I barely have space for the main ones T_T - I do have some multiples on my home consoles but that's usually because I initially bought the wrong variant (eg. I have another GC but it doesn't have the output port for component)
The Flippy Drive accesses the drive interface directly. The SD2SP2 adapters go through the serial port which will cause slower access times. Test this by loading up one of the Mario Party's and see if the intro video skips. Macho Nacho (Tito) did a PicoBoot video and showed an example of this.

I don’t know maybe I’m remembering it wrong but the goal was you could actually take advantage of the speeds of nvme so it wasn’t just like putting an SSD in a PS2

Dang! I couldn't afford to get my order in on launch so I have to wait until April. I've got the picoboot, HDMI mod, and the BlueRetro already. The only other things aside from Flippy I will be missing is a spice orange shell before my ultimate GC will be complete.
I just bought a gc2sd and sd2sp recently all to find out my action replay disc is the wrong one. Guess I can get a modded wind waker file from my Wii but this method is seeming a little easier not having to run a disc.
Are you able to force games to run in 480p like you can with Swiss? Couldn't see it on the documentation. If not thats a bit of a deal breaker compared to Picoboot, but I do really love the vanilla style UI.
It's brutal $25+$7 shipping for an extension cable doubling the price of the mod. I'm ok with that for the ease of access tho. Better than the cost to mod many consoles. The flippydrive has wifi tho I thought as an option?
Right! Flippy has wi-fi but file transfer over wi-fi is still incoming. I'm willing to wait as opposed to paying that much. I did hear from the team that they are possibly releasing their own extender too for half the price as an offline alternative :)
@nightwing179 I can see if the backing for flippy drive ships to the UK but shipping to the UK then the potential of messing it up somehow. It's a lot easier to just pay someone who knows what they are doing to sort it

The configuration menu must be running in 480p. I have seen the distortion on a 15khz crt before and its definitely like that.
Yep! Thankfully they patched it in the recent update :D
Dang! I couldn't afford to get my order in on launch so I have to wait until April. I've got the picoboot, HDMI mod, and the BlueRetro already. The only other things aside from Flippy I will be missing is a spice orange shell before my ultimate GC will be complete.
The orange shell is really something special - excited for your ultimate gc!
"Robots could just play GameCube games in their head..."🤣🤣
Very interested in this…I think I would definitely have to do a hdmi mod first

I just bought a gc2sd and sd2sp recently all to find out my action replay disc is the wrong one. Guess I can get a modded wind waker file from my Wii but this method is seeming a little easier not having to run a disc.
This is way easier! Highly recommend :D
If I still had my Gamecube, I would have 100% done this mod, but I recently decided to sell everything off.
Are you able to force games to run in 480p like you can with Swiss? Couldn't see it on the documentation. If not thats a bit of a deal breaker compared to Picoboot, but I do really love the vanilla style UI.
It looks like you can force progressive scan via the config file. @-HDR has a great easy tool here: martinrefseth.com/flippyconfig/
You can do this either with cubeboot or with the built in Swiss .
@@nightwing179 are you sure? From what i've seen, Cubeboot won't ship with the ability to force 480p, so you'll have to use Swiss anyway.
Can we use this version of cubeboot using picoboot?
CubeBoot is only available through the FlippyDrive :)
@@yourcoolunclemarisa Figured it would be the answer to the question... Thank you! :)
You can also run many Emulators.
anyone know any uk sellers which will be selling pre modded gamecubes with this in ?
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to do it yourself since all it requires is two screwdrivers?
@nightwing179 I can see if the backing for flippy drive ships to the UK but shipping to the UK then the potential of messing it up somehow. It's a lot easier to just pay someone who knows what they are doing to sort it
Swiss is ugly as hell lol. That said, Pico Boot and a Pluto II board are what I'm rocking on my Game Cube. HDMI out, every GC game I care to "own", and I still have the actual optical drive for around $75! Totally awesome. This is a killer damn video BTW. I love handhelds, but I do appreciate a good "true console" mod Thank you! You're awesome!
Thanks so much! And PicoBoot is absolutely strong enough to still hold its own against FlippyDrive as an affordable and straightforward mod, I agree!

Other than that, perfect video as always.
I know what the creator said but gif belongs to the people now >:)
(alsoo thank you!)
5:39 wow GameCubes cost a 100$ in the USA these days?
I bought my latest GameCube for 45€ with 4 Controllers and Mario Kart Double Dash.
That wasn’t years ago, but just two months!
Slight exaggeration, you can get just the console for as low as $60-$80. Way cheaper to import and clearly way cheaper in the EU too! I got a pair for about $30 from Japan when I bought mine a few years back.
Oh yeah. This is that good shit.
A Soft modded Wii is the last GameCube I'll ever need 😂
Definitely the most sensible route!

Reason for Picoboot. If all you want to do is boot to the Gameboy player.
Your shirt was wrong. I listened to you until the end. I don’t even own a GC.
maybe you are a fish hmm
15:24 A ram ranch odyssey? 🤔🤣
I know what that is but I'm genuinely confused where you're seeing it lmao
@@yourcoolunclemarisa It showed up in the alt+tab preview for a few frames. I actually watched it cause I was curious and that was a good vid! Your vids are really good too thank you for making them!

There is an extension adapter made for the sd drive to go where the glow light is inside of the disk drive area by lazer bear you didn't install
I love it when people leave comments without watching the video 💚🩷

The production sucks, i have to wait until April 2025 if i get one now... No thanks.

Why do you call yourself an uncle? 🤔
Why do you call yourself MasterLee2011?
@yourcoolunclemarisa I'm sensing some passive aggressiveness here.😅 For the record, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just curious is all.
@@MasterLee2011 Not trying to be! I just imagined there's just as much reason in both of these, it's just a silly name I thought would be funny and endearing.
@yourcoolunclemarisa Oh, okay. As for me, I thought Master and Lee sounded cool together, plus 2011 is the year I started my channel.
You're so pretty.
the woke tribe has gotten into retro gaming. I'm done with youtube.
Thank goodness, good riddance to ya.
Pretty girl talking and working on retro gaming is just so sexy.
