R9 270 Gaming. It was the same performance as the GTX 750 Ti when it first came out and i bought it. But now it's on the GTX 1050 Ti level.
@@Bloodin28 Completely agree with you on this. AMD's hardware is excellent but they really need to step up and pay to the software developers, game devs, and OEMs to design products that favour their own hardware
I think legion 5 pro is better. How much did you pay ??
my delta 15 just crashes after it reaches 85°C on the gpu and it goes to bios
Now it 800 usd , is it worth it?
Doesn't the lack of a mux just mean that it works better on either the built-in monitor OR an externally connected one?
Jarrod's Tech probably needs to checkout this guy's video he makes good videos too
He wishes he was as good.

Me too! Unfortunately they can't send me one until December.
Do you have plans to check Gigabyte G5 KC? This channel is straight up underrated. Even the other channel of yours.
the lack of type-c charging & having to carry a brick when travelling is a big minus point for me..
And in the case that i might need to connect an eGPU (hopefully not) via m.2 slot, since there's no thunderbolt.. the motherboard flipping seems to get in the way..
Btw, does AMD switchable graphics allow direct output from dedicated gpu to external monitor?
Hi Jarrod, I Really like your reviews but can you show games benchmarks with plugged in and Only Battery result, Thank You
Will you review a laptop with a 6600m? No one else seem to do that and absolutely no one has a review on the Lenovo legion 5 with AMD GPU
Any suggestions on if i should get the Lenovo legion 5 17 inch with 144hz or the 15 inch with 165 hz ?
Hey @Jarrod is it ASUS FX506LI-70AT5SB1 good for editing, illustration and stuff?
What do you really recomment for gaming and work like that?
Hi Jarrod! Just wanted to ask if you’ve heard of any hinge issues with the delta 15?
Hi!I bought one at Best buy for my daughter 2 months ago .I love it, my daughter love it too...very nice ,strong and fast until yesterday,my kid get home after school and open the lid,one hinger ( right side) broken I am try to see how it happen and I screen go bad too.Now I saw the way they made the hingers :so weak...metal hinger soldering on plastic lid that is problem...I think I won't buy any MSI Delta again. If you have the chance to look at hingers you will think soon or later WILL BE BROKE...
I need to project to another screen, ie, use multiple displays and this has failed on me. It has become an expensive paperweight. cant use it for work or gaming if I cant have multiple displays
Is $899 rn at Best Buy is it worth to get it or should I wait for some sales for better laptops.
Mine crashed while it was asleep. It’s fans started going crazy and turning themselves on and off at different speeds, and the system started making a chirping sound, like a failing hdd (which it doesn’t have). Does anyone know what might have happened?
the Dragon Center was so annoying, especially the stainless one..i have to format the whole laptop and clean install win11. now no sudden cpu increment and battery backup also good
No problems if i uninstall it?
Is the overheating issue really a big issue? Or is that only under extreme cases?
When I run CPU intensive games I reach temps around 90-92. It's a great machine but I would invest in a cooler of some kind
I dont think ethernet ports are at all necessary on a laptop because adding an adapter causes no problems because the cable doesn't move
Just more stuff to carry around with you and not forget I suppose.
$1199 at Best Buy right now. Is there a way to Wireless Project to a tv?
For gaming, working and editing, Delta 15 or Rog16 3050ti 16GB i7? Both $1299
Delta 15 for sure the 10gb vram will help you out a bunch
It is 1300$ at best buy do you think its a good deal ?
on the same boat to pull the trigger or not lol. 1300 seems like a good deal... just really bummed cannot be charge using USB C as well as that flipped motherboard.
still hoping the g15 6800m will go on sale as blackfriday is coming close...
same seems like a solid mid tier but i havent pulled the trigger myself still not sure.. but the fact that it stands with toe to toe with the Legion 5 says alot i think we should pull the trigger
@@CHAMPDOGZ I'm pulling the trigger will share my experience

@jarrod’s Laptops which laptop do you recommend the lenovo gaming 3i i5 or the dell G15 i5
What is a USB ethernet dongle*? is it just an ethernet cord that goes in through the USB port? would that work. I am getting this laptop and would like to hook up ethernet if possible...?
I bought it 2 months ago. My laptop Delta 15 is working too slowly right now after a few updates on MSI Center or something else in the last 3 days. Fans are working too fast. Even if I open gaming mode it still continues working like a 5-year-old laptop. I plugged in, and wait for %100, and then unplugged it so that I can see the battery life. But it was showing me 1 hour time to die. It was not like that at the beginning. I scanned it but couldn't find any virus. I am not sure if it's about MSI Center updates but I didn't do anything unusual apart from the MSI Center update.
What happened now ?
How's it still going?

should I go Lenovo 5: RTX 3060 / 8GB ram / 512 storage /1200$ (i have two 8 ram sticks and 512 storage, from my laptop) or delta 15 at 1300$ from best buy (I heard that it has hinge problems and MSI has a bad history of hinges breaking)?
The MSI delta 15 doesn’t have that hinge issue. So I’d say go with the delta because it’s a much better machine.
The Delta for three reasons. The Lenovo is not supposed to be a thin gaming laptop. It's quite bulky while the Delta is thin. It's up to you if you need the portability.
Then the 8gb of ram which will seriously bottleneck you. You need at least 16gb for gaming. And finally the battery. 11.5 hrs is absolutely monstrous.
My MSI delta 2 months ,hinger broken yesterday, very bad ...
How about reviewing HP Pavillion 2021 5600H
Depends if they can lend me one!
can anyone plz tell me which one is better lenovo legion 5 ryzen 5 4600H with gtx1650(4gb) 8gb ram 3200ghz or dell g15 2021 ryzen 5 5600H with rtx 3050(4gb) and 8gb ram 3200ghz
This seems perfect for me.
I am creating a YouTub not gaming so will this Delta work or Mac Book Pro better ????
I mostly prefer windows laptops only because you can upgrade RAM and SSD, you can't do that on a MacBook.
You can also play games in it if you want. That's the great plus point.
Once you start to play games then you won't even think about MacBooks.

Screw MSI for sucking up to Intel and making a deal with them, They don't offer AMD laptops, Only cheap garbage ones, They should make a 16 inch laptops or atleast more 1440p Laptops that include Intel and AMD, And make better hinges and less cheap plastic bs.
I don't think this is a cheap nor garbage laptop. Seems a bit strange to complain about a company for basically doing what you seem to be after (making AMD laptops).
@@JarrodsLaptops It's in their low tier design and it's not with an Nvidia GPU, Doesn't offer 1440P or 4k option aswell so....
