Region locking is one of the things that no amount of mental gymnastics will help me understand. In any case, it's really exciting that this is possible without a hardmod. Still not a huge fan of having to buy pre-patched memory cards, but it's better than nothing
My biggest trauma with region locks was when we moved back to the UK and I couldn't play any of my DVD collection. Literally inane capitalist behavior.
It was understandable in the days of 8 and 16 bit systems where there were issues with speed, but a disclaimer would have been much nicer than barring people from playing. Imagine if you bought a PAL Mega Drive game, put it in the Genesis and instead of saying "THIS GAME IS ONLY FOR USE ON PAL MEGA DRIVE SYSTEMS," it instead says "THIS GAME WAS DESIGNED FOR USE WITH PAL MEGA DRIVE SYSTEMS AND MAY OPERATE IN UNINTENDED WAYS" or something along those lines before letting you play.

I love that old Toshiba CRT. That's the same TV I had all through high school! It's still out at my parents cabin but I've lost the remote so I believe I can't change the input, though I can likely find a remote to work with it.
It's such a good TV but it's really got an issue with being functional without a remote haha. I ended up getting a Logitech Harmony Remote to work with almost all my devices.
It’s great to see ps2 memories now. Please do video like modded games with like Pes 2024 .. top 10 fan made games. And something like making ps2 output quality better like HD
With FCMB (or other softmod alternatives) you can also use OPL to play your game backups you host on your computer, a router, or a home server, using only an ethernet cable. This is useful if you don't wanna spend some extra money on an MX4SIO. MX4SIO (or MC2SIO) is also not compatible with every game (there is a list for this), so if for some reason the game you want operates weirdly, you have other options like playing them from an USB or like I said, through file sharing from a computer or a router. Then there is neutrino with XEB+ launcher in its early stages of development. It has a nice XMB style UI, but it has a long way before implementing all the OPL features. (although the compatibility is again pretty high for neutrino)
Yup, also if you've got a bunch of PS2s around the house, it makes life easier. And some of them aren't MechaPwn compatible... the SMB server approach is really slick. And works slightly better than the MX4SIO method.

Thanks for the shout out, I have a Japanese slim PS2 with this mod installed and never knew it can be done with the FMCB or really the uLaucnhELF. One thing I do not like about the Japanese consoles is that X and O are swapped and no way to change that while in the PS2 menus.

MechaPwn is just for PS2 games. If you want to play PS1 games you'd have to pair it with the disc-swap trick, but PS1s are still super affordable so I'd just suggest grabbing one.
